Chapter 394: Edging Towards The End(III)

The battle continued with relentless intensity.

Thamoryn vanished and reappeared in rapid succession, her body flickering like a strobe of light across the arena.

Each time she materialized, she released another blade of light aimed at Tzar from a different angle.

Tzar remained calm, moving his sword with precision and deflecting each attack as it came. His eyes tracked her movements, reading the subtle shifts in light that preceded her appearances.

She came at him from above. He blocked.

She appeared to his right. He blocked again.

From behind. He turned and deflected.

His defense was flawless, but Thamoryn wasn’t slowing down.

She pressed the assault, her speed overwhelming, her attacks coming faster and faster.

Then Tzar stopped moving.

He planted his feet firmly on the ground and exhaled slowly. His grip on his sword tightened, and his eyes closed for a brief moment.

When they opened, his entire demeanor had changed.

"Eighth Martial Gate," he said quietly.

A surge of energy erupted from his body. The air around him distorted, and the ground beneath his feet cracked.

His muscles tensed, and veins became visible along his arms and neck as his ki flared outward in waves of power.

Then he moved.

Tzar blurred forward, and for the first time in the fight, he matched Thamoryn’s speed.

Thamoryn’s eyes widened in surprise as Tzar appeared directly in front of her, bringing down his in a vertical slash aimed at her shoulder.

She vanished just in time, reappearing several meters away.

But Tzar was already there.

He had anticipated her movement, and his fist, charged with Ki, drove toward her midsection.

Thamoryn raised her hand and released a burst of light magic that deflected the blow. The force of the clash sent both of them skidding backward.

Thamoryn regained her footing and stared at him. "So you can keep up now."

Tzar said nothing. He simply raised his sword and charged again.

——

From the Dragonhold section, Katherine watched the exchange with focused eyes. She leaned forward slightly and said, "The Eighth Gate. That’ll even the odds."

Piers, who sat beside her, glanced at her. "Can you reach the Eighth Gate too?"

Katherine laughed. "I can do more."

Piers seemed surprised for a moment, then smiled. "My badass wife"

Katherine had a soft smile hearing that.

——

Across the arena, Oberon faced the sword Asura.

The Asura pressed forward, letting his blade cut through the air in a series of relentless combinations.

Oberon dodged each one, his movements enhanced by the white lightning crackling around him.

Then he saw an opening, which made him lunge forward with a fist shot outwards, charged with white lightning, and striking the Asura in the ribs.

The impact sent the Asura staggering backward, but he recovered quickly and raised his sword to block the next strike.

Oberon followed up with a kick aimed at the Asura’s midsection. The Asura sidestepped and retaliated with a horizontal slash.

Oberon leaned back, and the blade passed inches from his face.

They separated for a moment, both breathing hard.

The Asura shifted his stance and charged again. His sword came down in a powerful overhead strike aimed at Oberon’s head.

Oberon raised his hand, and with white lightning crackled around his palm he caught the blade mid-swing, absorbing the force of the strike.

Then he pulled the Asura forward and drove his knee into the Asura’s stomach.

The Asura gasped, and his grip on his sword faltered.

Oberon didn’t give him time to recover. He released the blade and delivered a devastating punch to the Asura’s chest, charged with white lightning.

The impact was overwhelming.

The Asura was thrown backward, and he hit the ground hard. His body twitched once, then went still.

Right then, a flash of light consumed him and he was .

Oberon exhaled and glanced across the arena as his eye sight landed on Thamoryn, who was still locked in combat with Tzar.

This time, Tzar combined his sword techniques with his martial arts. He swung his blade in a horizontal arc, forcing Thamoryn to vanish. But the moment she reappeared, he followed up with a spinning kick aimed at her ribs.

Thamoryn blocked the kick with her forearm, but the force of the blow pushed her backward. She retaliated immediately, releasing a concentrated beam of light magic aimed at his chest.

Tzar sidestepped the beam and closed the distance between them in an instant, bringing his sword came down in a diagonal slash, and Thamoryn raised her hand to block it with her own sword, made from light magic

The two forces collided, and the impact sent shockwaves across the arena.

Tzar’s body was beginning to show the strain of the Eighth Gate. Sweat dripped down his face, and his breathing had become heavier. But his eyes remained sharp, and his grip on his sword didn’t falter.

Thamoryn, on the other hand, was not as exhausted as the Supreme Asura. Her light magic gave her incredible stamina, and she could maintain her speed for much longer.

But Tzar wasn’t done yet. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

He shifted his stance and raised his sword above his head as Ki gathered around the blade, glowing with a faint bluish light. Then he brought the sword down in a powerful overhead strike.

Thamoryn vanished, but Tzar had anticipated that. The moment she reappeared to his left, he pivoted and delivered a devastating punch to her side.

The blow connected, and Thamoryn gasped as the air was knocked out of her lungs. She staggered backward, clutching her ribs.

Tzar didn’t give her time to recover. He dashed forward and swung his sword in a rapid combination of strikes, each one aimed at a different vital point.

Thamoryn blocked the first two strikes with blades of light, but the third caught her shoulder. Blood seeped from the wound, and she gritted her teeth in pain.

Then she vanished again, reappearing high above the arena. She raised both hands, and multiple magic circles formed around her.

"Light Magic: Radiant Cascade."

From each magic circle, beams of concentrated light shot downward toward Tzar.

Tzar raised his sword and began deflecting the beams one by one. His movements were precise, his timing perfect. But the beams kept coming, and the strain on his body was becoming more apparent.
