Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 696: A Moment of Leisure
After lunch, Audrey Sutton and Vanessa Sterling ran to the top deck of the cruise, standing by the railing and gazing into the distance.
The sea was a deep blue, and the sun shimmered on the water like stars twinkling in the night sky.
Audrey Sutton opened her arms to the sea breeze, basking in the autumn sunlight, taking in the scenery around her, and remarked, "It’s so beautiful, and the weather today is quite nice. It’s been too long since I’ve been out to see and experience things."
At that moment, she thought how wonderful it would be if Shane Warner and Anna could join them too.
Though she was happy to be out having fun, it hadn’t been long before she started to miss her son.
...
"Wah—wah—"
The quiet office was suddenly filled with the sound of a baby’s cries.
Shane Warner immediately put down his pen, got up, and pushed open the door to the lounge, bending down to pick up the little one who had just woken up.
As long as he woke up naturally, the little guy wouldn’t cry for long, and once Shane held him in his arm, he soon quieted down.
Shane held him with one hand, with the other hand he took a bottle, poured some warm water into it, and handed it to Anna.
Anna held the bottle with both hands and drank eagerly.
When not crying or fussing, he was quite adorable and charming.
Seeing the child awake, Shane tidied up the files on the desk, picked up the jacket from the back of the chair, and left work.
The driver drove him home, and Shane placed Anna in the small cradle in the living room, letting her play on her own.
Shane walked to the fridge, took out ingredients, and began preparing dinner, seizing every moment the child wasn’t crying or fussing to tend to his own tasks.
Anna lay in the cradle, waving her little hands and feet, occasionally making a noise to assert his presence.
Just when Shane was marinating the steak, he heard the little one fart.
Guessing what was happening, Shane couldn’t help but wrinkle his brow, suddenly finding the steak before him less appetizing.
Anna’s habit was generally that after doing his business, he would cry, demanding you change his diaper before settling down.
Shane stood by the crib, watching Anna stare blankly at him, pause for a moment, and then start crying with a trembling mouth.
Knowing the little rascal had done his business, Shane reached for a diaper, then lifted the child out of the crib and carried him to the bathroom to wash his bottom and change his diaper.
Shane’s brow was furrowed the entire time.
Over where Audrey Sutton was, the cruise docked around six in the evening.
Since this was a man-made tourist island, as soon as they stepped off the ship, the scenery was exceptionally captivating.
The weather here was warmer, and it was said the sky generally wouldn’t darken until eight or nine at night, so this was the enchanting time of sunset.
Audrey Sutton’s hometown was a traditional-style ancient Chinese town, while this place resembled a European-style seaside town, different architectural styles, yet both could calm the inner restlessness, allowing enjoyment of the island’s brief tranquility.
Upon reaching the pier, they took the island’s unique scenic train to the reserved hotel, with every frame along the way a picturesque scene.
Audrey Sutton couldn’t wait to take out her phone and record a video, then shared it with Shane Warner.
She then took several sets of photos and posted them on her social media.
The hotel was situated at the highest point on the island, built like a magical castle from the movies.
It was spacious enough to accommodate all the people on their trip without any issue.
Audrey Sutton was still sharing a room with Vanessa, and outside the room was a balcony offering a panoramic view of the island’s scenery.
Next up was free activity time, they only needed to gather at the pier the next morning to board the ship.
They were all authors under Laura Yates, eight people in total, already familiar from earlier chats in the group, forming a small organization.
In the evening, they dined at the hotel restaurant, coincidentally across from Jasper Jones and his friends.
Jasper approached them, proposing plans to go out together the next day.
Jasper was not only handsome but also witty and humorous, so upon hearing he was joining, several single sisters were thrilled, and immediately began planning the next day’s itinerary with enthusiasm.
Before coming, Audrey Sutton had worried the island might be boring, but now through researching travel guides with the group, she realized there wasn’t enough time to explore everything in just one day, so she planned in her mind to definitely return with Shane Warner sometime.
The horizon at dawn slowly turned white, the morning breeze was slightly chilly, and the sound of leaves rustled in the wind.
Audrey Sutton woke up to such a morning, looked at the time on her phone, it was only just past six.
Beside her, Vanessa was nowhere to be seen, with the light faintly shining through from the adjacent bathroom and indistinct sounds.
Audrey Sutton, accustomed to waking early at home with the child, had agreed with everyone to head out at eight, so she got up and began changing clothes and doing makeup with Vanessa at a leisurely pace.
During the day here, the temperature was quite high, a small dress would suffice.
Audrey Sutton and Vanessa agreed on white dresses, helping each other style their hair into braids, applied light makeup, and donned small straw hats.
With their youthful and sweet appearance, you’d never guess Audrey Sutton was already a mother.
When the girls headed down, Jasper Jones and a few other guys were already waiting downstairs to have breakfast with them.
Jasper Jones seemed to be that kind of person who was particularly good at organizing and arrangement, putting others at ease, considering everything you thought and didn’t think of.
To facilitate outings, Jasper rented three cars from the hotel, just right for three cars’ worth of people.
Audrey Sutton deliberately wanted to create an opportunity for Jasper and Vanessa, so she pulled Vanessa along to get into the car driven by Jasper.
They drove down the winding mountain road, heading to a theme park here rated highest by tourists.
Along the way, Jasper didn’t overly engage with Vanessa, likely worried that being too forward and making his intentions too evident might make Vanessa uncomfortable.
In the car, Vanessa seemed rather relaxed, though she didn’t say much, she smiled while listening to everyone chatting and laughing.
Upon entering the park, everyone stuck together at first, but after entering, there were so many activities to enjoy, and many tourists, so they slowly split into smaller groups.
Audrey Sutton and Vanessa were always arm in arm, inseparable wherever they went, then Jasper called, found them, and handed each a cup of milk tea, asking, "They’ve gone to play in the haunted house over there, do you want to join?"
Audrey Sutton’s mind immediately flashed back to the time she went to the haunted house with Shane Warner, she almost never opened her eyes the whole time, practically clinging to Shane and following him.
With Shane around, she probably wouldn’t play in a haunted house again, let alone when he wasn’t there, so upon hearing Jasper’s suggestion, Audrey Sutton promptly shook her head and quipped, "Not going, I’m too old to handle the scares."
Vanessa also said, "I’m scared too, can’t play."
Jasper: "Then where do you plan to go? I’ll accompany you, we can reunite with them later."
Audrey Sutton pointed beside them and said, "Vanessa said she wants to try the roller coaster."
Jasper nodded, "Okay, let’s go, the entrance is over there. I’ll join you."
At this point, Audrey Sutton felt a bit like a third wheel.
