Chapter 995: Chapter 991: Wanting to Draw a Line with Him

Henry Hargrave glanced at his wife with displeasure and reprimanded in a low voice, "I know my own limits!"

Not wanting to be caught between the couple, and since Henry had already agreed not to pursue the matter, Nicholas Croft once again bowed and thanked them, "Mr. Hargrave, Madam, thank you both,"

Turning to Nicholas, Henry put on a cheerful smile, "No need to be so polite, feel free to visit our home anytime."

"I will," Nicholas nodded humbly, then left.

As he stepped out of the Hargrave Family’s gate, Josephine Hawthorne was still complaining to her husband Henry Hargrave inside the villa, "Grayson, what’s wrong with you? Why did you decide not to pursue it? Our daughter was hurt so badly..."

"Women, what do you know? I have my own reasons for not pursuing it..."

Seated in the driver’s seat, Nicholas let out a long sigh. Although he didn’t understand why Henry suddenly changed his mind, it was good as long as the little thing wouldn’t face legal responsibility.

Having just caught his breath, Nicholas returned to the company and frowned in confusion at the package on his desk.

He picked up the phone and dialed an extension, "Assistant Tang, come in for a moment." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

A few minutes later, Assistant Tang knocked and entered, "President, what is it?"

"Where did this come from?"

Nicholas picked up the small package from his desk, which only had the address of his office with no sender information.

Looking at the less than ten-centimeter-long plastic bag in Nicholas’s hand, Assistant Tang explained, "Oh, a courier brought it about half an hour ago. He said it was for you, and since you weren’t here, I signed for it on your behalf."

Looking at the package in his hand again, Nicholas instructed lightly, "Go back to your work,"

Assistant Tang responded and left. Nicholas took some tools from the drawer and opened the package. Inside, wrapped in a sanitary pad, was a bank card.

It was the card he had given to Sophie Foster, which he topped up with spending money for her every month.

"Is the little thing trying to cut ties with me?" Nicholas mused with amusement to himself. Since the day he refused to take her call, she hadn’t called back, nor had she returned to stay at his villa at night.

He hadn’t called her either, intending to let her cool off for a few days and reflect, so she wouldn’t act so impulsively in the future.

It now seemed the little thing clearly misunderstood his intentions.

He looked at the bank card again and again, then put it back in his desk drawer.

Without a "patron," Sophie Foster started hustling again for her livelihood, continuing to hand out flyers on the street during the day. After work, she returned to her rental apartment, took a quick shower, cooked a bowl of noodles, then went to her night job.

On stage, dressed in leather pants, Martin boots, and lacking the purple wig, her long hair was styled into countless dreadlocks.

She wore green eyeshadow, her eyelashes drawn long, and her bright red lips stood out. Her unique raven voice was her hallmark, not at all matching her petite frame.

Relaxing on the sofa, Nicholas casually swirled his wine glass, a noticeable curve on his lips. To be fair, his little one had the makings of a star. Despite her young age, the aura she exuded on stage was not inferior to that of professional singers.

After the song, a server approached the stage, whispered something in Sophie Foster’s ear, pointing in a certain direction. Nicholas knew someone had requested her song. As the music started, Sophie spoke some blessings into the microphone, then continued to sing.
