Chapter 371: Dual Reflections: A Twist of Fate

As Xin scrolled through the chat, he discovered that it was only for the upcoming reunion scheduled for December.

It was a mere month away, following closely on the heels of the fast upcoming auction and the onset of the holiday season.

The excitement among his high school buddies was palpable, evident in the flurry of messages exchanged.

Yet, amidst the anticipation, Xin found himself grappling with conflicting emotions as he considered attending.

On one hand, he longed to reconnect with old friends and catch up on lost time. On the other hand, the prospect of facing Meilyn loomed like a shadow over his decision.

Surely, his presence would spark discussions, and he wasn’t prepared to confront the memories associated with Meilyn just yet.

Though he had made strides in accepting the past and moving forward, the wounds remained tender, particularly when her name resurfaced in his thoughts.

Caught in the midst of his internal deliberations, Xin was interrupted by Seraphina’s inquiry.

"What is it?" she asked, her voice laced with curiosity as she glanced over at him.

Xin hesitated for a moment, then finally decided to share, "My classmates in high school are hosting a reunion this holiday."

"Are you going?"

"I’m not sure," Xin admitted, uncertainty evident in his tone.

"You should."

Xin whipped his head towards her, but he couldn’t seem to form a coherent sentence in response.

Seraphina continued, her expression thoughtful, "You know, reunions are more than just gatherings. They’re opportunities to catch up with everybody, to reconnect with old friends. It’s also a form of making peace with the past," she added knowingly. "If you can’t move on . . . then maybe confronting your past is the way to set yourself free."

With a warm smile, she concluded, "Just saying," before gracefully retreating back to her room.

Xin couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to Seraphina’s words than met the eye. She sounded as though she knew something about him and Meilyn. Perhaps she did know.

Well, maybe she did.

It wasn’t a secret after all.

Xin decided to leave it be for now. The reunion was still a month away, so he would have plenty of time to mull it over.

Meanwhile, Xiaxia was getting giddy at the prospect of meeting Victor at a restaurant. She had forgotten how many times she stumbled because her head was in the clouds, filled with thoughts about him.

Xiaxia’s mind raced with the possibility that Victor might be interested in her, perhaps even contemplating proposing.

The mere thought sent shivers down her spine, and she found herself lost in a whirlwind of romantic fantasies.

She knew without a doubt that if Victor were to pop the question, she wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to say yes. A man like Victor was a rare find, and Xiaxia wasn’t about to let him slip through her fingers.

Despite her usual indifference towards boys, Xiaxia couldn’t deny the distinct allure that Victor held over her.

There was something about him that stirred feelings deep within her, feelings she hadn’t experienced before. It baffled her, but she couldn’t deny the undeniable pull she felt towards him.

With butterflies fluttering in her stomach, Xiaxia meticulously ensured that she looked her absolute best as she passed by the mirror in a nearby shop.

Every strand of hair was perfectly in place, her outfit carefully chosen to exude elegance and charm. Satisfied with her appearance, she took a deep breath and entered the restaurant where Victor had suggested they meet.

As she stepped inside, her eyes immediately sought out Victor’s figure.

And there he was, sitting at a table, looking effortlessly stylish in a simple white turtleneck shirt and black pants.

Xiaxia couldn’t help but sigh dreamily at the sight of him.

Even in such ordinary attire, Victor exuded an air of sophistication and confidence that captivated her completely.

Just seeing him sitting there filled her with a sense of longing and anticipation for what the date held in store.

Xiaxia took a deep breath, steeling herself before approaching Victor and taking a seat in front of him with a friendly greeting. "Hi, Victor. I’m sorry I’m late. Did you wait long?"

"No, you’re not late. I’m just early . . . ," Victor replied automatically before he trailed off as his gaze fixed on Xiaxia’s face.

But as Xiaxia met his gaze with a warm smile, Victor found himself momentarily speechless. He couldn’t help but notice how, with a simple change in hairstyle, Xiaxia bore a striking resemblance to Xin.

While they were indeed twins, Victor had grown accustomed to seeing Xiaxia with her usual vibrant appearance.

However, Xiaxia had deliberately altered her appearance in the past to avoid resembling Xin too closely, which had led Victor to overlook their twin connection.

So, when confronted with Xiaxia’s transformed look, it took him by surprise, momentarily clouding his perception and causing him to question what he was seeing.

In front of him sat Xiaxia, yet for a fleeting moment, he saw glimpses of Xin’s features reflected in her expression.

"Are you okay?" Xiaxia’s voice broke through Victor’s reverie, her words bringing him back to the present moment.

Victor blinked, trying to shake off the disorienting sensation. "Y-you . . . you look like Xin," he finally managed to utter, his voice choked with emotion.

Xiaxia rolled her eyes playfully, a light laugh escaping her lips as she adjusted her white hair. "Yeah, I get that a lot. That’s why I opted to change my hair because people often mistake us if I just put on a loose shirt and pants."

Victor blinked numerous times, but Xiaxia remained unchanged before him. He quickly reached for a glass of water, the dryness in his throat becoming almost unbearable.

What was happening?

Why was his heart racing so fast, and why did he suddenly feel dizzy?

For a moment, an awkward silence hung between them, neither knowing quite what to say or do. Both were caught in a whirlwind of confusion and misunderstanding.
