My Dragon King System-Chapter 393: Edging Towards The End(II)
The gates of the colosseum opened once more, and the champions of Zahka stepped onto the arena floor.
At the front walked Tzar, the Supreme Asura. His posture was calm, but his presence radiated power. He wore simple robes, and his sword remained sheathed and strapped to his side as his eyes scanned the opposing side.
Beside him was Queen Selene of Zahka and she held a slender katana in one hand, with the blade already drawn and resting against her shoulder.
The third was another Asura, a swordsman and he carried a single longsword.
From the Skallgard side, three viking warriors stepped forward.
The first was a massive man with a thick red beard and a double-bladed axe strapped to his back. His arms were covered in tattoos, and his grin was wild.
The second was a woman with blonde braids and a war hammer that looked as though it could crush anything with a single swing.
The third was a younger warrior, lean and fast, carrying twin hand axes.
The six champions took their positions across from each other, then the lesser god raised his hand and said,
"Begin!"
——
The moment the word was spoken, the viking warriors charged.
The massive man with the double-bladed axe swung it in a wide horizontal arc aimed at Tzar, and the blade cut through the air with terrifying force.
At the last possible second, Tzar sidestepped the strike and the axe passed inches from his body, and the force of the swing sent a gust of wind across the arena.
Tzar’s hand moved to the hilt of his sword, and in one smooth motion, he drew the blade and struck the viking’s exposed side.
The slash landed and the viking staggered backward, with blood seeping through his armor.
But he didn’t fall. Instead, he grinned and charged again.
——
Queen Selene engaged the blonde viking woman.
The war hammer came down in a heavy overhead strike, and Selene sidestepped it with grace. The hammer struck the ground, and the impact sent cracks spiderwebbing across the ground.
Selene retaliated immediately.
Her katana flashed in the light as she delivered a series of rapid slashes aimed at the viking’s torso.
The viking woman raised her hammer and blocked the first two strikes, but the third caught her shoulder, and ood dripped from the wound, but she didn’t slow down.
She swung her hammer in a wide arc, forcing Selene to leap backward.
——
The third Asura faced the lean viking with twin hand axes.
The viking moved with speed, his axes spinning in rapid strikes. But the Asura met each one with his longsword, parrying and deflecting with perfect timing.
Their blades clashed over and over and the sound of metal rang across the arena.
The viking pressed forward, trying to overwhelm the Asura with sheer aggression. But the Asura remained calm all through. In one swift motion, the Asura sidestepped a strike, brought his sword down on the viking’s wrist, and disarmed him.
The viking’s axe clattered to the ground and Asura followed up with a strike to the viking’s chest as the force sent him staggering backward after which a flash of light consumed him.
——
The massive viking with the double-bladed axe was still fighting Tzar.
He swung his weapon in wide, powerful arcs, each one capable of cleaving through armor. But Tzar moved fluidly, avoiding every strike with minimal effort.
Then Tzar countered.
His sword flashed, and he struck the viking’s axe directly. The force of the blow sent vibrations through the weapon, and the viking’s grip faltered.
Tzar didn’t give him time to recover. He stepped forward and delivered a precise strike to the viking’s midsection.
The viking gasped, and his axe fell from his hands and a flash of light consumed him.
——
Queen Selene and the blonde viking woman were still locked in combat.
The viking swung her hammer again, and Selene ducked beneath it. She retaliated with a slash aimed at the viking’s legs.
The blade cut deep, and the viking stumbled. She tried to swing her hammer again, but her balance was off.
Selene didn’t hesitate. She stepped forward and drove her katana into the viking’s shoulder.
And right then, a flash of light consumed her as well.
The lesser god raised his hand. "Zahka wins!"
The crowd erupted into cheers.
Tzar sheathed his sword and walked back toward the gate without a word. Queen Selene followed, and the third Asura walked behind them.
——
The colosseum fell into a brief recess before the final match of the round.
The champions returned to their sections, and the crowd murmured with anticipation. The final match would determine who would face Xathia in the ultimate battle for Stage Two.
