Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 183: Do you love me?
Chapter 183: Do you love me?
Compared to the first time she was left to herself, the next day felt much worse. The servant who had delivered the food the day before while she was bathing hadn’t even entered. He knocked with his head bowed to the ground, and after Violet quickly gave him permission to enter, he slid the food trolley in before running off just as quickly.
"Wa—" The door slammed behind him, his head almost bowed to his waist before Violet could leap in his direction. As angry as she was, she could also imagine the fear they had toward Cain, considering the way he had treated their predecessors.
"...and what others he had given!" she mumbled to herself as she dropped onto the bed, her gaze on the trolley, which she didn’t immediately move closer to. Instead, she chose to move toward the part of the chain tied around her ankle that was fixed to the wall, wondering if there was a way to dislodge it.
"Does he really expect me to stay in this room for the rest of my life?" she wondered, looking around only to realize that the room was completely intact compared to before, which was probably why he had instructed the servant not to look at anything.
"He’s still pretending to be taking the potion!" she thought to herself as she pulled against the chain lodged inside the wall with all the strength she could muster, only to fall to the floor a few seconds later, gasping for breath.
"I won’t be surprised if he used metal that even a werewolf would have issues breaking!" she thought with an angry expression on her face as she glared at the chains around her ankle and the collar she had to constantly bathe with, pretending it wasn’t actually there.
With a huge frown on her face, Violet still walked toward the food trolley and ate her fill before bathing and eating some more. She picked a different movie to watch as she mused about the kind of useless life she was suddenly living.
Hours went by as she fell asleep and woke up, eating some more without care, mentally hoping that she would get fat enough that Cain would lose all interest in her, offering her money to leave the next day.
Evening slowly passed, and night fell. Violet, intent on staying awake regardless of how long it took for Cain to return, had just begun to doze off at half past midnight when she heard the sound of a door being pushed open, jerking awake the next moment almost on instinct.
Rubbing her eyes as she heard the door close, her eyes fluttered open as she watched Cain enter. There was nothing in his hands this time, and he had a long jacket on, which he slowly took off, revealing the powerful muscles of his arms, which Violet completely ignored as she blurted out.
"I can’t keep staying in this room all day! It’s not healthy for me!" she said, not knowing what else to say to convince him to unlock her and stop treating her like a pet. She continued talking with the most sincere tone she could muster, especially since she genuinely felt that way.
"I’m sorry! I’m sorry I stole from you, and I swear...I’ll do all I can to get your father’s watch back!" she promised, a dark foreboding on the horizon as she watched Cain continue to silently take off his jacket with a blank expression on his face, looking at her without saying a word.
"...and all the other things I took. A-a-a hundred million, right?" she said, stuttering hard as she struggled to say the amount of money Cain had mentioned those things were worth.
Her anxiety increased as, regardless of what she said, almost like a habit, Cain simply began to roll his sleeves up. He leaned against his study table, leaning his body toward her in a way that allowed them to face each other despite the distance.
"I-I-I can try to—"
"Including the amount I spent buying you, that’s 200 million. Normally, considering your background, it’s not an amount you’ll ever see for the rest of your life!" A frank statement, but to Violet’s ears, it felt more like an attack as she balled her fists in response and glared at him. Her tone was no longer soft.
"Then what do you want from—"
"You’re my pet! What does an owner want from a pet?" Cain asked her, even as Violet’s eyes widened ever so slightly. Looking into his eyes from where she sat on the bed, she realized that he was completely and utterly serious about every word he uttered.
"Your body and soul belong to me. Life and death...teeth and bone. You belong to me, Violet!" he said, his words making her swallow the lump in her throat as the intensity with which Cain looked at her was more than she could bear.
Averting her gaze, she had no choice but to glance back at him as he continued talking, his hands folded across his chest.
"From the moment you ran away from me and I bought you...you were no longer my mate but a—" This time, Violet couldn’t bear to let him finish.
"Are you serious? You’re actually going to treat me like a pet even after yesterday?" she asked, refusing to back down as she stamped down the shy feelings she felt simply from mentioning it.
"We had sex! Isn’t that what lovers—" She was interrupted by a chuckle as Cain’s expression darkened, his gaze turning colder, almost making her flinch back.
"Do you love me, Violet?" he asked. Violet found it hard to breathe as the tension in the air rose enough to suffocate her simply from the way Cain looked at her, daring her to lie to him. His hands tightened in a way that made her realize that if she so much as dared to open her mouth and say something that bordered on a lie...he would hurt her.
"You’re my pet!" he said after a full moment of utter silence had passed. "...If you want something...come here and beg for it!"
