Modern World Warlock-Chapter 234: Oskar Heller
At the city of Ventis in Northern Novaria, inside an elegant and modern-looking mansion, Oskar Heller, the leader of the Azure Rebels, was sitting behind his desk with a somber expression.
*Knock, knock* One of Oksar's subordinates entered the office.
"Boss, we received notice that android 1.1 has been destroyed…" the man said.
"Mhmm, thanks…" Oskar replied, prompting his subordinate to leave the room immediately.
Finding himself alone again in his office, Oskar picked up his phone and called his partner, Alexander Spring, who already knew about the fate of the androids.
["I already heard from my servant. The plan should keep going smoothly…"] Alexander said.
"Alex… Is this the right option?" Oskar asked, his voice uncertain and laced with fear.
["I don't know… But I think we should put our trust in them,"] Alex replied.
After the two men spoke in code, Oskar hung up the call and looked up at his ceiling with a conflicted face.
*Sigh* "Valerie… What should I do?" Oskar muttered to himself, reminiscing a few years prior to the current times.
Weeks before the Blood Dragons attacked and killed most of the Jade Dragons, the Azure Rebels were conducting their business as usual when they received a visit from the cartel leaders.
Even though the two mafia groups had utterly different methodologies, it wasn't uncommon for them to do business with each other, so the rebels didn't suspect the cartel of their plans.
The three cartel leaders, along with Noah Summer, met with the Azure Rebels group in the city of Ventis at a five-star restaurant inside a hotel.
Initially, Oskar and Alexander believed that the cartel wanted to buy weapons in bulk, as the leaders didn't travel together often unless it was a big deal. However, they couldn't have been more wrong, as the cartel's intentions were purely malicious.
Alexander didn't notice at first, but after exchanging a few words, he was able to tell that Don Darius and Don Ruben were utterly different people than before, giving the man a foreboding feeling.
"How perceptive of you… No matter, this makes our talks easier," Netherius said in Darius's body.
As Netherius stood up from his chair in the middle of the bustling, expensive restaurant, he raised his palm and covered his sadistic smile behind it.
"Carnage…" The necromancer muttered, generating an eerie, shadowy energy from his hand that left the Azure Rebels' members in shock.
The shadows spread out around the venue, and by the time the other guests panicked in confusion, large spikes made of bones appeared from the ground, impaling and massacring everyone around—except for the Azure Rebels.
The sight was so sudden and beyond belief that Oskar and Alex stayed silent in utter shock and fear, seeing how the corpses of the guests painted the entire restaurant in red, and the bony structures covered the light from the windows, creating a faint darkness.
It took them a few seconds for their minds to process the scene, prompting Alex and Oskar to hastily stand up and pull out their guns, receiving no reaction from the cartel leaders.
"What the hell did you do!?" Alex asked.
"It was a mere spell… A quick demonstration," Netherius replied.
The rebel pair didn't comprehend what he meant, as they were unaware of the existence of magic, making Netherius showcase more of his powers.
As the necromancer's eyes glowed brightly, he opened his mouth and extended his arms, making the dead bodies of the guests around them produce a strange, white mist that flowed into his mouth.
Alex and Oskar watched the mist closely, and they could see the faces of the deceased people mirrored in the fog, their expressions filled with agony.
When the last bit of mist was absorbed by Netherius, he exhaled with satisfaction as if he had just finished a large meal.
Calmly, the necromancer revealed his true identity to the Azure Rebels, giving them a brief explanation of the things he was capable of.

The rebel pair could not have believed his statement without proof, which is why Netherius went to great lengths to show them by killing everyone around them in an instant.
Even though they were scared, the Azure Rebels didn't bend to Netherius' will, calling out their androids to protect them.
Nevertheless, after twenty minutes, Netherius and Wolfram had destroyed the four androids that arrived to protect their masters, leaving the pair hopeless and with no escape from the necromancer.
"That was quite entertaining… These androids—I like them," Netherius commented, holding the head of an android with a cheek tattoo that read "5.2."
Still, Alex and Oskar weren't planning on giving away their androids to the cartel, even if it killed them.
Netherius, knowing that they would decline his offer after showing his magic, decided to use his ace under his sleeve, opening his palm before the pair.
As a dark green aura appeared around his hand, the light gathered on top of it and produced a small crystal-looking orb with shades of black and aquamarine swirling inside the sphere.
With his other hand, Netherius grazed the orb and made a motion as if he were plucking a feather from it, pulling out a reflection of the soul inside.
The Spring handler froze in utter shock after seeing his older sister's face reflected on it, who had her eyes closed in deep slumber.
"Lexia…?" Alexander muttered in disbelief.
"What kind of trick is this!?" he continued, his voice laced with anger.
"Trick?" Netherius mockingly asked, reminding the rebel pair that he was a necromancer, so playing with the souls of the dead was merely second nature to him.
Still, Alexander maintained his stance, stating that the dead didn't have a say in the matters of the living, prompting Don Vincent to take a couple of printed pictures out of his jacket.
When the man dropped the photos on the table, they saw Oskar's wife and child sleeping with a strange mark on their necks.
"With the snap of my fingers, your precious family will burst into hellfire," Netherius commented, slightly smirking at the pair.
