Chapter 440: I Would Appreciate If You Take Your Leave Now

(Author’s POV)

"I am sorry, but my daughter is resting right now. Mr. and Mrs. Garcia, please come some other time," William spoke, his expression stern, his voice unwavering.

After the father-daughter duo had that tearful, heartfelt conversation, Myra was drained and extremely exhausted, so William told her to keep everything aside and just get some rest. In no time, she was fast asleep.

Around half an hour later, Amy showed up, accompanied by her husband, Sebastian. Ever since knowing about Myra’s accident, she had been feeling antsy and wanted to see Myra with her own eyes. She was so desperate that she was even ready to rush out with the Miracles, but Sebastian held her back.

As Myra didn’t return home last night, she must not have gotten a chance to tell her parents. Which meant the Miracle couple still weren’t familiar with the truth. They didn’t know about Amy and Myra’s blood ties. That Amy was Myra’s biological mother.

Sebastian was well aware of Amy’s behavioural patterns. If, at that time, she had visited Myra, it would only have turned into a chaotic mess. Plus, the reaction Myra gave last night, he could tell that the girl needed time to process such a massive thing. And it wouldn’t be wise of them to stress her out in such a battered condition.

But after dusk had settled down completely, Amy insisted on seeing Myra. She just wanted to look at her face, even if they couldn’t talk. So, Sebastian decided to relent this time. He took her to the hospital. But when they reached, William was already outside, talking to someone on the phone. When he saw them, he gave an excuse and disconnected the call. He stood firm, guarding Myra’s room like a shepherd. He wasn’t going to let them in by any means.

When the Garcias came to meet them at their house earlier in the day, after exchanging pleasantries, they had asked whether Myra had told them anything about what went down last night at the dinner meeting. Both Sandra and William were tired and worried about their daughter’s well being and safety. She hadn’t come home all night, and there was no trace of her whatsoever.

Hearing their ambiguous words, William thought Myra’s disappearance had something to do with them. So, he almost lashed out at them, "What did you say to my daughter for her not to come home all night? What did you do to her?"

"WHAT? Myra hasn’t come back at all? How can~ .... How can this happen?" Amy was shell shocked. Even Sebastian was taken aback by William’s words.

Before William could spout anything more, Myra’s call came.

Now, at the hospital, he still felt uncomfortable about letting them meet his daughter. From the very first time, Amy Garcia’s behaviour towards Myra has been strange. Her question, it kept replaying in his head as well.

"Mr. Miracle, my wife just wants to see Ms. Miracle once," Sebastian tried to get past him, but William wasn’t in any mood to budge.

Their confrontation was broken as William heard a tensed, strained voice coming from inside the room, "D~ad .... Da~d ...."

William left the Garcias standing and walked inside, his steps brisk, urgent. When he saw Myra sitting in a slouching manner, her face all sweaty and drained of any color, looking for him, he rushed to her side and asked, "Myra, my child~ .... what~ ... what happened to you? Why did you wake up all of a sudden?" Very gently, he wiped the beads of sweat from her visible skin with a towel.

Myra didn’t say anything and hugged him tight. Her face was now buried in his stomach. William patted her back soothingly. It broke his heart seeing his precious child like that. He inquired, "Did my baby have a nightmare, ummm? Don’t worry, Dad won’t leave your side from now on." He assured her while she shook like a leaf under his hands.

He was correct. Myra has had a nightmare. Nightmare related to last night’s incident. Of her gruesome suffering, of her nearly getting sexually assaulted again, of her almost dying in that abandoned place. She found herself in that damp, mouldy cottage with those creepy, terrifying beings.

She saw the three of them approaching her, all at once, showcasing their sharp fangs, ready to pounce on her any second. She recalled their lascivious gaze and lustful expressions. Their mocking voices clogged her mind continuously. She was fucking scared as hell.

Now that William wasn’t there to stand guard, Amy took the opportunity and went inside the room. Sebastian followed her closely behind.

The moment her eyes fell on Myra, her face ashen. She was mortified to see her in that mangled state. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

After calming herself down, Myra pulled back from the embrace. As she wiped the corner of her eyes, she felt someone else’s presence in the room. She looked to the side and found Amy and Sebastian standing meekly, not quite far away. Amy’s bloodshot eyes boring whole at her head.

William followed her gaze, his warm expression instantly shifted to cold, "Mr. and Mrs. Garcia, didn’t I tell you, you can’t meet Myra right now?"

Amy remained speechless, her eyes still fixated on her daughter’s bandaged forehead. Sebastian pursed his lips in a thin line and said, "Mr. Miracle, I apologize. We just wanted to see Ms. Miracle once."

"Even if you want to see her, this is way too disrespectful. Just because you people are rich and powerful, you think you can do anything," William didn’t like them one bit. Their audacious behaviour and entitlement made him dislike them even more.

Myra, when she saw Amy, several different emotions besieged her. What happened at the dinner with the Garcias was still fresh in her mind. She turned her face to the other side, her eyes filling with fresh tears. She didn’t want any drama right now. She has had too much of it and just wanted peace and quiet.

With her face still tilted in another direction, Myra spoke, her tone detached, "Mr. Garcia, Mrs. Garcia, you have seen me already. I would appreciate it if you could take your leave now. I need to get some rest."
