Chapter 345: Entering Yamamura Village

"So, what are we going to do?" Seraphim asked. "Are we just going to turn back after finding this village?"

Victor stepped forward, his face serious. "I don’t want to go back empty-handed after we reach this far. Those two seemed defeatable. If we work together, we can defeat them and enter the village. Problem solve."

Xin found it peculiar that the guards of Yamamura Village had relatively low levels. Even though their levels were at least in the 100+ range, it struck him as unusually low for the first line of defense of such an important village.

This observation raised the possibility that there might be an option to defeat them and force their entry . . . or alternatively, pursue a peaceful resolution, as Ginko had informed them during his extensive explanation.

The second option seemed more ideal, so perhaps Xin could find a way to work things out with the guards using his cheat.

The two guards heard Grey Smoke’s threat and growled a warning, their sharp teeth showing as they raised their weapons.

Sylvan immediately intercepted and went between the Kitsunes and his team. "Wait. What are you even saying about hurting the Yokais? You will do no such thing!"

"Which side are you on? And you’re supposed to be the leader?" Hilda said with a frown.

"I don’t care what you do, just don’t hurt them! I won’t allow it!" Sylvan said, extending his arms in a protective stance against the others.

Hilda wanted to whack his head, but Xin stopped her and stepped forward.

"What are you going to do?" Sylvan warned, eyeing Xin warily as Lord Scrooge approached.

"If violence is out of the option–"

"Violence is definitely out of the option!" Sylvan interjected.

"Then we will just have to use a diplomatic approach," finished Xin.

Sylvan slowly relaxed his stance. "Oh, is that so?"

Sylvan moved to the side as Xin went to the two guards with his hand up in a conciliatory gesture.

"Stay back! That is as far as you go!" the guard warned, but when Xin spoke, they lowered their weapons almost in an instant.

"We don’t mean any harm. We just want peace and to see the town," Xin said.

Victor and the others observed from the side, thinking that such a brief explanation, like they were merely tourists about to sightsee in town, definitely wouldn’t work.

But when the guards lowered their weapons and smiled at Lord Scrooge, their mouths dropped.

"Is that so?" one of the guards said, his smile widening.

"But we don’t have that kind of authority to grant you permission to wonder around the village," the other said.

"So what should we do?" Xin asked them.

The guards exchanged glances, considering Lord Scrooge’s words. Their initial hostility wane as they pondered the situation.

"You could seek an audience with the village leader," the first guard suggested.

"Yes, our leader, Satomi makes decisions regarding visitors," the second guard added.

Xin nodded. "Could you guide us to your leader then? We would like to discuss our peaceful intentions with the village and, if possible, seek permission to explore."

The guards looked at each other before nodding. "Very well, we will escort you to Lady Satomi. Follow us, but remember, any sign of aggression, and we won’t hesitate to defend our village."

Victor was too surprised to even speak that they could now enter the village just like that.

Seraphim was baffled. This was the second time that an NPC changed their attitude when Lord Scrooge talked to them, and she rubbed her chin in deep contemplation.

Hilda yawned and was bored, thinking of when they would enter the village.

While Sylvan’s eyes almost went out of their sockets. "Egh?! Really? You’d do that? Does that mean we get to see Lady Satomi, the legendary nine-tailed Kitsune?!"

The guard nodded. "However, you have to wear these ability-restraining cuffs as we lead you inside."

"Egh?!" Victor wasn’t comfortable with the idea.

"Its protocol," the guard said while crossing his arms, his demeanor harsher to the others than Lord Scrooge.

"It’s fine." Sylvan readily extended his hands. "Go on and cuff us, stake us, imprison us! As long as I could see the nine-tailed fox! She must be really cool, powerful, and beautiful just like in the books!"

"Simp," Victor muttered. "You’re still young, but you’re already simping like an old man! Where has your previous strictness gone to? It’s like you’re a completely different person altogether!"

"Shut up, you!" Sylvan said and then extended his hands. "You guys surrender as well if you want to be paid."

Grey Smoke sighed and muttered at the side, "And you’re willing to pay us thousands of dollars just to see a Yokai?"

Sylvan stuck out his tongue. "Guys like you with no passion for something wouldn’t understand."

Victor only rolled his eyes at him.

Eventually the guards led the group inside the village. Each member now adorned with the magical cuffs, and the atmosphere shifted from the serene beauty of the cliff’s edge to the lively heart of Yamamura Village.

The architecture that had looked stunning from afar now revealed its intricate details and vibrant colors.

The buildings, with their curved roofs and wooden elements, stood adorned with symbols and carvings that told tales of Yokai folklore.

Lanterns hung gracefully, illuminating the pathways with a soft, otherworldly glow. Animated statues lined the streets, changing expressions as the group walked by, showcasing the enchantment that permeated every corner.

The village was a scene of colors and sounds.

Yokai of various shapes and sizes moved gracefully through the streets, their multiple tails swaying in a dance.

The group couldn’t help but be amazed at the bustling markets, filled with Yokai vendors peddling their wares.

Exotic plants and vibrant crops adorned carefully cultivated fields, creating a visual feast.

Streams of water, guided by the village’s clever design, flowed gently, providing a soothing soundtrack to the lively ambiance.

However, as the group passed through, they noticed a change in the atmosphere. The Yokai inhabitants, initially engrossed in their activities, now eyed the newcomers warily. Conversations hushed, and Yokai paused in their tasks, turning to gossip and exchange curious glances about the unexpected guests.
