Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 235: People from Veridian Isle
Selena Quinn picked up her bag and intended to get up and leave.
Serena Lowell, seeing this, hurriedly chased after her, "Selena, don’t go!"
She couldn’t let this life-saving opportunity slip by again.
After leaving the VIP room, Selena suddenly felt her stomach was a bit uncomfortable and headed towards the restroom.
Serena followed behind.
Just as they reached the doorway, the voice of a middle-aged woman came through.
"That person really looks like Seraphina Redgrave, do you remember? She was the adopted daughter of Jonathan Redgrave’s family. When we saw her, she was just a thin little girl, but those eyes were truly captivating."
Seraphina Redgrave?
Upon hearing the name, Selena Quinn suddenly stopped.
Even though she always called her Sylvia, she had long known Sylvia Shaw’s real name was Seraphina Redgrave, and the ambiguous relationship she had with the Redgrave Family.
But she hadn’t told anyone, fearing that others would find out she knew too much, that she had instigated Lena Lynch to hit Seraphina Redgrave.
Now, hearing this familiar name again, Selena’s heart was slightly stirred as she quietly stood aside to listen to their continued conversation.
Mina Gable stood beside her, unsure whether to stay or leave, only able to wait for Selena.
The two wealthy women who were in the restroom were still chatting, with the one who hadn’t spoken earlier now touching up her makeup. After a moment of thought, she said, "Oh, I remember now. That Seraphina Redgrave was an abandoned baby, and the Redgrave Family took her in out of pity—she looked like a yokel, where’s the charm you speak of?"
"A yokel? You must be mistaken. Just now, I saw the bag she placed on the table, worth millions, and now she’s here to buy a house."
"You must be joking. That bag is probably a fake, after all, she hasn’t seen much of the world. And buying a house here? Impossible, she’s probably here looking for work." The woman covered her mouth and laughed.
"Hiss... that’s strange." The laughter abruptly stopped.
She looked around, confirmed there was no one else, and then whispered, "I just remembered some news I heard before. The Redgrave Family took her in to ward off misfortune for Mia Redgrave. Once, Lena Lynch asked me a strange question: how long could a normal person survive on Veridian Isle? I suspected then that they probably sent that little yokel there to fend off disaster. If that’s true, how could Seraphina Redgrave still be alive? You must have seen it wrong."
Veridian Isle?
The words were like a bomb exploding in Selena Quinn’s heart.
"Is that so?" The other wealthy lady mused, "We should visit the Redgrave Family next time, and inquire a bit."
Having stayed abroad for so long, they didn’t know the Redgrave Family had already disappeared from Sovereign.
Once they finished, they walked out, and Selena Quinn hid to the side, listening to their conversation.
"You must have seen it wrong. How could that little lunatic possibly have money to buy a house?"
"Maybe. Now that I think about it, it’s really unlikely. That little girl used to be so timid, not even daring to lift her head, how could she be like this now?"
As the two women walked further away, Mina Gable saw Selena Quinn standing there in a daze, puzzled, "Selena, what’s wrong?"
Selena was thinking about Seraphina Redgrave’s identity and, being interrupted, only then responded. She suddenly asked Serena Lowell, "Serena, I remember you used to have a good relationship with Mia Redgrave. Do you know why Sylvia Shaw dislikes the Redgrave Family so much?"
Serena shook her head, evidently not knowing why Selena would ask about this, "I’m not sure either."
"Then do you know anything else between Sylvia Shaw and Mia Redgrave?"
Selena asked urgently.
Serena, wanting Selena’s help, racked her brain to remember, "I’m not very sure either, only that ever since Leo Lynch brought Sylvia Shaw to Mia Redgrave’s birthday party, the two had a falling-out. That Shaw even ruined Mia’s entire birthday party."
This was what she remembered most clearly.
"Is there more?"
Selena knew about this too and felt a bit disappointed.
Seeing Selena’s expression, Serena panicked, desperately trying to recall, her mind flashing back to those two women’s conversation, "There was more! That day, at the birthday party, they mentioned Veridian Isle. Mia said Sylvia Shaw was the one who escaped from there and that she had handcuffs on her, which turned out to be just a jade bracelet."
Veridian Isle?
And Mia Redgrave said it herself.
Could it be!
Selena Quinn’s pupils trembled, covering her mouth in shock.
A ridiculous idea floated into her mind. If it were true...
Though it was just speculation, Selena couldn’t help but get excited. Her heart raced fiercely.
"Cough, cough, cough..."
Serena quickly helped Selena catch her breath, "Selena, are you all right?"
"I’m fine."
Selena felt like the opportunity was finally here.
This time, she could definitely turn things around!
She once was foolish, only knowing to use the Redgrave Family to get rid of Seraphina Redgrave without delving into their conflicts.
If Seraphina really came from Veridian Isle, then...
Selena’s breathing quickened, her lips trembling, a crazed look in her eyes.
Serena still didn’t know what was happening, looking at her strangely.
Selena walked down the stairs, and when she reached the first floor, she saw from afar the two women dressed in dazzling jewels staring in shock at a corner.
The general manager of the sales department, with several sales assistants, surrounded a woman.
On the table were the store’s finest beverages and pastries.
The woman was Seraphina Redgrave, who was signing agreements one by one—all of them property purchase contracts.
After signing each, the general manager promptly handed her the next one.
Unexpectedly, writing her name two hundred times was quite exhausting, and Seraphina couldn’t help but yawn.
Seeing their big customer tired, the general manager immediately suggested, "Miss Shaw, there’s a top rest room upstairs. Why not take a short break there before continuing?"
"No need, I’ll leave once this is quickly finished."
Seraphina worked like a machine, repeating the task at hand.
"Sylvia Shaw!"
Standing behind Selena, Serena couldn’t hold back her exclamation, jealousy and hatred filling her eyes, "How could a poor wretch like her possibly buy a house here? Just creating The Defiance Society wouldn’t earn her this much money, would it?"
Yet she had been evicted with no school to attend.
While this woman lived well, seemingly unaffected!
"..."
Selena stood there, indifferent—what did buying a house matter, wasn’t it just bought by her brother for her? She couldn’t afford it herself, right?
Then she thought of her own situation, having to sell houses here to repay debts—truly ironic.
But there’s always time; Seraphina Redgrave would definitely be brought down by her!
Selena cheered herself up, forcing a smile, and turned to leave.
Seraphina sat there, diligently signing contracts, unaware of Selena’s arrival and departure.
