My Favorite Game Followed Me!-Chapter 644
Chapter 644
The sun had set in the west, but the undead horde’s attack did not stop. Anton would have liked to say that the forces of the three kingdoms had whittled down the undead armies significantly, but that was simply a lie. The fact was, the enemy spellcasters were powerful enough to mitigate most of the damage that the wizards on their side cast towards the undead monsters.
The frontline kept getting pushed back, but it was slow enough that the effort of the defensive line that consisted of wizards and warriors from Ormunda, New Drennor, and the remnant forces of Mendoza was justified in their efforts to not stop casting their spells against the undead horde.
Thankfully, some other wizards were responsible for flooding the fields with light spells so that they could see their battle against the undead. Anton could see the efforts of the enemy spellcasters in dispelling the light spells since the dark was a huge advantage for them, but the wizards on their side just kept casting the light spells. The simple spell was one of the basics, so it was effortless to maintain it.
Unlike other wizards, Anton had been fighting the undead for two straight days without doing any significant rest. The only rest that he did was to acquire sustenance and answer the call of nature. His Vigor Aura was enough for Anton to fight without any sleep. He wondered how long he could function without sleep, surviving with just his Vigor Aura.
For now, Anton did not feel any sort of negative buff from lack of sleep, so he kept on going. Besides, he was not stubbornly idiotic enough to keep fighting when his body started to crave sleep. The defense system that was in place was now organized enough that it was fine for wizards to rest.
Because of his unique magical stamina, Anton’s name was becoming well-known. According to Captain Nando, some wizards had given him the title “The Infinite” because of his ability to cast spells nonstop. It amused Anton, and he thought that it was cool that he earned himself a title. He did not know if he would receive negative attention for having that kind of title, even if it was informal. The fact was, all of them could only briefly talk of inconsequential things like someone earning a title, because most of their attention was on the battle against the undead.
At first, Captain Nando wanted to share numbers with Anton, like how many wizards and warriors had already died or how much of the undead horde they had whittled away, but Anton told his captain that he did not want to know and that he would just focus on casting his spells against the undead horde.
For the next three days, Anton, together with the forces of the three kingdoms, kept battling the incoming undead tsunami. They want to make sure that once the Undead Coalition’s forces managed to reach the vicinity of New Drennor, they would have at least whittled a large percentage of the undead army. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
One depressing news that Captain Nando had shared with Anton was that the Coalition managed to create portals that led to Rendindura in that village that the three kingdoms had turned into a fortified camp. That meant that the undead forces would not decrease but would increase instead.
Anton had no choice but to put that kind of information at the very back of his mind. He had accepted that his life would be an endless battle against the undead. He would fight until there was nothing left in him.
He wanted to live in a good place as a living being, not an undead lich. He wanted to share movies, anime, cartoons, manga, and novels with friends that he would meet in the future, and then, after that, maybe entice the kingdoms of this world to create their own movies and the rest using magic. Then maybe someday, a gate could be opened by him or a powerful wizard from this world that would lead to Earth, and then they could exchange culture with Earth.
It was such a nice dream that could only start if there were no enemies like the Undead Coalition, with a goal of either conquering all kingdoms of this world so they could have unlimited food or maybe turning everyone into undead. The fact was, Anton really did not know what the goal of the Undead Coalition was, but the fact was, they were his enemy, and he would not be happy under their rule.
After six days of nonstop fighting, Anton had reached his limit. Because he was making several mistakes, he knew that it was time for him to get some sleep. He immediately teleported back until he reached the middle of the temporary camps that the three kingdoms had established. Thankfully, Captain Nando found him.
“Captain, I finally need to sleep. Can you find me a safe space where I can sleep?” Anton asked his captain.
Captain Nando led him to a tent. Anton saw that the inside was luxurious enough, so after cleaning himself thoroughly using a Cleaning spell, he set up his Pearl of the Ocean, then set up an alarm that would sound after five hours, then he immediately lay down on the comfortable sleeping bag.
Anton heard the alarm that he had set up, and when he woke up, he felt like he had slept for 12 hours. He remembered that previously, he had examined the Pearl of the Ocean, wanting to know how it worked, thinking that maybe he could copy it, but its mana structure was extremely complex and was beyond him during the time he examined it. The Pearl gathers ambient mana and sends it to any nearby living being sleeping within its area. Anton assumed that the mana that the pearl had gathered was converted to become some sort of mana that was capable of renewing the body and mind of the one sleeping near it.
Anton was thankful for the Pearl of the Ocean’s ability to allow him to have restful sleep in a very short time. After cleaning himself, he tried to find Captain Nando, but he was not nearby, so what he did next was report to a nearby wizard that he would be going back to the frontline. The wizard just replied that he would report it to someone, so it would be noted down. He then flew towards the frontline and started fighting again. The only downside was that Anton could not level up his character, and he knew that the ladder season would probably end without him completing the last characters that he needed to level up.
After several hours of fighting, he teleported back into the temporary camps that kept being moved back so he could eat and relieve himself. Captain Nando found him.
“You’re back in the frontline already? How long did you sleep?” Nando asked.
“Five hours. I have a magic item that allows me to have a full rest in a short time.”
Captain Nando just shook his head and returned to whatever he was doing. After he was done with his short break, Anton went back into the front line to continue casting his spells against the undead. He ignored the fact that what they were doing seemed futile and felt like they were just wasting time. That maybe it would have been best for everyone to just rush to New Drennor so they could set up an effective defense against the undead.
Anton did notice that the fight between the powerful semi-divine beings from both sides stops and starts several times already. What usually happened was, their fight would start, then a semi-divine lich or vampire would attack some lower-level wizards on their side, then the semi-divine wizards on their side would appear to fight it out with them. Their fight would continue for several hours, then would stop. Rinse and repeat. Anton could do nothing but shake his head and continue casting his spells against the enemy.
