Mated To The Demon Prince-Chapter 104: Yes Or No?
’’If she was yours, I wouldn’t even water my time confronting you all. She does not belong here. I brought her here myself. But blame your god for her stupid mistake of having her live inside the body of your daughter in a vain attempt to keep her from my wicked grasp.’’
A deranged smile overtook his lips once more as he stepped closer to the alpha king, who was having a hard time understanding his words. But he does not care enough to explain things to the enemy bit by bit.
’’Every one of you does not deserve to exist if I did not fall. Your every existence—all of you, is a curse, and you have no idea of the misery behind it.’’
Silence.
’’But that doesn’t bother me again. I will gladly sit back and watch you all perish under the disgusting of living. I am no longer in control. Blame her when it’s all over,’’ he chuckled before moving to face the rest of them as well. Her heart thumped hard in her chest when his gaze settled on her again, struggling to stand on her feet in–between her mother and her sobbing aunt.
The way it changed from being hardened and cold to possessive and soft confirmed again that he knew he was charlotte—the human. He must have had fun making a big fool out off back on earth inside this pale and foreign body. Her mother and aunt’s hold around her loosened when he stretched forth one of his gloved hands towards her, like a silent and gentle call for her to come to him.
That act alone was enough to have her wanting to crawl to the nearest corner in both fear and repulsion. The sight of the blood of her people he must have murdered senselessly while coming here dripping like little teardrops from his gloved palms, but he remained unfazed or unmoved by it.
How could he...
When she pushed back with her bare feet, Darkness tilted his head a bit in displeasure at her defiance, but he was determined to be patient. After all, she still saw him as the feared and rumored bad demon of this world they have all brainwashed her with. He was yet to introduce himself to her as her beloved invisible Ree-ree.
When she was taking forever to respond to him, and he would hate to spend another minute again in this place. He took one step forward and his love pushed back with four steps, almost tripping in the process. He was forced to stop and analyze the situation. It was expected for her to fear him, but what could he have done personally to have her regard him with hatred? Her teary, cold blue gaze at him with disappointment and in hurt.
He tried to make sense of how she was feeling. To get to the root of it. What else could they have done to her except their silly brainwashing about how mad and evil he was? He was ready to stand on each of their corpses if they did more damage to her than was expected.
With a wave of his hands, he slowed time until it was just them both. She looked around her briefly confused before staring at him in that same uncomfortable way.
He made eye contact with her for the longest of time in their own time-stilled bubble he made around them. The longer he stared into her eyes, the more it revealed itself to him.
She has understood who he was and what he is.
His greatest fear, slapping him hard across his face, and it was painful how he never prepared for this.
If she already knew who he was to her, which he was still curious to know when that happened, should she not draw near than creating more distance between them?
He was finally before her in the flesh. He was no longer that invisible phantom she cherishes so much. He was physical now before her eyes, and why wasn’t she happy like he thought she would be.
This had been what she’d always wanted.
What went wrong?
He tried to make sense of how everything was making her feel presently.
She just continued to sob and wouldn’t even look at him. Even if she did, it was in pain and in regrets.
’’Charlotte,’’
He called when she still avoided making eye contact with him. He also noticed how uncomfortable he was making her be at the moment. Which was opposite to how she was with Ree-ree around in her past life.
He waited to see if he would get a better response from her, but it was all further damaging when she turned away and wept.
’’It’s me,’’
He could have been the happiest in the world, and it would hurt less if she only acknowledged him with just a single look. It was something he could never have predicted.
Her rejection.
It touched that hidden part of himself only her could find, but instead of it creating those beautiful little magical sparks he valued...he felt cold, bitter, and hurt.
Time resumed, and no one knew the moment they missed with just a blink. Eva’s mother quickly took a protective stance between her daughter and the demon prince. She was as scared as hell putting herself in this position, but it would be something she would regret not doing should she lose her only and favorite pup. Her aunt instantly pulling her to her embrace to sob uncontrollably on her shoulders.
The Demon prince was so greatly affected by her rejection that he summoned the seven lightnings from the sky to strike down their ridiculous statue of the false god. These had everyone running out of the room as the fall of the enormous statue destroyed almost half of the entire courtroom. Some got caught up in the quake and rumble and most getting inured.
Eva was protected by her aunt and mother, who made good use of their primordial energy to avoid being smashed into a bloody paste by the crumbling statue of the moon god.
’’I will be back for you, love.’’ she heard him say as he began to melt into tiny pieces of dark ash and energy. His voice haunting. ’’And you should be ready to explain yourself. A reason that will stop me from not overwhelming you with my displeasure. That you will beg me for your death, which I will refuse as punishment for what you just did to us.’’
He left, taking away with him all the bad energy he suppressed them with, and they could all let hold of their breaths.
’’Eva, are you okay?’’ Her aunt whispered beside her.
Yes or no?
Which was a more truthful response?
