MMORPG: I was BUGGED-Chapter 358: Victory and Gratitude
Oblivious to Sylvanโs presence, Nightshade remained fixated on his targets, his focus on them despite the chaos surrounding him.
The sudden cry of "Vice Leader!" echoed through the ranks of the Doombringers, a note of urgency underscoring the frantic warning. ๐๐ป๐๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐ค๐ซ๐ฎ๐.๐ฌ๐๐ข
But it was too late, Sylvanโs arrows found their mark with unerring precision, piercing through the chaos to strike Nightshadeโs body with deadly accuracy.
The impact sent shockwaves of pain coursing through Nightshadeโs form, shattering his focus and halting his advance.
As the realization of defeat dawned upon him, Nightshade staggered, his once indomitable spirit faltering in the face of Lord Scrooge and his group.
His grip on consciousness slipped, darkness encroaching upon his vision as he stumbled backward, his body wracked with agony.
In that moment of vulnerability, the full weight of Sylvanโs retribution bore down upon him. With each arrow that found its mark, Nightshadeโs strength waned, his presence reduced to naught but a fading particles upon the battlefield.
"Y-you!" Nightshade gritted his teeth, his eyes narrowing at Lord Scrooge, Sylvan, and the others. "I will remember this! You have made an enemy of Doombringers! You will not escape the wrath of Doombringers in the future! You will be hunted for the rest of your miserable life! Remember that!"
As Nightshade faded away, only spiteful words left his mouth, promising revenge for the humiliation he had faced today.
"Well . . . so much for being composed," Victor muttered with a laugh. "Is that how a vice leader should act upon defeat?"
"Maybe he isnโt used to defeat," Xin muttered.
"How unsightly," Hilda spat. "Whatever it is, you must face defeat with dignity and pride. Thatโs the path of a true warrior!"
Seraphim chuckled. "Looks like weโve won the battle today." She then glanced over at the remaining members of Doombringers, her smile menacing. "Or do you still wish to continue the fight and face complete annihilation?"
In a moment of realization, the remaining members of Doombringers recognized that the battle was over. With Nightshade gone and half their members turned to particles, with the opposing side still having the Nine-Tailed Kitsune and those accursed mannequins and golems, this battle was lost.
Doombringers hastily sounded the retreat.
"Retreat! Retreat!" the command echoed through the battlefield, a desperate plea for survival amidst the looming danger.
Panic gripped the ranks of the Doombringers as they scrambled to disengage from the fray and regroup for another assault.
"Should we pursue them?" Hilda asked, cracking her knuckles. "Just give the word, and Iโd personally chase after them even to hell."
"No. Let them go," Xin said. "Thereโs no use in wasting our mana on them."
"I see," Hilda nodded in understanding. "Thereโs no honor in chasing surrendered enemies after all."
"They didnโt surrender though," Victor chimed in.
As the echoes of battle faded into the distance, a somber silence descended upon the village, broken only by the distant cries of the retreating Doombringers and the cheers of the Yokais.
In that fleeting moment of respite, victory belonged to those who had the power to claim it.
Amidst the chaos and carnage, Sylvan stood tall, his bow raised triumphantly as he surveyed the aftermath of the war with Doombringers.
He took a deep breath and locked eyes with Lord Scrooge and the others. "Iโve got it under control."
"Of course you do," Seraphim remarked sarcastically.
"Iโm convinced this guy doesnโt know how to say thank you," Victor chimed in.
As the echoes of battle faded into the distance, a hush fell over the battlefield, punctuated only by the soft rustle of leaves and the gentle sigh of the wind.
The once chaotic scene now lay in stillness, the clash of swords and the roar of spells replaced by an eerie calm.
Slowly, cautiously, the Yokai emerged from their hiding spots, their forms shifting from the shadows into the dim light of the clearing.
They moved with a sense of trepidation, their eyes wary but hopeful as they surveyed the aftermath of the conflict.
Together, they began to tend to the wounded, to rebuild what had been broken in the tumult of battle.
Satomi, the Nine-Tailed Kitsune, stepped forward, her tails swaying gently behind her as she transformed back into her humanoid form.
Her golden eyes glimmered with gratitude as she approached Lord Scrooge and the others, her expression a mixture of relief and appreciation.
"Thank you," she said softly to Lord Scrooge, her voice carrying a weight of sincerity. "For helping us, for standing by our side in our time of need. You were a great help."
Her words hung in the air, a quiet acknowledgment of the bond forged in battle, of the alliance formed amidst chaos. Around her, the other Yokai nodded in agreement, their gazes filled with respect for their newfound allies.
Xin felt unsure of what to do, considering that it was truly Sylvan who had been instrumental in their assistance from the start.
However, it seemed that Satomi was only directing her thanks towards him.
Of course, after the ordeal, his Relationship Level with Satomi increased to MAX. He was right about helping her to max out his RL with her.
Perhaps that was why Satomi was expressing her gratitude towards him, even though it was truly Sylvan who had stood by them through thick and thin.
Seeing Sylvanโs joyous fidgeting and inability to form coherent words, Xin felt reassured that everything was fine and there was no need to dwell on the details any longer.
"Please accept these rewards as a token of our appreciation," Satomi said and gave a special item just for Lord Scrooge while giving chests for the rests.
Of course, this special item remained a secret known only to Lord Scrooge and Satomi.
Just as Evangeline had her gift of summoning in times of danger, Satomi presented Xin with a bell that granted him the ability to summon her for a limited time anywhere in the world.
He then turned to Satomi, laughing wryly. "Thank you. We truly appreciate it."
