Chapter 441: His Gut Feeling

(Author’s POV)

"Hmm~ .... hm~ .... hmmm~ .... um~ ... hmmm," Elisa walked to the guest room, humming in a playful tone. She was in a very good mood. After all, despite some tribulations, everything was going according to her plan. Brave Everests had softened himself in front of her. Now, living under the same roof with all the Lycan brothers, she could take a step further and reach her goal to attain her position back.

As she entered the room and was about to shut the door, a strong hand stopped it. Elisa was blindsided as Fabian entered her room, his face void of any expression.

With a startled expression, she asked, her voice held a slight edge, "Prof. Stephens, what do you think you are doing right now?"

"What do you think you are~ .... Elisa Queens?" Fabian spat back.

"What do you mean?" Elisa queried.

"You know what I mean? What are you trying to play this time? You can fool those hound dogs, but not me. I can see through your intentions quite well. Tell me, what are you planning?" Fabian pressed on as he started walking towards her.

Elisa backed away, her eyes flickering as she said, "I don’t understand what you are trying to say." She sniffled a little, feigning she was frightened by him.

"Ohhhh~ .... Please. Stop with this fucking nonsensical act of yours, will you? From day one, you have been trying to flirt with those brothers, ready to get inside their pants at any chance. Ready to pounce on them, so what’s with this new act of playing hero, huhh?" Fabian accused her, reaching her closer and closer with each passing footstep. "You said you saw Myra getting abducted, huhhh~ .... So why the hell didn’t you call me? You know she and I are close. And what’s with you catching suspects? Who gave you the authority to do that? What are you upto, Elisa?"

"Prof. Step~ .... Fab~ ...Fabian, you have~ ... you have misunderstood me. I just~ ..." Elisa fumbled with her words. Her steps came to a sudden halt as she reached a dead end, her back pressed against the wall.

Fabian banged his hand, just an inch or two away from Elisa’s face, as he looked in her eyes with intensity, "You just what~ ... Don’t you fucking dare to lie to me. I am not buying any of that nonsense. You disappeared one day, without a word, on your own accord. And then one day, after all the chaotic mess, mayhem had happened, you reappeared. Is this just a coincidence? Or have you planned it all?" He interrogated, his brow arched.

Elisa’s eyes were veiny and teary as she looked him dead in his eyes. With a defiant expression, she said, "I really don’t know anything. Whether you believe it or not is upto you and your judgement, Fabian."

Fabian riveted. She sounded so righteous that even he couldn’t tell what was what. But his gut was telling him something wasn’t right with Elisa’s timing. But then his mind reeled back to the image of her blistered, reddened hands. After staring at her for a while, he retrieved his hand and stood tall in front of her.

Now looking down at her once again, he asked, "So, you claim you have no hand in either Mr. Larson’s crash or in Myra’s incident?"

Elisa nodded.

"You said~ ... you saved her. Then, you must have come face to face with those freaking bastards that did this to Myra. Tell me, who were they? Why did you think they were suspicious in the first place? Why were you following them?" Fabian threw question after question.

Elisa pursed her lips as she told him the same story she had woven earlier to tell Brave. Fabian listened to her carefully, noting even the slightest bit of change in her body language and facial expression. There was none as she sounded so confident.

"You still haven’t told who they were, and why did you think they were the suspects? You must have done a background check on them, right?" he inquired.

"Actually~ .... they were~ ...." Elisa hesitated.

"SPEAK," Fabian was losing his patience.

"They were vampire of the Blood Fangs Clan, all three of them," she told him. "I couldn’t get any information other than that."

"Huhh? Vampires? From Blood Fangs?" Fabian’s eyes widened with shock. He wasn’t expecting that at all. ’What reason can a vampire have to kidnap Myra? They even take her to the abandoned forest. The land they are not allowed to step on by the order of the Vampire King because of some past misconduct. What would make them defy Jacob’s command?’

He had ordered Gunnar to take those scoundrels’ bodies to investigate their identities, but it would take a while to get their DNA tested or to get more information about them.

He then recalled the phone call Alaric had last night with the kidnappers. ’Maybe, they kidnapped Myra because of him. What if their main target was Alaric and not Myra?’ The thought of it was enough to make his blood boil. It all made sense now.

His fists clenched instantly, and without waiting for anything else, he turned around and walked out of Elisa’s room.

Elio was just around the corner when he saw him leave.

Elisa breathed a sigh of relief after the episode of intense interrogation had ended. She rolled her eyes, sneered and mumbled, "This insufferable Fabian~ .... His audacity to threaten me. Once I regain my power. I will behead this guy and throw his body for the starving vultures to party on."

She combed her hair with her hands and walked to the door to lock it. She was tired and didn’t want to deal with anything else. When her hand was still on the handle, she felt something pressing against her back, something solid and warm.

A low, magnetic voice came as the person breathed out on Elisa’s crook of the neck and planted a soft, moist kiss, "DEMON QUEEN~ .... where have you been?"

Elisa’s body went rigid, her grip on the handle tightened. She turned around and asked, "What are you doing here?"
