Chapter 356: Facing a World Boss

As Xin weighed the potential consequences of their actions and deliberated the best course forward, a thunderous voice reverberated through the air, cutting through the chaos like a blade.

"Who dares to intrude upon this sanctuary and spill the blood of my kin?" The voice was filled with fury, and echoed across the battleground. "You selfish humanoids! You shall answer for your heinous crimes!"

Out of the serene sky, Satomi materialized, her figure bathed in the ethereal glow. Her presence was otherworldly, her form radiating an aura of power that rippled through the very air.

Her long, flowing hair, as white as freshly fallen snow, billowed behind her in the wind, dancing like tendrils of silk. Her piercing blue eyes, aglow with an eerie luminescence, seemed to pierce through their souls, their intensity commanding attention and respect.

As Satomi’s voice thundered across the battlefield, it echoed like the wrath of an ancient deity, striking fear into the hearts of those who dared to oppose her.

Her words were laden with authority and righteous indignation, a stern warning to those who had encroached upon her territory and spilled the blood of her people.

Nightshade, initially stunned by the sudden appearance of the nine tailed kitsune, felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through his veins as realization dawned upon him.

This was no ordinary foe; this was a world boss, a formidable entity of unparalleled strength and power.

"It’s a WORLD BOSS!" someone cried out, the words echoing through the chaos like a clarion call to arms.

"It’s a NINETAILED KITSUNE!" another voice exclaimed, the sheer magnitude of the revelation sending shivers down the spines of all who heard it.

Nightshade broke free from his trance-like state, and sprang into action, his mind racing as he sought to assess the situation.

With practiced efficiency, he activated his [Monocle], a magical tool that granted him insight into the stats and attributes of his enemies.

As the information flooded his vision, a pall of dread descended upon him, his complexion draining of color as he beheld the staggering might of the Nine-Tailed Kitsune.

The creature’s stats were beyond comprehension, its power far surpassing anything Nightshade had ever encountered.

Even with their numbers, he knew in his heart that they were no match for the might of the Nine-Tailed.

Yet, despite the overwhelming odds stacked against them, Nightshade couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement coursing through his veins.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, a chance to face off against a World Boss! If they could defeat this, then the rewards would be insurmountable!

"Contact HQ!" Nightshade barked, his voice ringing out with authority amidst the chaos. "Inform them that we have encountered a world boss! A world boss! Send backup immediately!"

As his words echoed across the battlefield, Nightshade felt a sense of exhilaration wash over him. This was the moment they had been waiting for, an encounter with a World Boss!

"Lady Satomi!" Sylvan’s voice rang out with genuine concern as he dashed into the fray, heedless of the danger that lurked ahead.

In that moment, he embodied the archetype of a hero rushing to rescue the damsel in distress. The only twist in this tale was that he himself was the damsel in distress.

"It appears Satomi has joined the battle," Victor remarked, his tone laced with a mix of relief and apprehension. "With her presence, this skirmish may soon come to an end."

"I wouldn’t be so sure," Seraphim interjected with a small smile. "They’re bound to send reinforcements soon enough."

"Regardless," Victor replied, his gaze scanning the chaos unfolding before them. "That’s no longer our concern. We must extricate ourselves from this conflict before we become entangled in its consequences."

As Victor prepared to make his exit, he noticed Xin standing firm, unmoved from his position amidst the chaos.

"Lord Scrooge," Victor called out, his voice tinged with urgency. "We need to leave. Now."

But Xin remained rooted to the spot, his gaze fixed on the events before him. It was as if he was contemplating something deeper, something that transcended the immediate danger they faced.

Victor’s brow furrowed in frustration. They couldn’t afford to linger any longer in this battleground, not when they could be in danger from Satomi’s attacks.

One hit from that Yokai and it was goodbye for them.

"Lord Scrooge, we don’t have time for this," Victor urged, his tone more insistent now. "We need to go."

"We will help the Yokais," Xin said.

Perhaps the reason he hadn’t MAX out his relationship level with Satomi was because of this very moment. Perhaps he needed to save Yamamura Village first, before delving deeper into their bond.

Only one way to find out. Xin mused.

"Are you serious?" Victor asked incredulously, his disbelief evident in his tone.

Xin nodded resolutely. "Yes. Grey Smoke, you should go. You’re widely known in the game, so you might risk tainting your identity by making an enemy out of Doombringers. But since I’ve hidden my identity, they wouldn’t have anything against me."

Victor hesitated for a moment, weighing the risks and implications of Xin’s words.

"You too, Seraphim," Xin continued, addressing her directly. "Both of you could go. I’ll stay behind and help the Yokais."

Seraphim remained silent. No one knew what she was thinking.

Before Victor could fully process Xin’s words, he and Hilda had already joined Sylvan in the battle against Doombringers.

With a resigned sigh, Victor made a split-second decision. Gripping his dual blades tightly, he decided to follow suit, joining Xin and Hilda in the fray.

It wasn’t that he was afraid of Doombringers, but rather that he felt compelled to stand alongside side Xin in his time of need.

Meanwhile, Seraphim disappeared into the shadows, swiftly and silently dispatching scattered members of Doombringers with deadly precision.

Satomi’s keen observation didn’t escape notice, and she acknowledged their assistance with gratitude.

"Thank you for your help, adventurers," she spoke, her voice carrying a weight of authority and gratitude. "The truth is, I’ve refrained from unleashing my full powers out of fear of inadvertently causing harm to the village. But now that you’re here, I can entrust these transgressors into your capable hands, while I provide support in the back."

"So he’s not going to fight?" Victor lamented.

Part of their resolve to confront Doombringers stemmed from the belief that Satomi would swiftly deal with them.

However, it seemed they couldn’t rely solely on her, and now they had to face Doombringers themselves.
