Chapter 373: Unexpected Encounters in the Supermarket

Despite his initial reluctance, Xin found himself intrigued by the array of offerings before him. He couldn’t deny the allure of indulging in a taste of luxury, even if it came with a hefty price tag.

As they perused the aisles, Seraphina seemed to be in her element, her eyes lighting up with excitement as she examined the various products on display.

Though Xin wasn’t particularly fond of shopping, he couldn’t deny the pleasure of spending time with her, even if it meant indulging her penchant for luxury goods.

With each passing moment, Xin found himself growing more curious about Seraphina, the intricacies of her life that he had yet to uncover.

Perhaps this impromptu shopping trip would offer him a glimpse into her world, allowing him to understand her better.

He couldn’t quite pinpoint where this undeniable urge suddenly came from, this need to know her.

Perhaps it was because he was aware their art session would soon end. He found himself in the final touches of his painting, realizing he no longer needed her as a model.

Yet, for some inexplicable reason, he didn’t mind her sticking around.

Xin wandered through the aisles of the supermarket while Seraphina ventured off to gather her own groceries, pushing a large cart while he only had a basket. He couldn’t help but wonder what she could possibly need with such a sizable cart, knowing she lived alone.

As he perused the ice cream section in search of Xiaxia’s favorite flavor, Xin stopped at the macadamia nuts vanilla flavored ice cream she adored.

He reached for the brand she preferred when suddenly, another hand reached out for the same one he was grabbing.

Xin looked beside him in surprise, finding Meilyn there, equally startled.

It seemed almost absurd that they would cross paths in this particular supermarket out of countless others. What were the odds of such an encounter? It felt almost scripted, like something out of a novel.

"Xin?" Meilyn’s voice broke the silence, her surprise evident. "What are you doing here?"

For a moment, Xin was taken aback before he swiftly grabbed the ice cream and replied, "Buying this."

He turned to face her directly, adding with an even tone, "This is a supermarket, after all."

He didn’t want her to suspect that he was following her around. He didn’t want to come across as a desperate ex-boyfriend, a notion he vehemently rejected.

He simply wasn’t ready to confront her yet.

Meilyn blinked, her embarrassment palpable as she chuckled nervously. "R-right . . . this is the supermarket, so you can be here too." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

It was evident from the awkward tension between them that neither of them was quite ready to confront each other just yet.

Xin sensed this unspoken sentiment, even if Meilyn didn’t verbalize it.

Just as he was about to bid farewell and retreat to another aisle, a voice from behind interrupted them.

"Meilyn, have you found your ice cream yet? We’re late for the movies."

Xin and Meilyn turned to see Alexander, Meilyn’s current boyfriend, approaching rapidly, his expression stern as he focused his gaze on Xin.

"Hey, aren’t you Meilyn’s ex? What are you doing here?" Alexander’s tone was accusatory, his posture tense as he stopped beside Meilyn and placed his arm around her shoulder possessively.

Xin regarded Alexander with an unbothered expression. "This is a supermarket."

His statement was clear, even if he didn’t elaborate further. It was a public place, and he had every right to be there whenever he pleased.

Alexander scoffed, his grip on Meilyn tightening. "I know this is a supermarket, but what are you doing in THIS supermarket? How did you get in?"

"Alex, stop it," Meilyn interjected, her discomfort evident in her voice.

But Alexander ignored her plea and pressed on, his tone becoming more accusatory. "This is a membership-only supermarket. This is a private shop. I know you couldn’t afford the monthly rate and the price tags here, so how did you slip in?"

"It’s because he’s my boyfriend."

All eyes turned to the unexpected voice, and a hush fell over the tense atmosphere.

Standing tall and exuding an air of sophistication, a woman clad in a simple white shirt and fitted black pants stepped forward. Despite her understated attire, her aura screamed of elegance and wealth, commanding attention effortlessly.

"Seraphina . . . ," Xin muttered under his breath, his gaze fixed on the woman who had suddenly appeared. His eyes widened as he noticed her cart, brimming with all manner of food and snacks.

Was she planning to eat all of that herself?

For a moment, Xin forgot about Meilyn and Alexander as he found himself surprised by the full cart.

Alexander was taken aback by the interruption, and turned his attention to the newcomer.

"Who are you?" he demanded, his tone wary.

Meanwhile, Meilyn couldn’t hide her discomfort, her face flushing with emotion as she recognized the woman standing before them.

She knew exactly who she was, and the implications of her unexpected appearance filled her with unease.

Seraphina gracefully removed her sunglasses and face mask, revealing her radiant smile as she addressed Alexander. "Seraphina Fey. We’re schoolmates. Alexander Craig, right?"

Alexander’s eyes widened in surprise, and his demeanor quickly shifted. He flashed his brightest smile. "Lady Seraphina! I didn’t know you were here. If I had known, I would have greeted you."

"Oh, really?" Seraphina replied, her tone indifferent.

"Our companies have worked together before. The Craig Enterprises supplied materials to your construction company," Alexander explained eagerly, hoping to impress Seraphina with his business connections.

She knew his name, so it must meant something right?

Seraphina nodded, acknowledging the information. "Is that so?"

Alexander was clearly excited and ecstatic to have the opportunity to converse with Seraphina. He even forgot about Xin and Meilyn as he engaged in conversation with her, relishing the chance to make a favorable impression.

As Seraphina became the center of attention, others in the vicinity also vied for the opportunity to speak with her.

Only a few were fortunate enough to engage her in conversation, knowing that securing her attention could lead to lucrative business opportunities.
