Mated To My Best Friend's Lycan Alpha Brothers-Chapter 393: Did He Came To Rescue Or Enjoy Her Misery
(Author’s POV) 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"You are asking for a reality check. Let me help you set your mind straight, so that you can understand your actual place." Saying this, Hailey raised her hand, ready to strike Gavin.
With a semi circular motion, her hand came down, but before it could come in contact with Gavin, Myra caught her hand in an iron grip. She then jerked her backwards, muttering, her voice cold, almost ruthless, "Not on my watch."
Hailey stumbled but somehow managed to stabilize in time. Seething with pure hatred and rage, she fixed her gaze on Myra, a malevolent glint flashed across her eyes.
Myra heard a low growl, which was more like snarling. Her eyes automatically wrinkled as she noticed something unnatural with that crazy girl, Hailey. She was shell-shocked. But, in a matter of attoseconds, it was gone. Her mind spiralled, "What on earth was that? Did I just hallucinate, or did I see her teeth turning into fangs? But~ .... How? How’s that possible?’
She was so busy with her thoughts that she didn’t even notice Hailey charging towards her, "You dare to lay a hand on me. You filthy human."
Myra was caught off guard and couldn’t get out of the way or stop her as Hailey shoved her with full force. Her perfectly manicured, sharp nails ended up scraping at her neck. She was thrust back violently, but before she could hit the solid, concrete made ground, a strong pair of hands steadied her from behind.
"I thought this was a place for students from prestigious and well-mannered families. I didn’t know the university also enrolled thugs and ruffians. How off-putting, tskkkk~ ..." a clear yet cold tone reverberated. She heard that all too familiar voice from above her and couldn’t help but tilt her head and look back at the person. Her eyes dilated.
But before she could say anything, Nigel spoke first, "Mr.~ .... Mr. Everests. What are you~ ... what are you doing here?" His cruel, malicious demeanour took a complete detour as his voice sounded unrecognizably humble.
"Do I have to report my schedule to the likes of you, huhh?" Alaric spoke in his usual aloof, detached manner. Myra noticed his right hand was still on her shoulder while the left one was on the small of her waist. She pursed her lips and mumbled in a barely audible, "Thank you, Mr. Everests," and almost immediately distanced herself from his touch, a meter away from him.
Alaric looked at her with an unreadable expression, his gaze landed on the reddened area on the crook of her neck, his eyes darkening in the moment.
Myra saw the change, but before she could do something or stop him, he had started taking decisive steps in the direction of those hooligans. He stood right in front of Nigel and Hailey, emanating a cold aura.
Nigel, for once, felt nervous as shit. All his bravado was gone. With a stiff smile, he first introduced himself, "Mr. Everests, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I am Nigel Long. The CEO of WLZ Entertainment, Wyatt Long, is my father and Zara Long, one of the Red Stone trustees, she is my mother. I didn’t mean to offend you with my question. I just didn’t expect to see you here." He extended his hand for a handshake, though it was clearly shaking.
Alaric stared at him for a while, neither taking Nigel’s hand nor taking his eyes off of him. Just when Nigel was about to pull his hand back, Alaric extended his hand, grabbed it and tightened his grip on it. As they shook hands, Nigel could feel the pulsing pain as Alaric squeezed his hand; his grip was vice-like. It was as if he intended to crush it to pieces.
Nigel hissed in pain and quickly pulled it away. Alaric let him. His eyes then landed on the person beside him.
Hailey looked at Alaric with a bit of hostility. After all, she was very much aware of his real identity.
Alaric asked Nigel, without looking away from Hailey, "Can you tell me what the commotion was about? I think I heard my name getting mentioned just now."
Actually, he had heard everything from start to finish, and he could also recall this gang from two days back. They were the ones spouting absolute garbage about Myra when they were on their way to the architecture building.
"Mr. Everests, we were just trying to uphold justice. It’s all because of that girl," Nigel pointed towards Myra, claiming, "You might not know about this, but this girl, who was accompanying you last time, giving you a campus tour, is nothing but a vicious gold digger. She seduces influential and powerful figures and gets benefits from them. All the male professors in our department are under her well-crafted spell. Not just her~ ... even her family is leeching off of us, living in the professor’s resident housing. Everyone thinks she earned the scholarship on her own merit, but god knows how she actually got it."
"Nigel Long, don’t spout nonsense. I can sue you for defamation and slander," Myra rebuked, hearing his baseless allegations.
"Did I say something wrong, Miracle? The online gossip says a lot about you. And don’t you dare deny your close connections with Prof. Stephens. We all know about it. Ask anyone here, and they will say exactly what I just said," Nigel was at her case once again. Her voice filled with confidence.
"Really? Are you sure about your claim? Because if any of it is wrong, as Ms. Miracle said, you will be sued for slander," Alaric spoke. His expression was void of any emotion, as if he were dealing with his business associates. Myra couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed seeing him so calm. ’Is he here to enjoy my misery?’
Nigel pursed his lips for a brief moment. Then he defiantly raised his chin, his gaze narrowing and meeting Myra’s, "I am one hundred per cent sure. Myra Miracle is nothing but an opportunistic money-grubber who wants to climb the social ladder by imposing herself here."
"NIGEL LONG," a thunderous voice roared, and the next second, a powerful slap landed on his face.
