Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 36: The Wrong Decision
Chapter 36: The Wrong Decision
"My lord! I can assure you that I did nothing else!" she said in a more desperate tone, but again she was ignored, only to watch Cain gesture with his hands for her to move closer and stand beside him.
For a few seconds, she couldn’t bring herself to move, but when she finally did, even her knees trembled as they barely kept her standing, preventing her from becoming a puddle on the floor as she moved to stand beside Cain, who continued to sit on the tub. His gaze finally shifted to look at her, yet it almost felt like he wasn’t looking at her as he began to speak again.
"I set my last assistant on fire. He stole a bottle of ink for his sponsor, who was obsessed with me, and I set him on fire along with the room!"
Violet wasn’t sure when tears began to slide down her face. She could no longer hear anything but Cain and the loud thumping of her heart on the brink of a seizure.
"Compared to this! This is much milder, don’t you agree?" he asked, and Violet could barely speak. Her voice cracked as she opened her mouth, her vision blurred with tears as she felt Cain grab her right hand, which visibly trembled even as he held on to it. Violet tried to pull it back, but Cain simply intertwined their fingers, his palm covering the back of her hand. He had just pulled her right into his arms when he plunged both their hands into the water. frёeωebɳovel.com
Pain tore through her hand as she gasped, swallowing the urge to scream as she focused her gaze on the ground, knowing that staring at the hand would only make it worse.
"You like men!" he declared with a whisper against her neck. "I can smell him on you! I can’t have my assistant doing such a disgusting thing behind my back!" Cain said, pulling his hand out and Violet’s arm with it as he continued to hold on to it.
"I swear! I’ve never slept with anyone before!" she cried, tears sliding down her face. "He forced me down and licked me!" she cried.
She had no idea why Cain had such a reaction to it or how he knew what had happened, but her pain tolerance was low, and at that point, she was ready to confess to anything he wanted to know, including all her secrets, if he asked her to.
"Pl-please!" she pleaded, the thought of her hands being placed back into the water enough to terrify her to the core. It didn’t help when she felt Cain’s arms around her tighten even more as he pulled her right into his chest.
"He forced you?" His tone was even icier when he spoke as he pulled her away and up until he was staring right into her eyes as he asked her the same question again.
"He licked you, with his tongue?" he asked, and Violet nodded, wondering what else he could have possibly licked her with, eyes still wet from tears even as she slowly felt the pain dull.
Looking down at her hand, she was stunned to see that Cain’s arm looked even more bruised and injured than hers did, recalling how only her palm had been made to face the onslaught of the water.
She wanted to think about it more, but she refused to. At that point, all she cared about was distancing herself from him as much as possible. But the thought had just occurred to her when she felt him pull her back into his arms.
"You’re not lying to me, are you?" he asked, placing his hand against her jaw and pulling her face towards him in a way that prevented her from being able to look away.
"I wouldn’t dare!" she croaked out before he finally let her go, Violet scrambling away and already edging for the door when she heard him speak again.
"What’s his name?" he asked, his gaze back on the water, but his tone was even more frigid, so much so that it scared Violet, even though it was exactly what she wanted. The only terrible part was that there was a chance that the second she gave him Rane’s name, he would want to question him first.
Instead of speaking, she hesitated, and again she watched as Cain’s anger flared deep in his eyes as he turned to look at her, pointing at the tub.
"Get in!" he ordered, and this time around, Violet didn’t hesitate as she began to speak. She had no idea why Cain seemed to care, but she simply chalked it up to her being his personal servant, which he felt more possessive of compared to his other servants.
Stamping the thought in her mind as she tried not to think of how the person before her had died a terribly painful death.
"His-his name is Rane. He lives next to me! He—he deserves the worst!" Her body shook as she realized the heaviness of what she was about to do, but that didn’t in the slightest make her back down.
"Are-are you going to kill him?" Violet asked, raising her head to look at him, Cain’s gaze already fixed on her face even as he responded in a cooler tone and sly smirk on his face.
"You don’t want me to?" he asked her, and Violet immediately shook her head, even as her body trembled even more, her fists clenched together as she continued to shake her head and slowly said the words she struggled to belt out but desperately needed to say.
"You can kill him, bu-but I want his tongue!" she said with a fierce look in her eyes, even as her heart raced and thumped louder in her ears as she came to terms with what she had said.
But she had just finished speaking when she watched Cain smile, even as she contemplated taking her words back. Did he really deserve to die? He threatened me, but it’s not like he actually did it! Does he really deserve such treatment? Can I really be responsible for someone’s death? The thoughts were still going through her mind when she heard Cain let out a shrill whistle, shocked to see a guard appear in front of them, almost like he had materialized from thin air.
Violet was still marveling at the powers and the supernatural existence she was slowly coming to terms with when she heard Cain give an order.
"Find Rane and cut off his tongue. Bring both of them to me!" Cain ordered, and Violet had to reach over to hold the wall for support, her entire face paling in horror at what she had just done.
