Chapter 994: Chapter 990: I’m the One Who Hurt Your Darling Daughter

Since begging wouldn’t change anything, she didn’t want to humiliate herself. She called for a local courier service to send back the bank card Nicholas Croft had given her, and she packed the pajamas she had prepared for him into a plastic bag before throwing them into the trash.

Though it was hard to let go, she couldn’t hold onto an illusion and live in daily sorrow.

She recalled that day when Hannah Hargrave mentioned she would reserve the right to sue. Sophie Foster picked up her phone and dialed a sequence of numbers, and when the call was answered, she said coldly, "It was I who hit your darling daughter. If you want to sue, I’m waiting."

On the other end, Henry Hargrave stared at the phone being hung up, unable to react for a long time.

"Mr. Hargrave, about that day’s incident, I sincerely apologize. It truly was my fault for not managing my woman properly, leading her to mistake Miss Hargrave as a rival in love. That’s why she accidentally injured Miss Hargrave. Here, I apologize to you and Miss Hargrave on behalf of my woman."

Nicholas Croft apologized sincerely once again. Knowing the girl who attacked her was Nicholas’s woman, Hannah Hargrave had already entrusted a lawyer to resolve the matter, and despite Nicholas’s several attempts to visit and apologize, there was no room for negotiation.

The Hargrave couple shared the same stance. Their daughter was inexplicably injured, and it was by the woman of the man they considered as a future son-in-law. Knowing their daughter and Nicholas had no future, they were considerably ashamed and angry.

"Nicholas, it’s not that we Hargraves are petty, you say nothing serious happened to our Hannah, but what if that wild girl turned her into a vegetable, who would I go to for my daughter?" Josephine Hawthorne said with her arms crossed, showing no room for negotiation.

Nicholas Croft pursed his lips, not expecting the Hargrave family’s stance to be so resolute. He could cooperate with them, could even let Phoenix Entertainment have the hottest script he had recently signed, but he couldn’t let his little woman go to jail, not even for a day, because that would be a lifetime stain.

"Madam, is there really no room for negotiation?" Nicholas Croft tried probing again, for the first time lowering himself to this extent since he took the position.

"Nicholas, debts should be repaid and murder should be avenged, that’s the way of the world. If that girl dares to hurt someone at such a young age and isn’t punished by the law, won’t she become untameable in the future?"

"Josephine, what nonsense are you spouting?" Henry Hargrave interrupted, disapprovingly, his expression visibly displeased.

"How am I talking nonsense? Our Hannah almost became a vegetable just over a job discussion, am I wrong for seeking justice for her?" Josephine Hawthorne retorted, unconvinced. "That wild girl lacks education, the law should be allowed to punish her!"

The couple argued over his woman, making Nicholas Croft somewhat embarrassed. He immediately stood up and said apologetically, "Madam, Mr. Hargrave, it was my failure to manage my woman that caused you displeasure. I am sincerely sorry," he slightly nodded and added, "Sorry for disturbing."

After saying that, he was about to take long strides to leave when he was stopped by Henry Hargrave’s call, "Nicholas, wait a moment."

"Mr. Hargrave, is there something else?"

Henry Hargrave cleared his throat unnaturally and said, "About my daughter’s matter... it’s fine. I will handle it, and we won’t proceed with legal procedures."

Nicholas Croft...

Looked at Henry Hargrave in confusion, not expecting his attitude to change so quickly. He had been adamant just before, but after taking a call, he suddenly agreed.

Josephine Hawthorne was equally baffled and stood up immediately, displeased, "Grayson, do you know what you’re saying?"
