Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 785: Your Boss Doesn’t Want to Go Home
Eight years ago, that case was a knot in Scott Sutton’s heart that he couldn’t untie.
He used to be the youngest lawyer in court, earning his qualification at the age of nineteen and creating an unbeaten legend in court within a year.
Back then, he was also arrogant, believing his skills were top-notch in the industry.
Until that fifteen-year-old girl came to him...
He promised to help her win the lawsuit but ignored the mental pressure the girl had long endured...
Scott Sutton took out his phone and found a message from eight years ago.
It was the last message the girl sent him while standing on a tall building.
Since then, Scott Sutton has never taken on another case. To this day, stories about Scott Sutton still circulate in the industry, but no one knows why this young man, who could have created a legend, retired at the peak of his career.
Past eight in the evening, Shane Warner got off the plane and went straight to pick up Audrey Sutton and their son.
Shane Warner didn’t ask much about how Audrey Sutton was handling the apartment, just thinking she wanted to be a landlord and earn some pocket money from rent.
When Audrey Sutton carried Anna downstairs, the little guy was already asleep.
The family of three sat in the back; Shane Warner held Anna, nodding toward the suit jacket on Audrey Sutton’s side with his chin.
Without words, Audrey Sutton understood Shane Warner’s meaning, reached out for the jacket, and gently covered Anna with it. She then lightly pounded Shane Warner’s shoulder with her small fist and asked with a laugh, "Tired?"
Shane Warner turned his head to look at Audrey Sutton, smiling meaningfully, and said, "Not tired, I can still exercise with you when we get back."
Audrey Sutton gave Shane Warner a firm punch, glanced at the driver in front, and though Shane Warner’s voice was low, she still glared at him and said, "Not a decent thought all day long!"
Shane Warner said, "What did I say? It’s you who doesn’t have decent thoughts all day long."
"Hmph!" Audrey Sutton moved away from him, leaning against the car window on the other side.
Shane Warner glanced at her with a chuckle, pointed at his shoulder, and said, "I slept wrong last night, it hurt all day, come over and give me a massage."
"Massage yourself!"
"Sigh, rushed back from the business trip, and my wife is giving me the cold shoulder. I wouldn’t have come back so early if I knew."
Listening to Shane Warner’s sarcastic remark, Audrey Sutton turned her head and glared at him, "Where do you want to go if not home? Do you have another home there?"
Shane Warner said, "I don’t have another home, but there are hotels everywhere."
Audrey Sutton then told the driver, "Please take us to the nearest hotel, your boss doesn’t want to go home."
Even the driver couldn’t help but jest, "I think the boss is in a hurry to get home, rushed over as soon as he got off the plane."
"Mmm—" Anna whimpered in Shane Warner’s arms, then pouted as if about to cry.
Audrey Sutton leaned over to look, seeing Anna’s eyes open. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
First, Anna pouted looking around, but seeing both mom and dad were there, he held back the tears, rubbed his eyes with his little hands, and remained comfortably nestled in Shane Warner’s arm.
Seeing his son awake, Shane Warner said, "I bet he’ll be up half the night again tonight."
Audrey Sutton pinched her son’s chubby cheeks, muttering, "Then you go stay at a hotel, no one will disturb you."
Shane Warner reached around from behind Audrey Sutton and secretly pinched her waist, whispering ambiguously in her ear, "I think you need a lesson, I’ll settle this with you at home!"
Audrey Sutton, ticklish, twisted away from his grasp, rolling her eyes at Shane Warner, "Your mind is in the gutter!"
Shane Warner defended himself, "Distance makes the heart grow fonder."
Audrey Sutton remarked, "You were only gone for three days! Don’t make it sound like you’ve been away for half a year!"
Shane Warner said, "Three days is a long time; all that I missed should be made up for properly."
Just as he finished speaking, his phone rang from his pocket.
Audrey Sutton reached over and pulled Anna into her arms, whispering to him, "Let’s ignore him!"
Shane Warner became serious, answering the phone to discuss work matters.
With sleep fulfilling Anna, he sat in Audrey Sutton’s lap looking around, reaching for the ring on Shane Warner’s finger.
While still on the call, Shane Warner obligingly stretched his hand over to let the child play.
By the time Shane Warner finished the call, they had arrived home.
During the call, Audrey Sutton overheard that Shane Warner needed to send someone a file after returning home, so while Shane Warner went to the study to handle those matters, Audrey Sutton took Anna upstairs for a bath.
Anna quite enjoyed bath time, loving to play with water and bubbles, but the evening was cool, and Audrey Sutton didn’t dare let him play long to avoid a cold. She quickly brought him out after the bath.
While laying him on the bed to dress him, Shane Warner entered the room, "Bath time over?"
Audrey Sutton nodded in response, "Yes, he’s all clean. You can go wash up first; you’re always quick."
Shane Warner unbuttoned his shirt while walking toward Audrey Sutton, saying, "I’ll wait for you so we can go together."
Audrey Sutton knew what Shane Warner was up to and wasn’t against it, but matter-of-factly said, "I’ll watch our son while you wash up, then we swap."
Shane Warner said, "You can just leave him on the play mat downstairs, there’s a fence, he won’t go far."
Audrey Sutton gave him a look, saying, "Is that something you, a biological father, would say? Your son is currently very active, he can grab things and stand up on his own. Just the other day, Summer wasn’t careful and fell, now there’s a big bump on the forehead."
Shane Warner took off his shirt, revealing his perfectly toned muscles. He went to the bedside and picked up the robe Audrey Sutton had prepared, "Kids don’t grow up without a few tumbles?"
Audrey Sutton said, "Go wash up!"
Shane Warner, holding the robe, walked toward the bathroom, puzzled, "Why are you so mean now?"
Audrey Sutton glanced back, "It’s all your fault!"
Shane Warner stood at the bathroom door, turned before entering, and asked, "You’re not really keeping a pretty boy outside, are you?"
Audrey Sutton picked up Anna, gently pinched his cheek, "Yeah, this little face is white and tender."
With that, Audrey Sutton picked up the baby cream on the bedside to apply it to Anna’s face.
Anna hated this part the most, always using his little hands to push Audrey Sutton’s hands away, but she applied it quickly, completed the task, and then contentedly sniffed the fragrant little boy.
