Mated To The Demon Prince-Chapter 53: Dream
The memories of her previous life were showing itself bit by bit to her in dreams. She lay her head anywhere to rest, and she would be shown something she thought she’d forgotten, or she faintly remembers.
’’A...dream?’’ Layla asked her as it was difficult for them both to process what she told them. They found her whispering in her sleep and woke her up in alarm that something might be wrong with her. She tried to dismiss them that she was fine and nothing serious was happening to her. They asked her why she was mumbling in her sleep and told them she was just having some good and bad dreams.
Since then, they have found it hard to understand what she meant by it.
’’What’s that like?’’
’’Does it hurt?’’
It was Evangeline’s turn to be confused by how mystified they were when she told them she had a long dream.
Do they not dream when they sleep in this world? Is she gradually exposing herself of being an intruder in this body?
How to know what they meant by their questions and curiosity without coming out as being weird became a struggle in her mind. She stared at her ghostly companions wondering how to handle this without giving herself away.
’’Eva, are you sick? Is that some sort of illness? Should we tell grandmother about it?’’
Illness...?
What are they talking about?
’’No, I am not sick. It’s just...don’t you guys sleep and find yourself in a place that is void of time and experience things that are real and not real at the same time? You wake up and find out it never really happened, you never visited that place physically, but it was all an illusion that happened while you were at sleep?’’
Both Layla and Sisi stared at her a bit horrified by that concept. They slowly turned to face each other wondering what Eva was talking about.
Here in this realm, we don’t dream like you do in your world.
Her wolf began to explain, and she listened in disbelief.
The soul of a supernatural being here in this territory of the moon goddess is not allowed in the dream realm. She forbids it. Our minds are only opened to see visions, but we are not allowed to dream. The only thing our soul is not permitted to do.
Eva found herself once again overwhelmed by the system of this world. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Why wouldn’t a living being be allowed to dream?
What sort of imprisonment was this?
And they are not even aware that they are being denied an essential concept of living. Though she is yet to know how not having a single dream as a living being affects the person because she has never found herself in such shoes. But at the same time, she couldn’t help shake off the unsettling feeling she felt about this truth.
How boring would their sleep be without dreams?
Should she tell them what it is about?
Eva’s face mused into a smile at the both of them before ushering them to come closer to her on her bed which they eagerly did.
’’Don’t tell anyone about this, okay?’’
Layla and Sisi both promised.
’’Not too long ago and the reason I might not be acting myself lately was because the moon goddess once introduced me to a world very far from here. The world lives in secret and there is time for everything. The time for the snow to fall, the grass to grow, and the sun should share its heat. It is not a very magical world. It was sinful and interesting at the same time. They look like us, but they don’t have wolves, fangs, or claws. They are not like the vampires, the witches, or the elves. They are just normal.’’
Layla and Sisi tried to picture beings that couldn’t shape-shift, drink blood or do magic.
’’They are blessed with a maximum of one hundred years to live, and they grow old, with wrinkled skin and weak bones.’’
They both frowned at the terrible description of not being able to live five hundred years max in this world—which was a norm.
’’They are given the freewill to love and hate, to do good and evil. A system governed by religion, politics, and technology—’’
’’What is...tecknowlo...’’
Evangeline’s smile widened at the thought of having to share a bit of her world with them.
’’It is a form of sorcery. A greater form of magic, but it doesn’t happen overnight. That is the only special power these people have apart from being ordinary. They have powerful minds and can think much to the forms of gods. Their intelligence is their greatest asset and it could also be their downfall. They get to choose their life partners freely and are differentiated with the color of their skin, language, ethnicity or cultural group and sometimes by what you have to offer, and it is so easy to lose yourself to greed. I was in that world for a long time with the overwhelming presence of someone very dear to me. It made living in that world less burdensome and my eyes were opened to many things. When it was time to leave and return here with you all...unfortunately, I couldn’t bring that special person with me.’’
’’Did you get to see that strange world through...dreams?’’
Evangeline nodded with a grin. Though it wasn’t entirely a lie. That part of herself was now nothing but just a dream she could visit only when she lays her head on her pillow to sleep.
’’And you weren’t scared meeting that world?’’
With the way she’d just described the world, Layla and Sisi was one-hundred percent sure to beg the moon goddess never to take them there again. It was so strange, and they couldn’t bring themselves to imagine such a world exist without the influence of the moon god in their midst. A life without having to shift into a wolf—was the most unimaginable and unreal.
They’ve always thought their world was the only thing in the universe. The moon god might be busy creating new ones. But they are yet to know her and accept her gifts and teachings.
Evangeline shook her head that she wasn’t scared. She told them she anticipated visiting that world again because of that special person.
’’Well... Eva...we don’t want you going to other words through that medium again. It sounds dangerous, and you can get stuck there one day...’’
Evangeline stared down sadly at the hands that cupped hers tightly. She was not going anywhere again. Not after the multiple promises she’s made to people and the heavy amount of hope many people have on her to change this world for good.
’’But since that person mean so much to you, and it is the reason you are drawn to that other world...why don’t we pray to the moon goddess at her temple, to bring that person here to you so you can remain here with us and stop having those dreams?’’
