MMORPG: I was BUGGED-Chapter 311: A New Arc Started
As the digital world continued its relentless course, the gaming community buzzed with excitement over the recent triumphs of Brotherhood Legion, Phoenix Rising, Shadowblade, and Doombringers in clearing the notorious Castle of Doom.
Screenshots, videos, and tales of their epic battles flooded social media, leaving the gaming realm in awe of their achievements.
Yet, amidst the ongoing hype, another wave of anticipation surged through the virtual landscapes –– the official Guildbane Auction.
The Guildbane Auction, a grand event in the gaming world, unfolded in a vast virtual space where players from different corners of the globe gathered to bid on legendary-grade equipment and rare in-game items, whether they’re bidding with their avatar or online at the comfort of their home.
This time, however, the atmosphere crackled with an unprecedented fervor as a mysterious announcement echoed through the airwaves.
Legend-grade items were uncommon in Guildbane Auctions, but what set this particular event apart was the auction of information –– the key to clearing the Castle of Doom.
Guilds that had fallen short in their attempts to conquer the castle in the past were now scrambling to secure this vital knowledge, their desperation evident in the rapid escalation of bidding prices.
In a matter of seconds, the bidding war reached an astonishing 10 million in-game currency, and the numbers continued to climb.
The bidding war for the Castle of Doom information raged on, the virtual currency climbing to unprecedented heights.
Guild leaders huddled in meeting spaces, debating the worth of the information and calculating the potential benefits for their respective guilds.
The Castle of Doom had become an enigma, a challenge that had eluded many, and the prospect of obtaining the solution drove guilds into a frenzied competition for the coveted information.
Meanwhile, the renowned Brotherhood Legion, Rising Phoenix, Eclipse, and Doombringers who had successfully conquered the Castle of Doom, were not basking in this Auction.
Instead, they were gearing up for another escapade, this time venturing towards one of the Seven Wonders of Guildbane.
However, Xin, the key players in their previous success, found himself uninterested in the current commotion.
Besides, he couldn’t employ the same tactic of infiltrating guilds without arousing suspicion –– they would undoubtedly be more cautious this time around.
Thus far, no guilds or individuals had persistently approached him, questioning whether he was Lord Schrodinger, the one who infiltrated the Castle of Doom.
It appeared that Ragnarok Reaper and others had indeed honored their agreement, a fact for which he appreciated.
Nevertheless, occasional contract offers continued to arrive, but Xin chose to disregard them.
Like usual, Guildbane buzzed with activity as players go about their business.
Brotherhood Legion, having proven their mettle, aimed for yet another remarkable feat. Their reputation preceded them, and the anticipation surrounding their next venture added an electrifying element to the gaming community.
Xin, however, was preoccupied with matters outside the gaming realm. His mind lingered on the complexities of his real-life situation, particular . . . what was he going to do with all the money he had acquired?
Maybe he would asked about it later with Seraphina.
At the moment, Xin found himself at a crossroads. The thrill of dungeon clearing had lost its luster for the moment, and the prospect of engaging in warfare or boss battles didn’t appeal to him either.
Xin needed a break, a moment of respite from Guildbane.
That Castle of Doom had taken a toll on him.
Deciding to take a step back from the intense gaming activities, Xin opted for a different kind of adventure –– he decided to indulge in the simple pleasure of buying his needs and wants. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Opting for a sleek black and powerful motorcycle from a well-known brand, Xin desired to have his personal ride, ensuring that both he and Xiaxia would no longer have to rely on public transportation or be subject to Seraphina’s constant kindness.
The loot from the Castle of Doom and the subsequent Guildbane Auction had granted him a wealth that could sustain him until the end of his life with his current lifestyle.
But since he have his sister and mother to take care of, he needed to grind still if he wanted them to live a life of comfort.
Contemplating the future, Xin hatched a plan to renovate their house.
By the new year, he envisioned his family returning to a home transformed into a haven of comfort and security.
The virtual currency and treasures amassed from his Guildbane exploits would fund this project, and Xin felt a sense of purpose in ensuring his family’s well-being.
In the midst of his planning, Xin had discussed the matter with Seraphina before.
However, her casual suggestion that they could continue staying in the apartment for as long as they wished didn’t sit well with him.
The prospect of returning to their original home held sentimental value for Xin. It wasn’t just about a physical space; it represented a sense of stability and a connection to their roots.
His mother and sister were his anchors, and the promise of a renovated home served as a testament to his commitment to their well-being.
The following day, in the parking lot, Seraphina found herself taken aback as Xin and Xiaxia unexpectedly pulled up to school atop Xin’s new motorcycle.
"Do you have your license?" Seraphina inquired, her surprise expertly masked.
Xin nodded confidently. "Student license. They’re quite lenient if you’re still a student, and they issued one on the spot when I bought the motorcycle."
"I see . . ." Seraphina replied, her response guarded.
Sighing as she secured her helmet, Xiaxia added, "Don’t worry, Xin has mastered the art of motorcycle riding long before. Although, I’m not entirely sure about the present," she quipped.
Revving the engine, Xin advised, "Hold on tight," before offering a nod in Seraphina’s direction. "See you at school."
"Goodbye, Seraphina! Let’s catch up later!" Xiaxia waved, and with that, Xin and Xiaxia rode away, leaving Seraphina with her thoughts.
Unable to resist a smirk, she tapped her well-manicured nails against her red lips. "A motorcycle, huh . . ."
Seraphina mused, briefly imagining herself riding behind Xin, holding him close.
Facing her driver, she instructed, "Make sure to take Xiaxia and her friend to the spa later."
The driver, though clueless, nodded obediently. It wasn’t his place to question his lady’s decisions, no matter how sudden it was.
