Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 189: Bring me a Knife
Chapter 189: Bring me a Knife
Coughing in a low tone, Eldric hurriedly drank from his cup as he spoke, his focus back on the topic even as he ignored the desire he always felt but knew better than to act on, considering the great price the sly witch in front of him would demand.
She had killed his brother, and although he had helped her, he knew better than to let his guard down. From the moment she found the opportunity she was looking for, he knew she wouldn’t hesitate to kill him.
Even as they spoke in the room, his hand hovered over the button under the counter of the bar, which he would immediately press the second he so much as felt that something was off.
If she wanted to kill him, then she would have to die too! He had ordered that the moment anything was wrong with him, missiles should be launched, and the entire mansion should be leveled. He fixed his gaze on the old seductress, who continued to speak softly to him.
"Of course...getting a child of his would have been a necessary insurance. Enough for him to no longer be useful to us once we’ve made sure that the baby is healthy and no harm would come to it. It would be nice if it were a boy, but regardless of gender, our plans would have moved faster!" she said, tossing a pointed look at Eldric, who understood that that part was one he should have taken care of with his adopted daughter.
"Yes! But right now, she’s missing! For all I know, she could be dead!" Eldric responded, only for Lady June to shrug her shoulders and shake her head as she leaned even more elegantly against the counter.
"Any womb would be good enough! Any woman! Cain’s genes are all we need!" She sighed, knowing that she wouldn’t have even needed insurance if she was confident that nothing would go wrong. But considering how delicate and revolutionary the experiment she had spent decades planning was...she refused to let anything ruin it.
"Until then! Cain is to be kept alive and drinking more of the potion that will make him strong enough for vampire cells to merge with his werewolf genes!" she said right before she downed the contents of her cup and got to her feet, sending an inquiring glance at Eldric, almost as if she were asking him if there was anything more he needed to say before she had to leave.
"You should be able to track my daughter, yes?" Eldric asked, knowing enough about magic to understand how resourceful it was. He wasn’t surprised to see Lady June immediately nod her head. "Send a bit of her parents’ or siblings’ blood to me. I’ll do the rest!" she said, willing to do it for free if it meant that they would no longer have to stall.
"What about the love potion?" Eldric asked, and Lady June visibly frowned, her young face showing immense annoyance followed by a hint of coldness as she fixed her gaze on Eldric.
"An aphrodisiac should be good enough. What do you think I am? GOD?" she asked, turning around as she dug into the purse she had with her and brought out a pale white potion, which she slowly uncapped as she mused to herself.
Well, if the immortal potion succeeds, then I might get closer to him! she thought to herself as she drank the potion in her hands, the effects immediate even before it had fully settled in her stomach.
Her body slowly began to disappear, one part after the other, from her face to her hands and down to her torso until no parts of her could be seen, including her clothes and the purse she held.
Eldric didn’t hesitate to raise his voice as he ushered Ravon back in, who instantly pulled open the door and was about to close it only to pause as he heard Eldric speak to him before he could even have the chance to drop to his knees.
"Does Cain care for this woman he brought, or does he consider her disposable?" he asked, a flash of anger in his gaze as Ravon instantly shook his head and lowered it in fright even before he spoke words he knew would piss Eldric off.
"I have no clue. He hasn’t brought her out, and no one has really seen her. But he brought her in a cage, which definitely means that he probably does not—" but Ravon was still speaking in probabilities and maybes when he heard Eldric raise his voice at him.
"GET OUT! You’re utterly useless!" And as much as Ravon would have liked to refute it, he didn’t dare, aware that Eldric could kill him and bury his body in the ground at the backyard as fertilizer for the roses within the hour.
"As my lord wishes!" Ravon rushed out and closed the door behind him, not daring to take a breath of relief as he continued walking, doing his best to distance himself from where Eldric was as soon as possible. He headed straight to his car, which would take him to the airstrip and the jet that would take him back to Cain’s district.
I’ve been too laidback. Cain isn’t the only threat to my life! he thought to himself, realizing that Eldric was much worse since he had control over his family, who lived in his district. He didn’t once doubt the fact that Eldric would send their fingers to him one after the other, considering it was something Eldric had once done to his lover, Louise.
I need to find out more information and, if possible, get closer to Cain! His body trembled at the thought as he recalled the smell of blood and the ease with which Cain had killed all the servants. He was still not sure why Cain hadn’t gone looking for him.
Still, Ravon put it aside and instead focused on heading back, only satisfied hours later when he finally got back to the mansion and got out of the car, having already spent hours planning on how to get Cain to bring the woman out so he could gather more details to send back to Eldric.
But he had just gotten to the door when he heard loud whispering, which could only come from the unprofessional servants who had replaced the professional ones.
"She’s so ordinary! The dress is the only thing that made her worth looking at!"
"She has a collar around her neck! He’s definitely using her for sex! Who knows what sort of dark fetish he has!"
"Still! When he’s done, I won’t mind—" but Ravon was too proud to continue eavesdropping as he stepped in, cracking the door open with authority and a huge frown on his face, not surprised to see the servants fall to their knees.
"The Lord brought the woman out?" he asked in a low but commanding tone, his brows squeezed together as he wondered where they could have possibly gone, only to hear one of the more radical servants speak.
"I have no idea, Lord Ravon, but they took the official cars. I-I heard him mention something about a council meeting!" the servant obediently responded, eager to please Ravon so that he might look favorably upon him. But his words only pissed Ravon off more as he realized that with all that had happened, he had forgotten that instead of coming back, he could have simply waited for Cain in Eldric’s district.
But he forgot, and now, by the time he got there, the meeting would have been over, and they would be on their way back.
"Fuck!" he swore to himself, focusing furious eyes on the servant who had spoken, intent on taking his anger out on someone—and who better than the servants who didn’t know better than to gossip about their master.
"Bring me a knife!" he told the eager one who had spoken, while the others knelt with their heads bowed, not surprised to see the servant instantly get up to do as he said, not knowing that the knife he was bringing was meant for him.