During the recess, Adam rose from his seat and descended from the elevated platform. He walked toward the section where Laela, Arianna, and Uriel sat with the children.
The three women looked up as he approached.
Adam stopped in front of them, his expression calm but serious. "Is there a problem that has made the King of Dragons absent from this for a while now?"
Laela glanced at Arianna, then at Uriel. None of them spoke for a moment.
Finally, Uriel said quietly, "We are unable to say fully until he returns."
Adam studied her face for a moment, then nodded. "I see."
He turned and walked back toward the elevated platform without another word.
The three women watched him go, their expressions filled with concern. They had an idea why Aiden was absent and knew it had to do with finding the agents of the rulers.
But that didn’t make it any easier.
——
The recess ended, and the crowd settled back into their seats.
The gates of the colosseum opened once more, and the champions of the final match stepped onto the arena floor.
From the Zahka side, Tzar walked at the front. Beside him was Queen Selene, her katana already drawn. And the third was another sword Asura.
From the Dragonhold side, Thamoryn led the way. Beside her walked Ursula, and finally, King Oberon himself, with white lightning crackling around his body.
The six champions took their positions across from each other.
The crowd fell silent.
The lesser god raised his hand.
"Begin!"
——
The moment the word was spoken, Thamoryn vanished in a flash of light.
She reappeared directly in front of Tzar and released a concentrated blade of light aimed at his chest.
Tzar’s hand moved to his sword, and he drew it in one smooth motion. The blade met the light attack, and the two forces clashed in a burst of energy.
Thamoryn vanished again and reappeared to his left, releasing another blade of light.
Tzar shifted his stance and blocked it, his eyes tracking her movements with sharp focus. He didn’t chase her, instead he simply waited while reading her pattern, and reacting the moment she appeared.
She came at him again from behind with another blade of light.
Tzar turned and blocked it, his sword meeting the attack with perfect timing.
He wasn’t matching her speed naturally but he had just enough to react when needed, and his defense was flawless.
——
Ursula raised both hands, and multiple celestial magic circles formed in the air around her. From each one, concentrated beams of blue energy shot forward toward Queen Selene and the sword Asura.
Queen Selene dodged the first beam, then the second. The sword Asura deflected a third with his blade.
But the beams kept coming, forcing both of them to stay on the defensive.
——
Oberon faced the sword Asura.
The Asura moved with speed, his blade flashing as he delivered a series of rapid strikes.
Oberon activated Godspeed, and white lightning engulfed his body. He blurred to the side, avoiding the first strike, then the second.
Then he retaliated.
His fist, charged with white lightning, shot forward aimed at the Asura’s midsection.
The Asura raised his sword and blocked the strike, but the force of the blow sent him skidding backward.
——
Thamoryn continued her assault on Tzar.
She appeared above him and released a rain of light blades.
Tzar raised his sword and deflected them one by one, his movements calm and controlled. Each deflection was precise, wasting no energy.
She appeared to his right. Another blade of light.
He blocked it.
She appeared behind him. Another attack.
He turned and blocked it again.
He wasn’t overwhelmed. But he couldn’t advance either. All he could do was react, wait, and defend.
——
Ursula’s celestial beams had forced Queen Selene and the sword Asura into a corner.
They were dodging and deflecting, but they couldn’t advance.
Ursula raised both hands higher, and the magic circles intensified. The beams grew larger, brighter, and more powerful.
Then she released them all at once.
The beams converged on both targets from multiple angles.
——
Oberon and the sword Asura were locked in close combat.
The Asura’s blade flashed in rapid strikes, and Oberon dodged each one with white lightning-enhanced speed.
Then Oberon saw an opening.
His fist shot forward, charged with white lightning, and struck the Asura directly in the chest.
The impact was devastating.
The Asura was thrown backward, and he hit the ground hard.
But he pushed himself up almost immediately, breathing hard.
The battle raged on.
And the crowd watched in silence
