Chapter 642

Anton kept casting his spells nonstop for several hours. The other wizards near him started to look at him askance because they themselves had to be relieved by waiting wizards behind after three or four hours of casting their spells, but Anton was like a machine that spews out spells one after another.

No one could complain about the power and impact of his spells. Because of the combination of curses from the Necromancer skill tree and the offensive spells from the Sorceress, the Paladin, and the Druid skill tree, and with the assistance of the long-range and magic-strengthening array, Anton’s spell caused quite a lot of devastation to the undead enemies that he targeted.

The undead horde received several varieties of spells from the wizards of the kingdoms of Ormunda, New Drennor, and Mendoza. The enemy spellcasters focused their spells on defensive spells since even if the liches, vampires, hags, and necromancers cast their attack spells toward the walls that surrounded the camp, there were dedicated wizards that was focused on defensive spells.

Anton had to admit that defensive spells were his weakness. His personal defenses were great since it was a combination of a few spells from different skill trees of his Diablo II characters, the items that he was wearing inside and outside of the game, and the sheer number of his stats, but he could not do what the other wizards did when it came to casting defensive spells that would protect others and specific places.

The good thing about his system was that he could cover up his weakness by studying spells outside of his Diablo II system, given enough time. Anton knew deep down that if he was allowed to grow, he could become one of the most powerful beings in this world, given that he had access to two different systems. His Diablo II system and the standard magic of this world.

When the sun rose in the east, the battle was still ongoing. The roads and fields that the undead horde traversed to get to their camp, and ultimately, to New Drennor, were severely devastated from the combination of the undead’s delight in wanton destruction and the wizards’ spells' sheer destructiveness.

As Anton kept saying to himself and to anyone else who would listen to him, he did not care if their spells caused massive destruction as long as the undead were either destroyed or driven off from the continent. Any destruction in the lands could easily be fixed by magic.

The battle continued even after the sun was on top of them. Anton was simply amazed at the sheer number of undead that the coalition had managed to gather ever since they had landed on the Gale Continent. He knew, though, that the portal they erected that led to Rendindura contributed to that.

Anton kept casting the curses from the Necromancer skill tree, followed by all the offensive spells from different characters. One spell after another, nonstop, like clockwork. He did not even know what was happening around or behind him since he was focused on the enemies ahead. He knew, though, that in the area he was in, he was the only wizard who had stayed inside one of the long-range and magic-strengthening arrays since all the others were replaced by other wizards.

It was proven again that no one could compare to his magic stamina. Anton’s Meditation Aura and Vigor Aura allowed him to stay and cast his spells seemingly without any limit. He would have shared his aura with the wizards near him, but his experience with that Invincible Wizard Katrina, who was probably one of the enemy liches by now, made him wary of sharing the details of his abilities with others.

Remembering Katrina, Anton hoped that she had become a lich so he could destroy her someday.

When the sun was straight up in the sky, telling everyone that it was noon, five powerful liches appeared. Based on the mana fluctuations emanating from them, the liches were probably semi-divine liches. The moment they appeared, seven wizards from their side flew up to confront them, and Anton could ascertain that the seven wizards had equal rank with the five liches.

After that, a devastating battle occurred between the powerful semi-divine rank beings. At first, Anton wanted to escape because he was sure that the camp would be affected, but suddenly three wizards flew up and cast powerful defensive spells that mitigated any damaging spells from the battle. It was the same on the undead horde side.

Anton greedily watched the battle, comforted by the fact that he and the others would not be affected by the spell battle. He wanted to get some inspiration from the spells that the powerful semi-divine wizards were casting. Maybe there was a chance that he could copy and adapt those spells into his spells.

After thirty minutes of watching the spell battle between the powerful semi-divine spellcasters, their battle shifted so far above that Anton could barely see anything anymore. Suddenly, he heard a voice in his head, probably a message from one of the semi-divine wizards in the camp, telling them to continue attacking the undead horde.

As if a floodgate was suddenly opened, the battle between the undead horde and the camp restarted.

Soon, Anton could see that despite the spells that were attacking the undead armies, they kept getting nearer. After a while, the undead horde was just a few meters away from the walls of the camp.

Anton summoned all of his summons and placed them beneath the walls. The summons was not alone. There were quite a number of defenders, and soon, melee battles occurred, but based on what he could see, the semi-divine wizards would need to act soon because it looked like their side was losing.

He saw that three more powerful semi-divine wizards appeared from their camp and started attacking the undead. Unfortunately, they were met with undead spellcasters equal to their rank, and their battle also shifted from the ground up into the sky.

That meant that the battle between the camp and the undead horde would probably mostly depend on the regular mages in the camp and the undead horde.

The battle continued, and Anton and the rest of the wizards tried their best not to allow the undead horde to reach the walls, but they failed. Whenever a powerful semi-divine wizard would arrive to assist them, he or she would be met with an equal rank undead spellcaster.

At first, Anton thought that the sheer number of wizards from three kingdoms would be enough to defend the camp, but the number of powerful undead spellcasters that met them was too shocking.

Anton did not summon his summons again when they were overrun by the undead because he knew that their presence would not help. After a while, the walls that were created by the wizards from the three kingdoms to surround the camp crumbled.

A telepathic command suddenly appeared in Anton’s mind, and he assumed that everyone else heard the same thing. The command stated that everyone would need to retreat to New Drennor, but slowly. They needed to retreat while continuing to cast their spells so that the undead horde would be delayed, so that was what Anton did.

The moment the wall where the magic array he was using was placed was destroyed, he started flying backwards, but did not stop casting his spells toward his enemy. Unfortunately, the enemy spellcaster was soaking up the attack spells that he and the other wizards were casting. Since the wizards that cast the defensive spells started retreating, that meant that every mage there would need to depend on their selves for their defense, so Anton had to utilize his Teleport skills to avoid enemy spells.
