Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 102: Keeping a Man Outside?
Shane smirked and pulled out his wallet, taking out a hundred dollars and placing it in her hand.
Audrey Sutton immediately pouted disdainfully, "Is Third Young Master Warner really that stingy?"
"Why don’t you tell me where your money has gone?"
Audrey raised her eyebrows, reached out to grab the dessert brought by the waiter, and while scooping with her spoon, said, "I’m not telling you."
Shane: "Are you supporting a man outside?"
Audrey glared at him and said, "Look at you. When I ask my brother for pocket money, he won’t ask me why I’m out of money, nor will he ask what I’m spending it on." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Shane said, "I’m afraid if I give you money, you’ll buy me a green hat to wear."
Audrey muttered, "You’re more likely to cheat on me. Who knows why you come home so late every night, whether you’re working overtime or accompanying some secretary."
"Fine, come straight to the office after school this afternoon. I’ll make space for you in my office to do your homework, and you can see whether I’m working overtime or accompanying a secretary."
Audrey raised her head to look at him, thinking he was provoking her: "Don’t assume I’m afraid to go."
He smiled calmly, "I’ll be waiting for you tonight."
"So knowing I’m coming, you’ve probably hidden your little secretary already."
"Then you should come every day."
Audrey didn’t show it, but in her heart, she was secretly delighted.
Finally, she had a legitimate reason to accompany him during overtime.
After saying this, he took out a card from his wallet and handed it to her: "Don’t ask your brother for money in the future, or people will think I’m treating you poorly. If you need more, just tell me. Take this card, and I’ll deposit living expenses into it every month. The initial password, you can change it yourself."
Audrey took the card with a smile and asked, "How much is the living expense?"
"Depends on your performance."
Audrey pouted, but inside she was laughing, thinking that if she didn’t spend his money, it’d be a waste. After all, they’re legally married, and if she didn’t spend it, other women surely would.
When the main course was served, Shane elegantly cut the steak on his plate with a knife and fork, asking her, "By the way, are you free next Thursday?"
Audrey paused upon hearing this; next Thursday was his birthday.
She had originally been planning how to celebrate his birthday without making it too shabby, yet she was really broke.
Hearing him ask this, it seemed he already had plans.
Audrey nodded, "But I have a class in the afternoon."
"It’s okay, as long as you’re free in the evening. Give me a call after school, and I’ll pick you up."
"Oh."
Audrey didn’t know what he had planned, but thought he’d probably invite some friends over for his birthday celebration, including Quentin Sterling and Clarissa Morgan.
...
After school in the afternoon, Audrey truly brought her homework and laptop bag to Shane’s company.
She brought dinner for Shane, and when she arrived, he was still in the meeting room.
Audrey placed the food on the coffee table and noticed that he had cleared half of his long office desk for her, with a chair in front of it and a lamp on the side.
Audrey smiled with satisfaction, realizing he wasn’t just saying things casually; he had really prepared everything for her.
Shane lightened his steps as much as possible and quietly opened the office door, seeing her diligently sitting at the desk doing homework.
She had changed out of her school uniform into a warm orange T-shirt dress, with her hair tied up in a high ponytail, and was burying her head writing in the workbook.
Shane walked into the room on light feet but still managed to disturb her.
"How long have you been here?" Shane walked over to the desk and put down the files in his hand.
"My homework is almost done." Audrey pushed the lunchbox towards him, "The dishes are cold, go heat them up in the microwave yourself."
Shane took a glance at her workbook, "I’ll have to check your homework after dinner."
"Check if you want." Audrey indifferently looked at her phone.
Shane took the lunchbox to the break room, and when he returned, Audrey was readying her laptop as if she was preparing to start work.
He ate his meal while scanning over her homework, occasionally using a pencil to make notations.
Audrey, while drawing, occasionally glanced at him, becoming curious about how he still remembered these things after graduating so long ago.
"One question was wrong. I’ve written out the thought process for you; fix it yourself."
When Audrey was distracted, he flung her workbook over to her. She picked it up and saw he had made some simple annotations with a pencil.
Noting where she’d been careless, where calculations were complicated, and which question had the wrong answer...
In less than ten minutes, he had not only reviewed all her questions but also provided such detailed and accurate corrections, leaving Audrey genuinely impressed.
His mother had mentioned he was a top student at their wedding and could help tutor her, which she thought was just an offhand remark.
With his brain, he could easily switch careers from business to teaching without a problem.
Alongside her admiration for him, her affections for him deepened further.
After dinner, Shane started working on his tasks, and Audrey quietly sat beside him focusing on her own work.
Even though she was doing the same tasks as she would at home, having him sitting by her side made her feel completely different.
While home alone, she’d often get distracted wondering why he stayed so late at work, what time he’d return, and honestly, she’d sometimes even idly speculate whether he was out messing around with other girls.
"Are you finished drawing?" Amidst the silence, his gentle, low voice sounded.
Audrey turned to glance at him, finding that he had closed his computer and tidied up the documents on his desk, as if preparing to leave.
Looking at the time on her laptop, she realized it was already ten o’clock.
"I can finish it tomorrow anyway, as long as it’s updated by Saturday." She said, stretching and yawning.
"Pack up your things, we’re leaving."
Audrey quickly stuffed her laptop and homework into her bag, walked with him to the office door, waited for him to switch off the lights, and lock the door. She glanced at him, hinting indirectly with a murmur, "This laptop is so heavy."
Shane gave her a sidelong glance: "Just say you don’t want to carry it."
As he spoke, he had already reached out and taken the laptop bag from her hand, walking ahead.
Audrey smiled and followed his steps.
At this hour, the company was quiet, and only their footsteps echoed in the corridors.
Taking the elevator down, walking to the entrance, and looking at the street’s nighttime view, Audrey suddenly had a romantic idea.
"Wait here, I’ll go get the car," Shane said.
Just as he took a step, Audrey called out, "Why don’t we walk back? It’ll be a nice exercise."
