Chapter 786: Chapter 786: I Feel Like You’re Insulting Me

In the few minutes Shane Warner spent pondering what color socks Anna should wear, he had already finished his shower.

Audrey Sutton handed the socks she found to Shane Warner and said, "You dress him, I’m going to take a shower."

Shane Warner reached for the little socks and suddenly said, "I remember..."

He paused deliberately, causing Audrey Sutton to turn her head in curiosity and ask, "Remember what?"

Shane Warner glanced toward the closet and continued, "Didn’t you buy a lot of... little clothes before? How come I’ve never seen you wear them?"

Audrey Sutton: "..."

Shane Warner: "Could it be you’ve gained weight and can’t fit into them anymore?" 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Audrey Sutton immediately retorted, "I haven’t gained weight!"

Shane Warner: "Then why did you buy them and not wear them?"

Audrey Sutton walked to the bathroom with her pajamas, mumbling, "They got lost in the move, can’t find them."

Shane Warner put down the towel he was using to dry his hair, sat on the edge of the bed, and slipped the socks onto Anna’s feet, saying, "I knew you were scatterbrained and didn’t tidy up. I saw them and put them in the bottom cabinet of the wardrobe. I’ll find them for you and put them by the door."

Audrey Sutton couldn’t help but roar, "You’re unbelievable!"

She had clearly hidden them on purpose!

Shane Warner turned back with a smile and said, "Be good, go take your shower. I’ll find the clothes for you."

Audrey Sutton grumbled as she walked into the bathroom.

After Shane Warner finished dressing Anna in socks, he wanted to quickly get the little guy to sleep.

He made a bottle of formula for Anna and then held her in the usual way to coax her to sleep, walking back and forth at the bedside.

Unexpectedly, Anna kept struggling to sit up, showing no intention of sleeping.

Shane Warner had no choice but to lay Anna back on the bed, watching her drink from the bottle with one hand while playing with a few red and green building blocks with the other.

This went on until almost midnight. The family of three lay on the bed, and only then did the tired-out Anna fall asleep nestled in Shane Warner’s arm.

Audrey Sutton was already drowsy, and Shane Warner, who had been somewhat sleepy, perked up seeing his son asleep.

He got up to move Anna to the crib beside him and then snuggled up to Audrey Sutton...

The already asleep Audrey Sutton felt as if someone was covering her mouth and nose in her dream, making her breathing difficult.

The suffocating feeling woke Audrey Sutton from her sleep. As she opened her eyes, she saw Shane Warner’s enlarged face.

As she went to curse, she realized the culprit blocking her breathing.

Audrey Sutton frowned and reached out to push Shane Warner, who finally released her, standing up and smiling, "Awake?"

Audrey Sutton, still dazed, had no idea what time it was. She immediately turned her head to look for her son, only to see the sleeping Anna in the crib beside her.

Shane Warner reached over and pulled Audrey Sutton up from the bed. Then he placed a JK outfit he had recently retrieved from the wardrobe in front of Audrey Sutton: "Get up, I’ll help you change clothes."

Audrey Sutton felt so sleepy she couldn’t open her eyes and asked in a not-so-pleasant tone, "What’s gotten into you in the middle of the night?"

Shane Warner unfolded the outfit as he spoke, "Anna said she wants a little sister."

Audrey Sutton glared at him in irritation, "Let her say that to me!"

"Shh—" Shane Warner gently pressed his finger to Audrey Sutton’s lips, "Lower your voice, don’t wake our son."

Audrey Sutton picked up her phone from the bedside table to check the time; it was half-past midnight.

She suddenly felt angry, "What time is it?! Why aren’t you sleeping?!"

Shane Warner, seeing Audrey Sutton’s resistance, sat on the bed and pulled her into his arms from behind, resting his chin in the nook of her neck, asking, "Before I came back, didn’t you say there was something you wanted to tell me?"

Audrey Sutton was too tired: "I’ll tell you in the morning."

Shane Warner: "I’m in a good mood now, I might agree to whatever you say. But if you wait until morning... that might not be the case."

Audrey Sutton: "I can’t explain it in just a few words, I’ll tell you when I’m awake. Go to sleep."

"No way!" Shane Warner held her tight, changing strategy as he asked, "Then let’s talk about that two million dollars."

Audrey Sutton stiffened and turned to look at him, feigning ignorance: "What two million? What are you dreaming about?"

Shane Warner pinched Audrey Sutton’s face: "Still pretending? Honestly, what kind of trouble are you up to behind my back?"

Audrey Sutton actually had an excuse prepared, but it was a long story.

Knowing Shane Warner responded better to softness than hardness, she rubbed her eyes, yawned, and put on a look of exhaustion and sleepiness, snuggling into Shane Warner’s arms, softening her tone to say sweetly, "Honey, I’m really tired, let’s go to sleep, okay?"

"Have you ever seen a movie?" Shane Warner asked suddenly.

Audrey Sutton was puzzled, "Hmm? What movie?"

Shane Warner: "It’s about a married couple of many years, with the husband frequently on business trips and the wife staying home to take care of the child."

The situation was similar to theirs, prompting Audrey Sutton to ask lightly, "And then?"

Shane Warner’s hand stroked Audrey Sutton’s waist intermittently as he continued, "In the past, the couple was always very affectionate, and each time the husband returned, the wife would be particularly enthusiastic, and they would always be intimate after each reunion."

Audrey Sutton frowned in confusion, "What exactly are you trying to say?"

Shane Warner: "Later, the husband returned home one time to find his wife had changed; she was not as enthusiastic as before, often using various excuses to deny his affections, claiming things like ’I’m very tired’ or ’I’m really sleepy’."

Audrey Sutton’s frown deepened, feeling that Shane Warner was only beating around the bush to scold her; she asked, "Is there really such a movie?"

Shane Warner continued with the story: "The husband, growing suspicious after several incidents, once pretended to be on a business trip but stayed in a hotel across the street from their home to monitor the house and eventually discovered his wife’s affair, which had started around the time she changed."

Audrey Sutton glared at him, "I feel like you’re accusing me."

Shane Warner looked at her with a smirk, "I’m just telling you a story. The movie explained that when the wife said she was tired and sleepy, she wasn’t lying, because she spent all her energy accompanying another man, leaving her with none for her husband, isn’t that right, dear wife?"

After hearing the story, Audrey Sutton’s mind cleared slightly, not feeling as sleepy as before.

She understood Shane Warner’s roundabout story and couldn’t help but chuckle, teasing, "Master Shane went through such trouble just to express his jealousy."

Shane Warner did not deny it, instead leaning closer and lowering his voice to ask, "Honey, what were you doing all day? Why are you so tired?"
