Chapter 329: The Unseen Threat

=====================

The DEVELOPERs Distress

=====================

"So, they’ve finally stumbled upon the elusive Golden Tail Kitsune in the Lost Forest."

"No wonder there’s been a surge in traffic there."

"Could Lord Schrodinger be there right now?"

"No doubt about it. Wherever there’s trouble, that guy is always there."

"And I’m sure he’s changed his name by now."

"At this point, it seems impossible to pinpoint who he is or where he might be."

"Did you send an email to this Xin, though?"

"Yes."

"And his reply?" 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

Everyone fell silent, exchanging knowing glances.

"What? What did he say?"

"Well . . ."

"Spit it out!"

"He didn’t reply. He just blocked us."

"I think he thought we were spam."

"Spam? He’s the one who’s bugged!"

"I can’t believe he would think that, especially considering it’s the official email and logo of the company we used."

"That’s quite amusing. He must really be Lord Schrodinger."

"We can’t point fingers unless we have solid evidence."

"Should we approach him?"

"No. If we accuse him without evidence, we might get sued. We could end up paying damages to his reputation if we’re not careful."

"This is a tricky situation."

"Nowadays, you can’t do anything without the fear of being sued."

"So true. Last day my neighbor got sued because he insulted my other neighbors’ cat."

"Let’s just keep an eye out and handle this very carefully."

"By the way, on a side note, is the Golden Tail Kitsune acquirable?"

Those who didn’t know were curious, and those who knew grinned evilly.

"Let’s just say that it’s theoretically acquirable. However, whether they can successfully acquire it or not is another matter entirely."

The others looked at each other.

As Tristan and the members of Doom Serenity hastily proceeded in the direction indicated by the player before, an air of anticipation and eagerness enveloped their every step.

The murmur of hurried footsteps resonated in the forest, each footfall echoing a sense of urgency mixed with the thrill of an impending encounter with a new boss.

The auditory backdrop began to shift, a symphony of chaotic sounds gradually taking shape. Faint echoes of fighting and screams infiltrated the air, building a crescendo that heightened Tristan’s senses.

Instead of instilling fear, these sounds seemed to stoke the flames of excitement within him. The prospect of a new boss, the thrill of a Legend Grade item, fueled his anticipation.

As they approached the scene, the cacophony of battle became more distinct, creating a vivid soundscape that intertwined with a fight.

The scene began to materialize, revealing three players huddled together with trembling knees, weapons drawn, and eyes scanning the surroundings with unease.

The atmosphere was charged with tension, the uncertainty of what lay ahead palpable in their cautious postures.

Upon closer inspection, Tristan noted the absence of any visible beast or monstrous entity nearby.

He wasn’t worried though. His confidence in his abilities surged, reinforced by the reassuring presence of his second group trailing closely behind.

Tristan surveyed the scene with a calculating gaze, assessing the demeanor of the distressed players.

Their bewildered expressions hinted at an unseen threat, and the subtle tremor in their stance suggested a lingering sense of peril.

Yet, the absence of a visible adversary left a peculiar void in the narrative.

The trees stood tall, their leaves rustling with a hint of tension. The ground beneath seemed to hold the echoes of the recent skirmish, dirt marked with traces of struggle. The ambient lighting played tricks on the shadows, creating an illusion of lurking danger.

Tristan’s excitement was not dampened by the apparent absence of the beast.

Instead, it fueled his curiosity, a hunger for the unknown and the promise of rare treasures that awaited them.

In this moment, Tristan couldn’t help but smile, feeling the surge of adrenaline coursing through his veins as he prepared to face the boss.

"What’s happening here?" Tristan inquired.

The three players, upon spotting Tristan’s group, consecutively released a collective breath, as if they had found a lifeline.

"H-help us!"

"You’re players, right?!"

"W-we’ll pay you!"

Tristan suppressed a smirk. Pay him? The notion amused him.

He didn’t need their money and he was definitely not there to help.

As soon as he had the information on the boss, he planned to eliminate them himself.

Tristan was on the verge of opening his mouth to inquire about the boss when, out of nowhere, something strange materialized behind the trio.

Clad in black armor, it initially appeared as a massive ball of obsidian plates, wielding a blade twice the size of it.

In one swift motion, it struck the trio, rendering them incapacitated.

The unfortunate players didn’t even have time to blink before bursting into particles, the cause of their demise unknown.

The black apparition then vanished once more, leaving no trace behind.

Everything happened in the blink of an eye, and Tristan couldn’t even discern the name of the boss, as the monster moved with incredible speed.

The sudden appearance and disappearance left the group in stunned silence, their senses trying to catch up with what had happened.

A heavy, tense silence descended, and everyone could feel it in their bones that something wasn’t right.

They sensed it, this enemy . . . wasn’t something they could defeat.

"T-Tristan . . ." Tiffany called worriedly. "I don’t think—!"

"AaArRgH!"

Tiffany couldn’t finish her words when a piercing cry resonated in their ranks.

Looking to where the sound came from, they saw that two people were missing in a blink.

"S-hit!"

"It’s here!"

"The boss is here!"

"It’s picking us off one by one!"

Another cry sounded, and now only five of them remained, while the rest were nothing but particles dissolving in thin air.

"Everyone, huddle together!" Tristan ordered, and they all crumbled into a circle with their backs facing each other to cover every angle.

"Stay vigilant. The second group will be here soon," Tristan said. "Gus, do you sense anything?"

Gus, the hunter in the team with the ability to detect enemies from afar, stuttered, shaking to his knees. "I-I . . . I don’t feel anything . . . T-this boss . . . is different."
