Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 1009 - 1005: I Was Tricked into Coming
"Sorry, Director Du, I’m late," Hannah Hargrave’s voice came from behind. Seeing Nicholas Croft, she pretended to be surprised, "Nicholas... why is it you?"
Then she turned back to Director Du, "Director Du, is the blind date you mentioned..."
Before Director Du could speak, Nicholas Croft slightly smiled with helplessness, "I was tricked by Director Du to come here."
"Director Du, really!" Hannah sat down in the empty seat next to Director Du and playfully chided, "I’ve known Nicholas for a long time, there’s no need for you to play matchmaker, see, how awkward!"
Although she said this, Hannah didn’t seem the least bit awkward. It was evident she had dressed up specially today, her long hair tied at the back, wearing a brown floral dress, the latest Chanel style, looking intellectual and graceful, just like her calm demeanor at the moment.
But Nicholas Croft knew in his heart, the two people across from him were putting on an act together. Director Du had already hinted earlier that he was asked to do this.
He smiled politely without saying anything.
Next door, Sophie Foster angrily took a sip of coffee, muttering to herself, "Green tea b**ch!"
If she wasn’t afraid of being ignored by Uncle Croft again, she would definitely rush over and scratch that vile woman’s face, see how she’d lure someone else’s man then.
"Um... Director Croft, just remembered, there’s a meeting at the company I have to get back to. I’ll leave Hannah to you. Since you two are familiar, I don’t need to worry." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
As soon as Hannah sat down, Director Du found an excuse to leave, not waiting for Nicholas Croft to say anything, he was already up, fastening his suit buttons, and striding away.
"Director Du, really!" Hannah glanced at Director Du’s departing figure and shyly chided.
Director Du mentioned on the phone about meeting Hannah to discuss a movie investment, but it turned into a blind date at the café. Although Nicholas Croft realized he was set up, he was polite since they were in the same industry and currently collaborating, so he asked, "Would you like something to drink?"
"Anything’s fine." Hannah casually adjusted her hair by her ears, a bit shy to face Nicholas Croft.
Nicholas Croft raised his eyebrows, took a silent deep breath, then called over the service. After the coffee was delivered, Nicholas Croft got up, "Sorry, I haven’t prepared for tomorrow’s press conference, I need to head back first."
"Oh, is that so? Just as well, I need to go back to the company too, we can go together." Hannah got up without leaving room for refusal, glanced at Nicholas Croft, who did not refuse.
As the two passed by, Sophie Foster picked up the menu to cover her face again, revealing an angry expression only after they walked far away.
Nicholas Croft was already standing at the front area of the café, seemingly paying the bill. He nonchalantly glanced back at her before striding out of the café.
Hannah waited by the door, took the initiative to hold his arm as Nicholas Croft approached, leaving together under Sophie Foster’s angry gaze.
"A pair of bastards!" Sophie Foster slammed the menu on the table in anger, cursing through gritted teeth, "Bad Uncle, that vile woman was holding onto him, and he didn’t even refuse."
Before leaving, she gulped down the remaining coffee, grabbed her shoulder bag, and slung it over her shoulder to the front counter to pay the bill.
"Miss, your total is five hundred eighty!"
Looking at the receipt printed out by the front desk, Sophie Foster’s eyebrows immediately rose. "Are you running a scam here? One cappuccino costs five hundred eighty?"
