Chapter 1036: Leaving

Anthony didn’t speak; he simply stared at Vega with a smile as she worked her magic, his gaze steady and quietly observant. Honestly, he couldn’t understand how this particular innate ability of Vega seemed to work... well, he had never seriously thought about it to begin with, nor had he ever felt the pressing need to unravel its mysteries.

Once, he had tried buying such an ability from the system, but to his surprise, he couldn’t; ??? had said it was only exclusive to Vega, and that he should steal it from his own girlfriend. After that, Anthony had given up on the ability, though the thought still lingered faintly in the back of his mind. Even so, he still felt quite tempted to try creating it on his own someday.

With his Limitless talent, he didn’t always have to rely on the system to buy a skill or ability, unless it was something beyond his current knowledge and self, like Authorities and Concepts, which existed on an entirely different level of existence and comprehension.

But he didn’t, as ??? had said he should leave it for Vega; besides, who knew, what if, in the means of creating it, ??? interfered.

’I wonder if Aaaninja had the same feeling I had when I climbed to the Apexus Mana Rank,’ Anthony thought to himself. He had forgotten to ask Aaaninja that because he had been in a rush at the time, his priorities lying elsewhere.

When Anthony had broken into the Apexus Mana Rank, he had felt something... a presence, a pull, like a beckoning, a sensation that something, or rather, someone, was calling out to him from somewhere beyond his reach.

At that time, he had automatically understood that climbing to the Apexus Mana Rank was the requirement for this so-called ’beckoning,’ so he wanted to know if Aaaninja had felt the same ’beckoning’ when he reached that level.

’I will ask him next time; after all, we will soon meet up for the full invasion of those Angels,’ Anthony concluded, his thoughts settling with quiet certainty.

And in truth, Aaaninja had felt the same thing; he too had sensed the beckoning, but he hadn’t exactly paid it much attention at the time since he had been focused on his battle with Anthony, and on understanding his new abilities and upgraded skills.

After returning to his estate, Aaaninja had asked the River Of Time what the beckoning was, but the River Of Time had only told him that he would find out when he answered the calling, offering no further explanation.

Anthony’s sky-blue eyes remained on Vega, ’I wonder if she too would feel the beckoning,’ he thought to himself, his curiosity faint yet present.

Although Anthony hadn’t exactly asked anyone about it, he knew that not every Apexus Mana Rank individual felt this beckoning, and probably every single Apexus Mana Ranker he knew at this moment hadn’t experienced it at all.

’Klaus and Amara should know,’ he thought to himself but didn’t bother to ask them; he would find out himself whenever he felt like it, perhaps when boredom eventually crept in.

His eyes remained on Vega as she flickered through the room, her figure blurring as though testing her new speed, Mana around her coiling and flowing as she tested her new control with precision and grace. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

After a moment, she stopped with a smile on her face, one that clearly showed her extreme satisfaction with her current state and the power she now wielded.

"You done?" Anthony’s voice cut in from the side as he simply stared at her, his tone casual yet attentive.

Vega’s purple eyes turned to him as she spoke, "I am," her voice calm, carrying a quiet sense of satisfaction.

If Veronica, who was eating a pill at this moment trying to increase her talent, saw this scene, she wouldn’t know whether to laugh or to cry. While she was still at the Grandmaster Mana Rank, Vega was already just a step away from the peak of the Galaxy’s Mana Rank.

Her trying to bridge the gap between her and Vega was simply wishful thinking. Even if she acquired a talent that equaled Vega, Lucian, and Aaaninja’s, she would still need time, time she simply didn’t have, to reach their level.

And with Vega’s broken Perfect Clone ability, Veronica had no hope of closing such a gap between them, or even with anybody else. Her backing was simply Lucian, and nobody else. She was just a normal girl trying to compete with abnormal people with abnormal backing.

The earlier she gave up, the better it would be for her, though whether she would accept that truth was another matter entirely.

"So, what next?" Anthony asked with a smile, his curiosity mild but genuine.

Vega fell into her thoughts, "Well, we just moved from one schedule to another. From seclusion to the Galactical meeting, then to the Ramen Singularity Timeline, then to the spar... honestly, I don’t even know," she spoke as she tapped her jaw lightly, deep in contemplation.

"But..." she sighed as she continued, "I can’t stay with you for now. I need to enter seclusion to go through the things that I’ve gained. With the Eyes Of The Universe, the gains I’ve had are quite immense, a lot to process," she added, sounding slightly reluctant, as though she didn’t want to leave.

Anthony stared at her; of course, he knew everyone had gained something one way or the other during the spar, "But can’t you just pass it off to one of your Perfect Clones? You know, they should go through all this and pass it to you as usual," he suggested, genuinely confused as to why she needed to personally enter seclusion.

Previously, when she could only use a single Perfect Clone, Vega made that clone focus on cultivation while she focused on other aspects of training. But now, with three Perfect Clones, she didn’t need to do anything anymore, or at least that was how it appeared.

But Vega shook her head as she spoke, "That won’t work, I personally need to do this," her voice calm yet firm, leaving no room for argument.

Anthony gazed at her with an expressionless face, then sighed as he knew he couldn’t exactly stop her, "When do you plan to leave?" he asked, already expecting the answer.

"Probably now," Vega replied without missing a beat, her decision already made long before the conversation began.

"Now? But we just came back. Don’t you need time to, you know, unwind and enjoy the air and stuff?" Anthony asked as he stared at her beautiful face, his tone carrying a hint of disbelief.

Vega shook her head; she already felt left out that she didn’t participate in the spar, which was her own fault. After all, the gains from watching and participating were entirely different, and she had missed out on firsthand experience.

"Where will you be?" Anthony asked, his voice softer this time.

"At my parents’ house," Vega stated simply, her tone leaving no room for ambiguity.

Anthony sighed, his body dropping onto the bed, his back hitting the soft sheets with a defeated motion. He stared at the ceiling, his expression unreadable.

"Don’t be all sad, I will be back soon. Besides, you are already strong, allow the rest of us to catch up," Vega spoke as she walked towards him. She sat beside him as he lay on the bed, her presence warm and familiar. "Don’t miss me too much. Besides, I’m sure you have friends to visit," she added with a smile.

She lowered herself and planted a gentle kiss on Anthony’s forehead, her lips lingering for just a brief moment, "I will be back," she said softly.

With those last words, she vanished from where she was, leaving no trace behind, as she was certain Anthony wouldn’t say anything else, and perhaps because she knew that if she stayed any longer, she might hesitate.
