Chapter 478: Chapter 478: I Picked This Gift For You

Stephanie obeyed her mother. She sprayed Victoria and Daisy’s seats with sanitizer and wiped everything carefully.

Watching this made Victoria’s blood pressure spike.

"I’ll arrange for a driver to take you home," Daniel said to the two women.

Victoria had tears on her face. "I don’t care what happens to me, Daniel. But you’re the CEO of the Wilson Group of Companies. You’re a man at the top. Stop letting a woman control you. It’s bad luck. Do you understand?"

"I know this is your family. I have no right to speak, but they’re your wife and daughter. Everything they say and do represents the Wilson Group of Companies. It doesn’t make sense for them to take everything you have like thieves hoarding treasure..." Daisy tried to advise him, pretending it was all for his sake.

Daniel’s expression grew colder. He glanced at Ashton, and his assistant said, "ETA one minute."

"Forget it. I’m already halfway in the grave. What’s the point of arguing with a child? I just feel sorry for you. I don’t want you to suffer." Victoria sighed at him.

She acted like Daniel was trapped in misery with no way out, and as if she herself was being oppressed.

Daniel didn’t look at her. His eyes were fixed on Chantelle, who was motioning for the driver to get out of his seat. The driver obeyed, already guessing what she planned to do.

Daniel hurried to pull the passenger door open, only to realize she had locked the doors.

When the engine started, Stephanie rolled down the window and said to Victoria, "Granny, my mommy didn’t eat or use anything that belongs to him, and she never wanted to. This car belongs to my mommy. You threw trash in her car without her permission. That’s why I helped her clean it up."

"Mommy, drive a little slower. I’m scared." Stephanie suddenly acted like a cute child once she put down her phone.

Chantelle glanced at her, and her anger slightly disappeared. The car slowed down as well.

She couldn’t focus on small, insignificant things right now. She had more important matters to deal with. She needed to protect her children and look into the truth about the lucky charm and the recent accidents.

She also needed to find out what kind of person her mother really was.

Suddenly, her phone rang. Chantelle answered Daniel’s call after she had calmed down. "Don’t worry about the car accident. I will investigate it," he said.

He was telling her not to interfere.

"I want the investigation results tomorrow morning." Chantelle didn’t bother arguing with him. She didn’t think Daniel had any reason to hide anything from her.

They still didn’t know if the recent incidents were real accidents or caused by someone. If someone did it, were they targeting Daniel or Chantelle?

"What happened just now..." Daniel tried to explain, but Chantelle hung up before he could finish.

He turned to look at the crowd gathered around the pothole. He watched their faces but couldn’t find any clues.

"Daniel, I picked this gift for you. Luckily, it’s not broken." Daisy handed him a watch.

Daniel didn’t take it and replied coldly, "No need for that."

Her heart sank at his rejection.

When they were in Carcosa, Daniel had been so nice to her. It made her feel warm and fuzzy. Why was he so distant from her all of a sudden?

It must be that Chantelle bitch! She was humiliating them on purpose to put them in their place.

"Daisy went to several shops to get you this. Take it, or she’ll be sad," Victoria tried to persuade Daniel.

Daniel didn’t yield at all. He didn’t even feel like responding. He just wanted to send them away quickly so he could go to Chantelle and coax her. Otherwise, everything he had done would be wasted.

"I know you care about Chantelle’s feelings. I even prepared a gift for her. Look, this is a couple’s set. I bought it especially for both of you. Who knew Chantelle would misunderstand me so deeply?" Daisy started crying as she spoke.

Daniel felt annoyed by all of it. He even thought that if another accident happened right now, it would make it easier to investigate the truth and also give him some peace.

In the end, Daisy noticed Daniel didn’t even look at her or the gift. She had no choice but to put it away angrily and start crying again, covering her face.

Victoria shot Daisy an encouraging look and asked with a flattering tone, "Just drop us off at a hotel near the Wilson family mansion. We don’t want to bother you and your wife."

Ashton secretly despised Victoria. He thought quietly to himself.

She clearly wanted Daniel to let them stay at the Wilson family mansion, but she was afraid Mr. Wilson wouldn’t agree because of Mrs. Wilson. So she brought it up indirectly.

"You two live in the family mansion," Daniel suddenly suggested.

Ashton couldn’t understand Daniel’s decision and looked at him. Are you serious, Mr. Wilson? You spent so much effort renovating the mansion based on Mrs. Wilson’s preferences. She doesn’t even know about it yet, and you’re letting other women move in first? Aren’t you worried she’ll misunderstand?

On top of that, this Daisy girl was really annoying. She wasn’t even related to the Wilson family, yet she acted like the lady of the house, ordering the Wilson staff around. She was always gentle in front of Mr. Wilson, but once he left, she quickly revealed her real attitude.

After bringing them back to the Wilson mansion, Daniel immediately headed out for the company. Before he could leave, Victoria and Daisy blocked his way.

"Daniel, where are you going? I heard you’ve been unlucky lately and even ran into bloodshed."

"There’s no such thing." Daniel shook his head, not wanting to admit anything related to supernatural powers.

"Actually... before I came back, I took your birthdate to a psychic. He said you’ll die young because your wife brought bad luck to you."

"He can tell my wife brings me bad luck just from my birthdate, huh?" Daniel raised his brows. He would have ignored it if it hadn’t involved Chantelle.

"The psychic said you’ll face a major disaster in your life. You’ll die because of your wife." Victoria pulled out a peace talisman and tried to put it on Daniel.

Daniel kept staring in the direction the cab had gone.

Ashton couldn’t help but secretly give Daniel a thumbs-up in his mind. Mr. Wilson was really smart. He didn’t even have to tell them directly to leave.

Ashton had thought the same. Mr. Wilson had put so much effort into renovating the house. How could he let them stay here?
