Chapter 344: Yokai Haven: Yamamura Village

Yamamura Village, the Yokai haven dominated by all kinds of Kitsunes, sprawled vast and majestic beneath the cliff where Xin and the others found themselves.

It was a breathtaking sight, a harmonious blend of nature and Yokai architecture that created a surreal and magical atmosphere.

The village, nestled in the crevasse of a large mass of land beneath the towering cliff, was a bustling hub of activity.

From their vantage point on the cliff’s edge, Xin and his companions marveled at the sprawling landscape below.

Fields stretched out in carefully cultivated patterns, adorned with vibrant crops and exotic plant life. Markets buzzed with energy as Yokai vendors peddled their wares, and plazas were filled with Yokai going about their daily lives.

The town hall stood proudly in the center of the village, a grand structure adorned with intricate carvings and symbols depicting Yokai folklore.

Houses lined the streets, each with its unique design, reflecting the diversity of the Yokai inhabitants.

The architecture resembled that of ancient Japanese structures, with curved roofs, sliding doors, and wooden elements that blended seamlessly with the natural surroundings.

Surrounded by a lush forest, Yamamura Village was cocooned in a canopy of greenery. Trees of various shapes and sizes encircled the village, providing a natural barrier and adding an extra layer of enchantment to the already mystical setting.

The forest served as a protective embrace, shielding the Yokai community from prying eyes and maintaining the secrecy of their existence.

Water, like a cascade of liquid silk, flowed gracefully down the village. Streams and waterfalls crisscrossed the landscape, creating a serene and mesmerizing ambiance.

The Yokai had ingeniously incorporated water into their village’s design, not only for aesthetic purposes but also for irrigation, ensuring the prosperity of their crops.

As Xin and the others observed, they couldn’t help but notice the incredible diversity of Yokai creatures inhabiting Yamamura Village.

Kitsunes of various sizes and colors moved gracefully through the streets, their multiple tails swaying with an ethereal grace.

Some Yokai had features reminiscent of animals, like a talking turtle that ambled along on its hind legs and a fish standing upright.

The vibrancy of the village extended beyond its inhabitants. Inanimate objects, seemingly imbued with life, dotted the landscape.

Animated lanterns floated gracefully through the air, illuminating the village with an otherworldly glow.

A stone statue in the plaza shifted and changed its expression, capturing the attention of passersby.

The magic of Yamamura Village was not confined to the living; even the inanimate danced with a supernatural energy.

The air was filled with a medley of sounds –– the rustling of leaves, the babbling of water, and the melodic chatter of Yokai going about their business. The atmosphere hummed with a sense of community and belonging.

As Xin and his companions continued to watch, they couldn’t help but feel captivated by the enchanting aura that permeated every corner of Yamamura Village.

It was a place where tradition and fantasy intertwined, where ancient Yokai legends came to life.

The Yokai’s deep connection with nature and their ability to coexist with the elements painted a picture of a society that had thrived for centuries, hidden away from the human world.

In that moment, as Xin and the others stood on the cliff overlooking Yamamura Village, they felt like mere spectators in a realm beyond their understanding. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

The Yokai, with their diverse forms and magical presence, went about their lives in a way that transcended the ordinary.

The village was not just a physical place; it was a living testament to the rich Yokai culture, a testament that Xin and his companions were privileged to witness.

"Whoa! It’s really a Yokai village!" Sylvan’s eyes glowed with excitement. If he had a tail, it would be wagging right now. "A Yokai! A real Yokai village!"

"Yes. Yes. A Yokai village," Victor said, unbothered.

"Should we enter?" Seraphim offered.

"Halt! Who are you?! This is Yamamura, the village of Yokai. Humans and other creatures are not welcome here!" said the guards stationed near the entrance of the place.

The entrance was flanked by two large stones with engravings on each side of a giant Torii Gate.

Sylvan’s eyes sparkled even more. "Kitsunes! And they have four tails and colored black! They even wear armors!"

"Yes. Yes. We can see that," Victor commented. "And why are you so excited? Are you a child?"

Sylvan’s demeanor changed, and his face turned serious as he faced Grey Smoke. "How rude. I’m fourteen years old, you know. I’m no longer a kid!"

Victor and Hilda exchanged a glance before their mouths fell wide open.

"So you’re really still a kid!" they said, surprised.

While Xin was unperturbed because he already thought that Sylvan might be a kid. Though his avatar was that of a man, he was really a kid inside and it showed sometimes.

"So what are we going to do, kid-san?" Seraphim asked and pointed at the guards. "Even if we reach this village, looks like we’re not welcome inside."

The two guards had their spears pointed at them, wariness in their eyes, and seemed like they were prepared to attack at the drop of a hat.

Victor took a deep breath. "If we can’t enter, then we can’t capture the Golden Tail Kitsune at this rate."

"Huh?" Sylvan’s lower lip puckered out as he glared at Grey Smoke. "What do you mean, capture?"

Xin and the others were surprised, and Victor continued, "Isn’t the whole point of hiring us is to search for the Golden Tail Kitsune to capture it so you can have it as a pet?"

"HAA?!" Sylvan’s mouth fell wide open.

The others were surprised as well from his reaction.

"Is that not the whole point of this?" Seraphim asked.

"Of course not!" Sylvan denied.

Grey Smoke was confused. "Then why are we searching for this Kitsune in the first place?"

"Obviously because I just want to see a Kitsune. Don’t you know that they’re one of the strongest and staple subtypes of Yokais?! Especially their leader! The nine-tailed Kitsune, Satomi! Ohhh . . . I really want to see her!"

As he explained, Sylvan’s eyes sparkled like stars, and the others exchanged a knowing look.

Could it be . . . Sylvan is a huge Yokai fan?

Victor released a breath. "What a kid."
