Mated To The Demon Prince-Chapter 54: Moon Temple
That day after lunch, they dressed up and journeyed up a snowy mountain where the moon temple was. Evangeline wasn’t really excited to see this temple like how Layla and Sisi were. Instead, she was a bit distracted by a hooded figure following them up the snowy mountains at a distance, doing a very terrible job to staying hidden. The figure looked so much like one of the two young men her judo instructor once brought to demonstrate before them on her first day of class.
She has also seen him following closely behind her on her way home and back to school countless times—hoping he was hidden enough for her not to notice. She has once considered meeting and asking him what he wanted, but at the same time, he might just be a creep that can be dangerous. It’s best if she keeps her distance to avoid being murdered or kidnapped by him whichever way.
’’Ohhh, the moon goddess!’’ Layla’s voice echoed as she carelessly jumped from one rock to another. On this steep mountain she and Sisi have been so careful not to lose their footing and fall off the edge. ’’So beautiful and divine. So gracious in all her ways. The righteous god and benevolent mother of all creations. How lovely it is to come before you again.’’
Evangeline wondered if it was necessary to say all that to a god that might not even know she existed. But either way, their faith and love for this enigma was indescribable. It would be a shame if the God was not really who they portray her to be. This is not the first time good gods were found to be secretly evil with sinister intentions. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
She turned her body while on a rock to stare down at them with a massive grin on her face. But her grin disappeared when her gaze fell on Evangeline, which made her curious to know why her face turned bitter at her.
’’What?’’
’’Don’t worry, it’s nothing.’’
Evangeline refused to believe it was nothing. It felt like she thought of something that made her face look so paler than it already was.
’’You looked like I had plans to kill you on this mountain,’’ She breathed out while steadying herself on a rock, extending her hands to bring Sisi to her. ’’What is it?’’
Layla breathed out a soft cold sigh as her face grew remorseful.
’’It’s just that since you rejected your mate—the mate you bothered her about all day and night that you want, the moon goddess might not really be pleased to...’’
’’See me?’’ Evangeline scoffed. It should be the other way around. Vesta said she was responsible for trapping her into this body and world, killing an innocent follower of hers in the process, for what reason? ’’Well, I am not pleased to see her to.’’
Layla gave out a sharp breath with her eyes widening at her rebellion.
Who pares someone with a monster like Alpha Jack? And expects her to live happily ever after with him when he was nothing but a controlling freak that lusted after her?
’’Evangeline, you don’t say things like that when we are on her mountain. It can hinder our prayers,’’ Layla quickly whispered as they continued to mount up to the supposed moon temple.
Which goddess makes her temple to be on a snowy and steep mountain where the chances of you slipping and falling to your death was possible.
She rolled her eyes and was determined to get this over with.
She would ask her to bring her Ree-ree to her if she wants things to continue her way. As they climbed, careful not to lose each other, Evangeline could already see the faint outline of a building with bright blue roofs covered partly with the raining blizzard on them.
Once they reached the top, and were able to pull each other up, Evangeline stared at the temple for the first time.
It was as big as the whole top of this mountain. Her followers really outdid themselves. Massive white pillars with golden lines of belt around them supported the impressive structure that was built in what looked like steps. They began to climb the wide stairs and followed Layla and Sisi straight to the room of prayers and worship.
The temple was overly decorated with flowers that withered in this weather. Burnt offerings and tools of sacrifices laid around in the hall of worship. Evangeline was carried away by the architecture of the hall. Many golden seats were arranged side by side before the long aisle that led to a massive and pure golden structure of the image of the moon goddess. She, as expected, was sitting on the moon, looking so pure and innocent. The statute was surrounded with wolves and other sorts of abomination that exists in this fantasy world.
They were all made in their expected position of worship. The wolves howling and the elves doing some sort of magical dance.
Layla and Sisi took off their shoes, and they all walked inside the hall of worship in their bare feet.
They stood before the statue that was as massive as the Statue of Liberty back home and found herself kneeling before it and bowing her head completely in submission to this image. They did that for what felt like six times before standing to their feet.
’’Let her hear what you truly desired. Connect with her by laying bare before her. Tell her to forgive you of your sins as she listens to the wishes of your heart and grants them,’’ Layla began, resuming to sit on the cold, bare floor in a crisscrossed manner. Both of her hands resting on her laps with the thumb resting on the closest finger as she took in deep breaths with her eyes falling close.
Both her and Sisi imitated her position beside her.
’’Instead of using our mouths to bombard her with all the desires of our heart, let all just stay calm and embrace the peace she gives. She will only listen if you are completely still and your heart is laid open before her.’’
