MMORPG: I was BUGGED-Chapter 368: Tender Meat and Tender Hearts
Victor, ever the gracious host, led Xin, Xiaxia, and Seraphina to an exclusive Wagyu grilling restaurant tucked away in a chic corner of the city.
The ambiance was luxurious, with dim lighting casting a warm glow over the polished wooden tables and plush leather seating. The aroma of sizzling meat tantalized the senses as they were escorted to their table, where a sleek grill awaited their palate.
Xiaxia was amazed. "I bet it’s expensive here," she remarked, her eyes scanning the elegant surroundings. "You shouldn’t have brought us here, Victor."
"Xiaxia’s right," Xin chimed in, his tone didn’t give anything away. "She might just end up causing a mess. It’s better if we grab some street food instead."
"Hey!" Xiaxia retorted, a hint of annoyance in her voice.
She had half a mind to swat Xin’s head, but she quickly restrained herself. She didn’t want Victor to think she was aggressive or unladylike by hitting her brother, even though that was the truth.
Victor chuckled heartily. "It’s no problem at all. My sister has generously compensated me enough for the trouble this morning, so we can indulge in Wagyu for an entire week. Speaking of which . . ."
With a mischievous grin, Victor reached into his pocket and pulled out an envelope, placing it in Xiaxia’s hands. It was a substantial envelope, thick with its contents, causing Xiaxia to gasp audibly as her eyes widened with excitement.
"Could this be?!" Xiaxia’s smile stretched across her face, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Victor nodded with a grin. "That’s right. Your fee for today."
Eagerly, Xiaxia checked the envelope’s contents, her excitement mounting as she counted the bills. It was a substantial amount, a few thousand dollars that left her mind racing with possibilities.
It was the first time she had received such a generous payment. Not even in Guildbane did she received a lot of money.
In truth, Xiaxia’s reaction was partly due to the fact that any money she earned with Guildbane was promptly reinvested into her guild to foster its growth and secure future earnings.
She viewed each penny as an opportunity to enhance her guild’s standing and profitability, making the generous payment from Victor all the more significant and unexpected.
"I can’t believe it! Thank you so much!" Xiaxia exclaimed, her gratitude evident in her voice. "But this is too much!"
Victor chuckled playfully, teasing her, "If you think that’s too much, you can always give me the excess."
Xiaxia quickly tucked the money securely into her pocket and laughed nervously. "Ahahaha, I’m only kidding. Thank you for the money."
Victor’s laughter filled the air, and Xiaxia couldn’t help but admire him. She noticed the small dimple that appeared when he laughed, the way his sharp jawline trembled, and how his Adam’s apple bobbed up and down.
It made her swallow hard.
Unbeknownst to her, Xiaxia’s adoration was too obvious, evident in her gooey eyes, the saliva threatening to drip from her mouth, and the pink hearts fluttering around her.
It was as if at any moment, her eyes would popped out and fixed solely on Victor.
As they settled in, Victor engaged Xin in a lively conversation, discussing everything from school to Guildbane.
Meanwhile, Xin couldn’t help but notice Xiaxia’s subtle blush whenever Victor directed his attention her way.
Her eyes sparkled with a mixture of admiration and something else, something Xin was quite familiar with.
Similarly, Seraphina caught Xiaxia stealing glances at Victor when she thought no one was looking. It was a gesture all too familiar to Seraphina, one that spoke volumes despite its subtlety.
She exchanged a knowing glance with Xin, silently acknowledging what was going on with Xiaxia.
As the conversation ebbed and flowed, Seraphina seized an opportune moment when Xiaxia and she excused themselves to visit the restroom.
Once they were alone, Seraphina turned to Xiaxia with a gentle smile, her eyes glinting with a plan amidst her considerate font. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"You like Victor, don’t you?" Seraphina’s inquiry floated softly through the air, her tone imbued with a casual nonchalance.
Xiaxia nearly jumped out of her skin at the suddenness of Seraphina’s question. "W-what?!"
"It’s rather obvious," Seraphina chuckled lightly as she adjusted the makeup on her face.
"O-obvious . . . ?" Xiaxia’s lips twisted to the side nervously. "I-I don’t . . . I don’t know . . ."
It took Xiaxia a moment to realize that she couldn’t possibly deceive Seraphina, especially not when she was being scrutinized so intently like a criminal under interrogation.
"Am I that obvious?" Xiaxia asked shyly after a moment.
"You’re making it obvious," Seraphina replied with a slight laughed.
"In my defense, Victor is . . . kind of hot," Xiaxia admitted, her cheeks flushing slightly. "He’s charming, considerate, kind, handsome, tall, lean, rich, basically every woman’s dream. There’s hardly anyone who wouldn’t fall for him."
Seraphina simply regarded her with a blank look, prompting Xiaxia to sigh wryly. "Yeah, except maybe you, because apparently you like . . ."
Xiaxia trailed off, her thoughts wandering.
Come to think of it . . . what did Seraphina Fey look for in a man?
Suddenly, her brother’s face flashed in her mind, and Xiaxia couldn’t help but shiver and shake her head.
No! No! No! That couldn’t be it!
Seraphina Fey would never be interested in someone like her brother! She was on a pedestal far beyond the reach for someone like Xin, and yet . . .
Xiaxia locked eyes with Seraphina, her mind racing.
Back there, she had referred to her as ’sister-in-law.’ They were out of school, and yet Seraphina was still pretending that she and Xin were dating.
There was no logical reason for that unless . . .
"You . . ." Xiaxia chuckled nervously at herself. "There’s no way your type is my brother, right?"
Seraphina simply smiled and crossed her arms. "We’re not talking about my preferences here. If you want Victor to like you, I have a plan."
With that, Xiaxia’s mind whirled, forgetting all about Seraphina and Xin.
In that moment, she was just a simple girl with a simple goal: to nurture her relationship with Victor.
