My Favorite Game Followed Me!-Chapter 646
Chapter 646
Anton and everyone else, for that matter, reached the Port Kingdom of New Drennor after several hours of travel. Based on his very subjective calculations, if one traveled from where they were at using horses, it would have probably taken them a week, give or take several days, before they reached the said kingdom.
He saw that New Drennor had taken steps to make sure that their kingdom was well prepared to defend itself against the undead horde.
“There are several semi-divine and divine rank wizards stationed in New Drennor from the three kingdoms,” Captain Nando told Anton.
“What’s our next step?” Anton asked.
“Nothing. Everyone who’s part of the defense in the fortified kingdom is dismissed and would need to report to an officer of the army to be relisted and assigned. You don’t need to worry about your reward for joining the battle; your battle credits have been listed under your name. You will have to wait to receive your reward, though, after the battle.”
Anton just shrugged. When he joined the fight against the Undead Coalition, he did not expect to receive any payment. He joined because he wanted to fight the undead, not for any pay, since if he truly needed coins, he would just delve into a dungeon.
Because of the sudden freedom that he received, Anton decided to explore the kingdom of New Drennor. After walking towards where he thought the harbor would be, he noticed that just like Mendoza, the citizens of New Drennor behaved as if they did not care whether the Undead Coalition was threatening their kingdom. He also noticed that the citizens of Ormunda were the same, but at least the Undead Horde was very far from Ormunda, where the armies of the Undead Coalition would probably arrive at their gates in the next several days.
After walking for several hours, he reached what he thought might be deep inside the kingdom of New Drennor. He saw that the kingdom's citizens were living their lives normally.
Anton decided to take a vacation and do the same thing. He would treat himself as a tourist and explore New Drennor. He could join the fight anytime since he was sure that New Drennor’s situation would not change with his presence. Of course, his resolve was still the same when it came to fighting the undead, but a few days' vacation would not hurt.
The first thing he needed to do was to rent a room at an inn for his base of operations. Once he was inside his room, he would portal back to the Rose Manor to make sure that everyone would be aware that he was doing fine, then he would return to New Drennor for his vacation.
Anton suddenly felt excited and realized that he needed this vacation. He had been very busy for the past several weeks, either fighting the undead or leveling up his characters inside his Diablo II system. He suddenly wanted a few days to unwind, and an adventure in the magnificent port kingdom of New Drennor was a good place to do it.
The kingdom of New Drennor was a truly magnificent port kingdom. The kingdom would be able to rival the imagination of artists and authors, depicting a fantasy kingdom. Its sprawling buildings were like different gleaming jewels under the sun and the sapphire ocean that one could see in the distance, framing the kingdom as if it were a brooch made of different colored jewels that was created in the middle of a huge sapphire gem.

The streets were filled with shops selling all kinds of things, both mundane and magical. The clothes that the people were wearing were a hodgepodge of different cultures, which was a symbol of a port kingdom since trade from different places was usually the lifeblood of such cities and kingdoms.
The languages that were spoken by the people were also a mixture of languages from different places. Anton had never encountered issues with communication because most people would speak the most common language in this world, which was simply called “common”, but now, he finally heard examples of different languages.
Anton had to admit that over the last few months, he was slowly developing a fatalistic attitude, which came from his worries about fighting the Undead Coalition, but New Drennor brought home the fact that he was in another world. A world filled with magic and adventure, and Anton’s blood started to boil again.
Anton’s clothes were fairly high-class mage robes, but in the middle of the sprawling kingdom of New Drennor, his clothes looked common, and he preferred it that way because he could join the common crowd without anyone treating him anyone special.
He spent several hours browsing the shops. He looked at the items that the people were selling, both the magical and the normal ones. Since he had a lot of coins with him, he just bought anything that caught his fancy.
Anton bought sandals, towels, jewelry made of shells, hats, umbrellas, different kinds of clothing from different cultures, and more. He did not even bother to haggle and just bought the items at the initial price that the merchants said, which made the merchants look disappointed somehow. Anton had read somewhere that merchants in a place like New Drennor were business warriors. They were prepared to engage in a long battle of haggling with their customers, and Anton was someone who did not even fight.
He was thankful that he did not have to carry shopping bags and just directly store everything that he bought directly in his inventory. By the time the sun was setting, Anton was wearing a different set of clothes. He was still wearing his Diablo II items inside his clothes, though.
Anton was walking around trying to find an inn or a hotel where he could stay when he felt hands on him. Because of his powerful stats, he managed to catch the hands of his would-be pickpocket. It was futile for them to try picking his pockets since all of his belongings were inside his inventory.
“Let go! Let go!” the pickpocket shouted.
The kid was wearing some sort of dirty clothes reminiscent of Aladdin, that Anton almost laughed out loud. Based on the reaction of the pedestrians nearby, which was to stare at them for a few seconds, then ignore them to continue with whatever they were doing, this sort of incident was common.
Anton let go of the pickpocket but held him in place using his Telekinesis spell. The kid looked horrified when he could not move. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
“Are you... are you a wizard, sir?” the kid asked, and Anton simply nodded.
The kid started crying, and when Anton let go of the pickpocket, the kid kneeled.
“Please don’t kill me, Sir Wizard, I didn't know that you’re a mage,” The kid sobbed.
“Stop crying! Let’s talk. Do you know any nearby restaurants?” Anton asked the kid.
The pickpocket nodded and led Anton to a nearby restaurant. Based on what he could see, the kid did not have any intention to run.
One of the waiters led them to a table. The kid whispered to the waiter that Anton was a mage, so the waiter was respectful. Anton told the pickpocket to sit.
“What’s your name?”
“My name is Davinio.”
“I assume you’re extremely familiar with New Drennor. I’m new here and I need a guide. Can I hire you to be my guide? I’ll pay the ongoing rate,” Anton told the kid.
Anton was a little surprised at the kid’s reaction. Davinio’s eyes grew wide, and his face was suddenly filled with excitement. The kid suddenly started spewing boastful sentences nonstop. Things like Anton wouldn’t find anyone more knowledgeable about the kingdom, and he knew even the most obscure places. The kid only stopped when their food arrived, and for the next several minutes, the two started eating as if they were starving ghosts.
