Chapter 36: The Elf Prince

Evangeline woke up the next morning to be dressed by Layla and Sisi before they whisked her out of the room very early in the morning so they wouldn’t be late for their lessons. Evangeline wanted to ask what these early morning lessons were, but she would rather not come out as weird or raise any suspicions. So, she pretend like she had an idea about it, sharing in their excitement as well.

’’Should we just shift, or we walk?’’ Layla asked, turning around to face her as she moved behind them. She didn’t understand why her heart began to pick up that unsteady rhythm and threatened to pull out from her chest. Could it be because she had no idea how to shift like them into werewolves?

If she asked them how or what it meant, then it would sound too suspicious.

’’Uh...is the place that far?’’

They could just ride a horse or a donkey to the place. She looked around and noticed that there were no carriages around they could board to the place. Once again, she found herself staring at them dumbly, her mouth fluttering open and close like a fish out of water.

The entity that has refused to leave her head sensed her nervousness. It’s like the entity was the only one smart enough to know she was a different soul occupying this body and has yet to be alarmed by it.

Don’t worry, just let me take over. It’s easy.

That made her even more anxious.

Allowing the strange voice in her head—persistent and unrelenting since her arrival—to take full control? Evangeline shook her head.

Or the thought of transforming into an animal with paws and furs—-it is going to hurt like hell.

’’No, it is not. We could walk over there if you’d like. We usually walk and only shift into our wolves when we are late.’’

Evangeline then gave them a nervous laugh before moving quickly before them hinting that she’d prefer walking, and it is pretty early to think they were late.

The three girls walked down the snow-covered streets of Crimson Ridge Pack. Evangeline couldn’t help but stare and admire this whole new world of shape-shifters. It looked really like a village. But a clean and properly structured one. She saw children playing outside their homes, people leaving their houses then transforming into wolves and running on the streets to mind their business.

Her lips would part in awe at the world and life surrounding her and Evangeline thought she couldn’t have enough of it. It was peaceful but not dead quiet. Life was bustling by her left and right, and she tried to keep up with the people she was familiar with the most to not get lost.

Soon, the cobbled pathway led them to a massive iron gate and after the iron gates sat a building covered in cream white and looked like an estate with three floors. It was surrounded with tall trees that some part of it were covered in snow.

She followed through the gates with them and suddenly began to grow nervous when they were not the only wolves heading towards the building. They moved past a few moving towards it in their wolf form and couldn’t help but stare.

They passed a massive frozen fountain of the statue of that naked woman sitting on the moon with a regal look on her face. It was similarly to the one she’d seen back home. It looked like the statue was made from ice, but literally, it was just frozen. Once spring arrives, they would be able to notice the true beauty of it.

’’Ah, it is so wonderful to be privileged to attend a school meant for royals and noble wolves.’’

Evangeline picked up on her words as Layla hugged herself to stare at the massive structure before them.

’’It’s so popular that even some vampires and Elfs enroll here as well,’’ Layla said, turning around to smile at them. ’’Come on, or we might be late for our first lessons.’’

They both followed behind Layla, letting her lead as they climbed the impressive stairs towards the main doors of the building. They entered and Evangeline sighed at the warmth that greeted them. They moved past what appeared to be an old-fashioned looking classroom with wolves and other creatures entering the classrooms they are meant to be in.

She kept walking behind them and self-aware of the smiles and looks she received from the ones that lingered in the hallway talking to their friends. Some even gave her a friendly wave, and she just pretended not to see them.

She literally had no idea of who they were and thought it’s best she stuck to the wolves she was more familiar and comfortable with.

’’I always like it when we get to have our first classes of the day together...’’ Layla rambled on as Evangeline found herself pausing in her tracks at the sight of a very immaculate figure swinging his sword with precise and practiced effects as the snow fell dreamily on him adding to his enchanting looks.

She moved closer to the wooden railings that gave her a beautiful view of him as she felt drawn to his charms and looks. Girls and boys gathered around him as he gave them an impressive show with his sword beaming with a strange kind of energy around it.

He flung his sword into the air and Evangeline found her cheeks reddening when he somersaulted and caught it in a way that captured every one’s heart. His martial skills were not only impressive but fluid. Like he was born to do this.

They clapped and cheered for him. Everyone falls for not only his beauty but his skillful sword moves as well. Evangeline was among those who were captivated. She wondered, being supernatural or not, how it was possible to do all those moves without having a single drop of sweat on his face. His sword moved swiftly in response to the twist and turns off his wrist and the sword in his hands looked like they were made for each other.

The moment he was done with his performance, everyone praised and cheered for him. His long, white hair falling softly around his back. His deep green eyes reminded her of lush leaves and vibrant nature. They sparkled like when the sun peaked from dark clouds moments after a heavy rain and its light fell gently on a leaf.

His jaw is sharp yet strong. There was a unique whiteness to his skin and it glistened like milk.

His full pink lips pressed into a thin line and the gentle flutter of his eyelashes was enough to make any woman fall on her knees before him.

He was perfect.

She found herself not being able to take her eyes off him with the rest.

’’That is the Elf Prince,’’ Layla whispered softly when she noticed she was captivated by him. Evangeline stared at her from the corner of her eyes. ’’The heir to the Elf kingdom. The young master of magic and an excellent student in martial arts. He just enrolled in this school yesterday because he thirsts for more knowledge and perfectionating his skills in martial arts and sword wielding. He is a pro and I bet he might be your new competitor in your class. Make sure he doesn’t steal your shine, Eva, alright?’’

Evangeline stared at Layla to see if she was insane. Did she not notice his in-human moves just now and the way he messed around with magic even controlling it with his sword? She is terrible with kitchen knives and can’t even land the tiniest punch on a pillow without breaking on the floor, and she’s not exaggerating.

She turned back to stare more at the God in human flesh that has decided to grace them with his presence and wowed them with his extraordinary abilities. Evangeline stiffened when he was already gazing towards her side. She fell back in embarrassment and turned away to hide her flaming cheeks.

She was just grateful that she was able to look away before he starts to count her among his admirers on her first day.
