Chapter 695: Chapter 695: As Long as He’s Good to Me

Audrey Sutton herself felt that the relationship between her and Shane Warner had changed quite a bit since they first got married.

Initially, when two people who don’t know each other come together, it’s inevitable there will be personality clashes. Suspicion and distrust can also lead to many misunderstandings and conflicts.

They’ve cried, they’ve argued, they’ve gone through a lot, and now they understand each other better and are clear about each other’s hearts.

Compared to before, life is a bit more bland, but it has become stable and happy. Isn’t this the goal people pursue in marriage?

Romance is no longer just about surprises; silent companionship is also a kind of romance that maintains the essence of a relationship.

Shane Warner is someone who doesn’t understand romance; he hasn’t given her many bouquets since they got married and hasn’t said sweet words. Yet he constantly thinks about her, placing her at the forefront of his thoughts thoughtfully and considerately. Audrey Sutton feels that this kind of practical love is much more important than beautiful words.

Driving Crystal Wilson away made Audrey Sutton feel like she’d won a victory, her heart filled with joy.

The journey was long, and rooms were assigned upstairs. After lunch, Audrey Sutton returned to the room with Vanessa Sterling to rest.

Audrey Sutton lay on the bed and had a video call with Shane Warner, saying she wanted to see their son. However, Anna had fallen asleep in Shane Warner’s office lounge, and Shane Warner was having lunch, so Audrey Sutton didn’t disturb him for long, chatting for a bit before hanging up.

"Knock knock—" Someone knocked at the door. Audrey Sutton glanced at the door, and Vanessa Sterling, who had just changed into her pajamas, went over to open it.

Then they heard Jasper Jones’ slightly awkward voice: "... Vanessa, are you staying here? They told me Audrey was in this room, sorry, there might be a mistake."

Vanessa Sterling pursed her lips and said, "Audrey and I are staying together, she’s inside."

As she spoke, Audrey Sutton got out of bed and walked over: "Brother Jones, you’re looking for me? What’s up?"

Jasper Jones glanced at Vanessa Sterling, chuckled dryly, and said to Audrey Sutton: "I have something to ask you, why don’t you come out for a moment?"

Audrey Sutton knew that Jasper Jones was probably asking about Vanessa Sterling, "Wait for me, I’ll get my coat."

Audrey Sutton followed Jasper Jones outside to the corridor railing. With furrowed brows and a look of distress, Jasper Jones said: "I don’t think Vanessa dislikes me, so I don’t understand why she doesn’t contact me. Audrey, do you think I still have a chance?"

Audrey Sutton hadn’t understood why Vanessa suddenly blocked Jasper, but thinking back, Audrey figured it mostly had to do with Miles Sterling. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Audrey Sutton pondered and said, "The situation with Vanessa’s family is a bit complicated, and I can’t explain it all at once. Besides, Vanessa herself doesn’t seem to be interested in finding someone, so I fear that even if you confess, Vanessa probably won’t agree."

Jasper Jones: "Then could you help me test the waters? See what she thinks first?"

Audrey Sutton hadn’t answered yet when Crystal Wilson’s voice came from behind, jokingly saying, "Audrey, Jones the Great, what private topics are you two discussing here alone? Audrey is a married woman, Jones the Great, you’d better be careful, it’s easy for people to misunderstand when a man and a woman are alone."

Jasper Jones laughed and teased back, "Crystal, you sure know how to tease me. I wish I could lean on Audrey, this rich lady, but her husband is Third Young Master Warner; she surely wouldn’t look at me, I’m aware of that."

Crystal Wilson laughed and said, "That might not be the case, wealthy wives using their husbands’ money to keep young men isn’t uncommon, Jones the Great, you’re quite handsome, maybe our Audrey will take a liking to you?"

Audrey Sutton turned to Crystal Wilson, smiling and saying, "Crystal, you’re quite the romance expert, always tying things back to relationships."

Crystal Wilson: "Oh Audrey, I’m just joking, don’t be mad."

Audrey Sutton: "I wouldn’t be mad at Crystal. When I went upstairs earlier, I saw Crystal entering a male editor’s room at the literature station. I thought he was Crystal’s new partner! But Mindy told me that editor is married, so I suppose Crystal was delivering a fruit platter?"

Crystal Wilson’s face changed slightly, and Audrey Sutton immediately said, "Oh Crystal, I’m just joking too. Don’t be mad at me. I’m sure Crystal went to discuss work matters with the editor, right?"

Crystal Wilson went along with it and said, "He used to do comics too, we’ve known each other for a while, so I went for a chat."

Audrey Sutton smiled and said, "I know Crystal isn’t that kind of person, I won’t be like some people who exaggerate and spread rumors, so you don’t need to explain."

Crystal Wilson: "Indeed, those people are the worst. The wind outside is strong, Audrey, be careful not to catch a cold. I’m heading back for a nap."

Audrey Sutton felt that Crystal Wilson was as nauseating as Clarissa Morgan.

Though Crystal Wilson might not cause such a big commotion as Clarissa Morgan, she’s like a persistent, annoying fly that can’t be swatted away.

The autumn afternoon sunlight was warm and soft.

The two lay lazily under the covers. Audrey Sutton asked, "Vanessa, do you have a crush on any boy?"

Vanessa Sterling paused, turned to face Audrey Sutton, and asked softly, "What kind of crush?"

Audrey Sutton thought for a moment and said, "Hmm... the kind you’d want to marry and spend a lifetime with."

Hearing this, Vanessa Sterling shook her head and said, "Honestly, I haven’t thought about marriage."

Audrey Sutton: "Is it because you haven’t met the right guy or because you don’t want to get married?"

Vanessa Sterling: "Both, I guess. I don’t know what the future holds, and I rarely interact with guys."

Audrey Sutton: "So... what type of guy do you like?"

Vanessa Sterling smiled and quickly replied, "As long as he’s good to me."

Audrey Sutton immediately asked, "What do you think of Jasper Jones?"

Vanessa Sterling was startled for a moment, then showed a bit of awkwardness and said, "He has a good personality. I felt guilty about the last incident. I thought he’d hold a grudge when we met again, but he was still all smiles."

Audrey Sutton didn’t probe further, but confirmed that Jasper Jones might still have a chance.

The rest, he’d have to communicate with Vanessa himself.

Given Vanessa’s special situation, she’ll have to make her own decisions.

However, Audrey personally felt the two were quite suitable; Vanessa is rather quiet, while Jasper is sunny and considerate.

If they really get together, Vanessa might change significantly, perhaps even dispelling some of the shadows Miles Sterling cast on her.
