Chapter 115: A Meal With You

He released his hold around her and Eva couldn’t tell what had him smiling down at her like that. It was close to a smirk, but it wasn’t at the same time. His gloved hands closed around hers as he dragged her all the way to the castle.

They usually have dinner with the one she has come to know as the uppermost class demons in the dungeons. They were about twenty and Venice was with them on the table. Aveline and the rest of the woman in his harem waited back while she sat like a queen beside him on the large table.

She had always been curious as to what demons eat. During her first days of prison camp here, her food was made as edible as much as possible for her and brought to the room. This was the first time she was asked to dine with them, and it felt weird seeing the demons merry and interact as if they were random normal beings like her. Their food was similar to hers and didn’t want to make her throw up like she anticipated.

The thing that bothered her the most was how Ree-ree was determined to make her super uncomfortable with his stares. She was the only one who seemed to interest him the most in the room, and he found pleasure fixing his eyes on her alone. Evangeline had lost count of the number of times she’d had to hide behind her cup of water each time Aveline threw her a murderous stare from where she stood with the other demons who would cut throats to be admired like that by him.

She feared of dying more of his intense looks than their darts of jealousy being fired at her. He leaned lazily on his seat, his right hand placed under his chin as he continued to regard like she was his most prized possession.

Another thing that bothered her again was how he hadn’t been served anything. Come to think of it, ever since she had been forced to survive this dreadful place, she hasn’t seen him have the need to eat or once complained of being hungry.

She couldn’t help be worried about him. The smile on his pretty face broadening each time she would cast him a quick glance his way.

She was just too adorable.

Scenes like this reminded him of when he would just take comfort in staring at her for hours, even as long as a whole day when he was still her invisible and perfect imaginary lover. She has always been a beautiful sight to see. She makes it hard for him to be interested in anything else. Now, that she was beside him...so close, and he had intentions of making her his queen forever in this place.

He wondered what led to her putting on his coat.

He should make her wear it more often.

Darkness blushed harder. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

He would love to hear the story. Could it be because she secretly missed him the entire time he was away?

Eva leaned back in her seat when he suddenly came forward, one hand resting on the table with his other hand on her chair for support as his immaculate looks drove her senses wild. The smile lingering on his face making him look more dangerously attractive than he needs to be.

She tried a frown to put him off, but he was determined to mess with her.

’’You’ve been staring a lot, my queen,’’ he said dreamily grabbing a lot of attention from all around the table. Eva’s lips parted slightly in a small scoff at him.

He has been the one busy eating her inside out with his stares.

’’I am not your queen, Ree-ree.’’ She whispered and the smirk on his face grew by an inch, carrying along a devilish hint of amusement in them.

’’What do you want to be for me, Char?’’

She didn’t mean to stare at his face for that long without saying anything. But when she could pick up on her voice.

’’No one.’’

That seemed to make the glow in his eyes sparkle, as if turned on by everything she said. The slight chuckle that followed before relaxing back to his seat incited a slight thrill down her spine. Why did he find that funny?

She kept staring at him in slight fear to know why he found her answer very amusing.

’’Don’t you...want to eat anything?’’ She said quietly enough for him to catch and decided to fake like as if she didn’t really care if he didn’t eat anything for the rest of his life. Her attention back to her half-eaten meal. She felt the burning weight of his stares back on her again and wanted to keep it calm and controlled as much as possible.

’’I am not made for any of this.’’

She locked eyes with him. The way he said that was creepy enough, not to talk of the mysterious look that followed.

One of his hands placed on the table, the fingers drumming as he got lost in his thoughts for a while.

’’But if you are that worried about me, my queen, I will be sure to have the best meal with you once we are done here.’’

The grin that followed communicated what he meant, and Eva couldn’t hold back the horrified look that overtook her face along with the deep red blush.

Oh, god...

Unfortunately, Ree-ree turned out to also be a...

She just couldn’t wrap her head around all the wrong things about whom she once thought she knew and loved. He is the King of demons and lawlessness. What was she expecting?

He tilted his head a bit down at her in amusement at the adorable response he got from her.

Who wouldn’t be uncontrollably fond of such a pretty creature.

’’Can I...can I be excused?’’ She tried not to fumble too much in her speech. Probably, if she left the table earlier, she could have a chance at running far and faraway from here.

’’Have I gotten you already too excited about our meal together?’’ Ree-ree shamelessly said, the silence at the table after had her begging for the ground to open and swallow her up from the numerous stares she got. But he did not seem to be bothered by their looks but interested in her reaction.

The women in his harem were probably plotting multiple ways to have her killed in their head that she feared for her life after this and hoped she could get herself out of this play now or never.

Venice was the one to break their intense staring competition by clearing his throat.

Poor Eva had to push herself to her feet, almost knocking her chair over as she made her way to the heavily guarded doors of the dinning room, down a few dark and gloomy corridors looking for any door that screamed an escaped out of this place.
