Chapter 379: The Unyielding Vampire Queen

Evangeline’s aura grew more intense by the second, a fiery red glow emanating from her body. It was as if she were surrounded by a swirling tempest of crimson liquid, each droplet pulsating with a malevolent energy.

With a flick of her wrist, the blood-like substance lashed out at the players like a whip, striking them down with brutal efficiency.

The players, caught off guard by the sudden onslaught, stood little chance against Evangeline’s overwhelming power. Their bodies crumpled to the ground, lifeless and drained of vitality.

Yet, despite their losses, they regrouped quickly, their determination to take down the first ever World Boss couldn’t be extinguished by a few deaths.

"Tank, take the front line! DPS, focus your attacks on her! Give her everything you’ve got!" shouted one of the players, rallying his comrades for the clash.

Spells and abilities rained down upon Evangeline as the players unleashed their full arsenal against her.

Fireballs exploded in brilliant bursts of flame, lightning crackled through the air, and arrows whistled past her in a deadly barrage.

Meanwhile, Xin, observing from a safe distance, teleported away to a secluded spot where he could watch the fight unfold without being implicated.

Though Xin’s concern for Evangeline was palpable, he understood the importance of assessing the situation before leaping into action.

It was clear that his intervention wouldn’t make much of a difference against the onslaught of players, especially since Evangeline seemed to handle herself with ease. She didn’t exhibit any signs of needing assistance at any point during the confrontation.

Thus, he found himself torn between his desire to protect her and the realization that intervening prematurely might only complicate matters further.

As the battle raged on, it became clear that Evangeline was more than capable of handling the players who were after her. Despite the relentless assault, she dispatched them with ease, hardly expending any of her mana in the process.

The players, realizing that their attacks were having little effect, adjusted their strategy, focusing their efforts on depleting Evangeline’s HP instead.

Yet even as they drained their mana reserves to unleash powerful spells, Evangeline simply laughed, her crimson eyes gleaming with amusement.

"Is that all you’ve got?" she taunted, her voice dripping with mockery. "You’ll have to do better than that to defeat me!"

With each player she slew, Evangeline grew stronger, feeding off their blood to replenish her own health. It was a relentless cycle, as she seemed to be impervious to the damage they inflicted upon her.

The players, growing desperate, redoubled their efforts, unleashing their most powerful attacks in a desperate bid to bring Evangeline down.

But no matter how hard they fought, her health bar remained stubbornly high, barely dented by their onslaught.

"It’s no use," muttered one of the players, frustration evident in his voice. "She’s too strong. We can’t beat her."

"We can’t afford to give up now! If we don’t defeat her, someone else will swoop in and take the glory! Let’s not squander all the resources we’ve poured into this fight! We must eliminate her at any cost!"

The players refused to admit defeat. They knew that if they could just whittle down Evangeline’s health enough, they might have a chance of emerging victorious.

Meanwhile, Xin watched from the sidelines, his brow furrowed in concern.

Despite Evangeline’s apparent invincibility, he couldn’t shake the feeling that she was in danger. He knew that if things took a turn for the worse, he would have to intervene to protect her.

But for now, he could only watch and wait, hoping that Evangeline’s extraordinary abilities would be enough to see her through the battle unscathed.

With each passing moment, he knew that it would take nothing short of a miracle for her health to be reduced by even half at the rate things were going.

Still, he couldn’t shake off the worry that gnawed at his insides like a persistent itch.

As he surveyed the scene from his vantage point atop the tree, Xin’s heart skipped a beat when he witnessed something that sent a shiver down his spine.

In the distance, he saw an endless sea of players marching across the vast field before the forest. They belonged to various powerful guilds — Doombringers, Brotherhood Legion, Phoenix Rising, Shadowblade, and countless others.

They advanced with purpose, their numbers seemingly endless.

It was a sight that filled Xin with dread, realizing that Evangeline had to escape now.

Teleporting back to her side, Xin witnessed the aftermath of the skirmish with the initial hundred players who had sought her out. They were reduced to nothing but ashes and particles, scattered across the ground, while Evangeline remained in her child form, yawning in boredom.

"I hope these newcomers prove to be more of a challenge than the last bunch," she remarked casually.

"We have to get out of here," Xin urged her.

But Evangeline merely regarded him with her slit eyes. "Escape? I don’t run away from enemies who are after me."

"Things have changed. These enemies number in the thousands and are far stronger than the ones you faced earlier."

Evangeline shrugged indifferently. "Good. I could finally move these old bones again. Being cooped up for hundreds of years in that castle made me rusty. I need some exercise."

Xin stared at her incredulously. "What are you even saying? You’ll die if you face them."

But Evangeline simply rolled her eyes. "Apparently, you’ve underestimated me too much little boy. You haven’t seen my full powers yet."

Xin opened his mouth to reason with her, but she vanished in a blink of an eye, leaving only the echo of her voice resonating through the forest.

"You should go to a safe distance, Lord Scrooge. Things could get ugly here. Hohohohoho!"

As Evangeline’s warning lingered in the air, Xin’s heart sank. He knew that whatever was about to unfold would be nothing short of catastrophic, and he could only hope that Evangeline’s strength would be enough to see her through the impending onslaught.

Who was he kidding?

Xin prepared to summon Hilda and possibly even Elysia and Satomi if the situation spiraled out of control.

He refused to let Evangeline perish. She was one of his aces, an indispensable part of his arsenal in Guildbane, much like Hilda, Elysia, and Satomi.
