Chapter 37: Seatmates

During the first class about politics and history they shared together, It would have been a smooth ride if she did not end up sitting down beside the Elf prince. The instructor in-charge of today’s lesson—-a brooding werewolf with wrinkles all over his skin even though he hasn’t aged that much— didn’t like it when you sit beside someone you are already familiar with. Pairing you beside your enemy or someone you didn’t know existed will aid your concentration in his class and prevent any form of silly side talks.

Evangeline sat stiff throughout the entire class, her heart racing as the most beautiful creature in the whole of this school—and probably the entirety of this realm—sat beside her paying prompt attention to whatever the instructor was saying. Evangeline didn’t fail to notice the glares she got from the people of their class. It wasn’t like she chose to sit beside this piece of art.

Delta Maxwell of Burning Moon Pack said so, and she dared not have anything to say against it because he looked as if he hated everyone in his class for no reason.

She gingerly glanced to his side and her eyes widened at how full his books were with notes he’d taken down when the lecture just began. His head bobbed down intelligently as he took more notes. His green eyes are hungry for more knowledge. She stared down at her blank notes and gulped nervously.

It looks like everyone could pay attention enough to jot down one or two things, while she couldn’t.

It wasn’t that she was terrible in class during her time in her world. She was a pretty average student who was satisfied with her C’s and average scores of fifty. But it has been a long time since she’d had to endure in a classroom setting and pretend to be a student once again.

’’Evangeline!’’

She jumped in her seat and blinked at the Delta who was in-charge of today’s lesson with them. Somehow, the entire class felt more deadly quiet than it already was. The Delta’s eyes seemed to narrow at her like she wasn’t doing anything right. The pressure from his stares alone didn’t help her heart from not pounding heavily in her chest.

She glanced to her side to see the Elf Prince scribbling words to her, and it read—you are supposed to stand on your feet when you are being called in class.

She let out a shaky breath and rose to her feet. The last time she had to stand whenever the teacher called her name in class was in Elementary school!

The Delta frowned at her that she wondered what she did wrong to upset him apart from not getting to her feet the moment she was being called out.

’’Your mind has not been with me since we started the class!’’

She noticed the Elf prince slowly began to switch up her notes with his in a way not many people would notice it. Even the raging teacher glaring at her from the front of the class did not notice.

’’This behavior is unlikely of you, and you should be more responsible even though you will be the next Future Alpha King of Astoria,’’ he said.

She could not say anything but held her breath. Feeling all eyes on her.

’’Tell me what I mentioned the seventh Alpha King of Astoria did when there was a great famine in the fae kingdom before it was ravaged by the people of the dungeons.’’

Luckily for her, she listened to the part mainly because it involved knowing more about what the dungeons were about. So, she answered the question, but it did not please her angry teacher a bit.

’’Pick up your notes and read out to the class all you’ve jotted down so far since the beginning of the lesson.’’

She thought her entire body had a nervous breakdown when she couldn’t move for a whole minute. She glanced towards her seatmate, who looked unbothered and had his eyes still fixed on the teacher in front.

How did he...?

Evangeline slowly picked up his notes and began to read it out loud in a quiet voice that sounded louder in the classroom. Everyone was impressed by how much she was able to pick from Delta’s lecture. She saw some students scribbling down things they weren’t able to pick and listen attentively to her.

Even Delta Maximus was surprised by her knowledge. Satisfied, he let her keep her seat and resumed his lecture. She saw Layla and Sisi from where they sat gave her a thumbs up that she was rocking this class. She responded with a nervous smile and turned to stare at her seatmate.

The next lesson was to be attended by her without Layla and Sisi. It wasn’t a general lesson but a selective one. And to her horror, Charlotte was led to a very peaceful place outside the school building and watched as all her classmates were all males, and they had to all sit on soft cushions outside the snow. Their legs folded in a crisscrossed manner as they all settled down before a platform that had impressive drawings of different martial art skills and performances drawn behind the platform. They all were instructed to take off their winter clothes and had their long hair tied in a tight up do which only made her anxious as to what this class was all about.

A moon made of what looked like pearls was mounted in the middle of the platform and two wolves—one male and one female—made of solid gold were planted at its sides and howling to it.

She stiffened again when the empty seat beside her was filled up by no other person than the Elf Prince. Her heart race began to pick up when he looked devastatingly beautiful with his long white hair forced into a tight up do and a royal pin stuck in-between.

Charlotte has always had a weakness towards guys that stand out from the crowd with their exceptional beauty. Not that she usually fell head over heels for them—but she couldn’t resist the attraction she always felt for them, no matter how hard she tried.

When the instructor for this class walked in—you could easily mistake him for a monk if not that he wasn’t bald but had his hair tied up into an up do like theirs. He stepped outside and was bathed in the snow along with two fit young men. They were only covered from their waist downwards, and Evangeline’s eyes almost fell from their sockets when they both remained unfazed to the harsh weather despite them being partly naked.

The instructor mounted the little platform along with the two ripped men who looked like they were both born in the gym. She also lowered her head in greeting when everybody around her did the moment he turned to face them.
