My five ghostly husbands-Chapter 209 Are you making him cry?!
Chapter 209: Chapter 209 Are you making him cry?!
Ruby stood near the mannequin, her arms crossed, her red eyes fixed on the one remaining robe that hadn’t been sold since the first day of the fair.
Everything else was gone.
All the robes had been bought out, people had fought over the last few pieces yet this one remained untouched.
A deep, elegant red, embroidered with delicate golden threads.
It was beautiful.
So why wasn’t it selling?
She frowned, tapping her fingers against the counter.
It wasn’t just this robe that was bothering her.
It was the fact that she barely had any stock left.
Rowan and Eilas were working hard, but even if they rushed, they couldn’t magically produce dozens of robes overnight.
And that meant...
She would have to close her shop on the third day.
A deep sigh escaped her lips.
She hated the thought of it.
Just when things were going well, just when people were recognizing her brand, she was already hitting a wall.
Late at night, Ruby sat in her room, coins spread out on the floor in front of her.
Her fingers moved swiftly, stacking and counting them with sharp precision.
"100... 200... 400... 429 coins."
She let out a slow breath.
That meant her total profit so far was around 1,130 coins.
It was a good amount.
More than she had expected.
And yet...
Her smile faded slightly as she began mentally converting the coins into gem value.
150 gems.
That was it.
She frowned.
It wasn’t bad but compared to her work as an video editor, it wasn’t much either.
She had spent days preparing everything, handling customers, managing stock, and dealing with stress.
And the result?
It was less than what she could earn while sitting comfortably and editing footage.
It was a harsh realization.
Business was unpredictable.
Unlike Video editing, where she had a fixed salary, selling robes depended on customers, market trends, and supply.
Ruby reclined with her palms pressed against the floor, her gaze fixed on the ceiling as she lost herself in contemplation.
If she had priced her robes at higher rates..perhaps 20 coins or more..her profits would have been much better.
But at the same time...
She knew that if she raised the price too high, normal people wouldn’t be able to afford them.
Her business had grown fast because she had kept the prices fair.
She could charge rich customers more, but what about the common buyers?
She sighed, rubbing her temples.
There was a delicate balance to maintain.
Her robes needed to feel valuable.
Expensive but not unattainable.
For now, she would keep the price steady.
But after the festival?
She would find a way to make her brand even more exclusive.
Because if she wanted to turn this into a long-term success, she had to think beyond just festival sales.
Despite everything, Ruby wasn’t discouraged.
The numbers weren’t perfect, but they were just the beginning.
This fair had proven something important, her robes had potential.
Once her designs entered the market trend, once people started talking about ORA as a brand, the profits would naturally grow.
Even at 15 coins per robe, if thousands of people started buying, she wouldn’t have to worry about making money, it would flow in effortlessly.
And this festival?
It had already shown her how successful this business could be.
She leaned forward, tapping her fingers thoughtfully against the wooden floor.
Her next move?
First Find land.
A shop was good, but if she wanted to expand, she needed a proper workspace.
Somewhere she could store fabrics, hire tailors, and operate like a real business.
Second Find merchants.
Right now, she was selling directly to customers.
But if she found big merchants willing to buy in bulk?
She could sell large quantities at once at a higher price without worrying about day-to-day sales.
That meant more stability, less risk.
Third Buy a computer.
This was her personal goal.
With enough money, she could finally buy a proper computer.
Her lips curled into a small, determined smile.
She was going to make this happen.
This festival had only been the start.
By next year?
Her business wouldn’t just be a small fair shop.
It would be an empire.
****
The morning was quiet but steady.
Rowan and Eilas had only managed to find one additional worker, and together, they had produced just 18 robes.
It wasn’t much, but considering the circumstances, it was still good enough.
Today, Ruby was running the shop alone.
Julian, Adrian, and Milo had stayed home.
Karl, as usual, was lounging at the shop, his big baby blue eyes lazily staring outside, completely unaware of how pretty he looked doing nothing.
Then, suddenly—
A new customer stepped inside.
Ruby’s eyes flickered up, immediately taking note of his appearance.
He was wearing a mask, covering most of his face. His head was also deeply hidden under a hood, making it impossible to see anything except his striking blue eyes.
Those eyes...
They were sharp. Watchful. Curious.
His gaze scanned the shop briefly before landing on something.
The red robe.
The one that hadn’t sold for days.
His voice was smooth but low when he spoke. "Hey. How much for this robe?"
Ruby, who had already decided to keep her answers firm and confident, responded without hesitation.
"Fifteen coins."
She expected him to bargain.
To say it was too expensive.
To ask for a lower price like some others had.
But instead, the man paused.
His blue eyes flickered to her, filled with something unreadable.
For a moment, he just stared at her, as if trying to figure her out.
Ruby didn’t break eye contact.
She had dealt with enough customers to know...whoever blinked first, lost.
Then, after a moment of silence—
"Alright. Pack it for me."
Ruby raised a brow slightly.
That was... easy.
Still, business was business.
As she moved to fold the robe neatly, she noticed something odd—
The ghost’s ears.
They were red.
A deep, flushed red.
As if he was nervous.
But... why?
Before Ruby could think too much, the ghost’s eyes suddenly shifted to Karl.
Karl, who was still staring out of the shop, completely unaware.
The customer’s gaze lingered.
He seemed hesitant.
Then, his lips parted, as if he wanted to say something.
But in the end, he stayed quiet.
He simply turned back to Ruby, pulled out fifteen coins, and placed them on the counter.
She handed him the neatly wrapped robe and with that, he left without another word.
The moment the shop fell silent again, Ruby leaned back slightly, tapping her fingers against the counter.
Weird.
This was the only robe that had been ignored by every single customer until now.
Yet, the first person to buy it...
First Didn’t bargain.
Second Acted strangely nervous.
Third Paid immediately without questioning the price.
Forth Looked at Karl in a way that felt... off.
Something about it didn’t sit right.
But at the same time...
A sale was a sale.
And now, the red robe was gone.
Ruby leaned against the counter, her fingers still absentmindedly tapping the wood as she thought about the masked customer.
She turned to Karl, who was sprawled lazily on the chair nearby, looking exhausted.
"That one customer was weird," she said, finally voicing her thoughts.
Karl, however, wasn’t really listening.
His arms were folded behind his head, his big blue eyes half-lidded from tiredness.
This job wasn’t as fun as he had imagined.
At first, he thought it would be all about posing, looking elegant, and basking in attention.
And sure, he had gotten plenty of admiration—people had stared, whispered about how beautiful he was, and even bought robes just because of him.
But standing around all day, dealing with people, and pretending to be interested in sales?
It was exhausting.
He had a newfound respect for shopkeepers now.
But still, there was one thing that made it worth it.
The constant reminder that he was, in fact, incredibly pretty.
He had always known this, of course.
But seeing it through other people’s eyes?
Hearing witches whisper about his blue eyes, watching ghosts steal glances at him?
Ah... confirmation was always nice.
He sighed dramatically, shifting in his seat. "Wife, I’m too tired to care about weird customers right now. Let’s talk about how I suffered today instead."
Ruby rolled her eyes, amused.
"You suffered? You literally sat there and looked pretty."
Karl pouted. "Exactly! Do you know how hard it is to maintain this level of attractiveness all day? It’s exhausting."
Ruby chuckled, shaking her head.
Karl let out a deep, dramatic sigh, his baby blue eyes shimmering with emotion.
He pressed a hand to his chest, his lips pouting slightly, as if the weight of the world had finally crushed him.
"Can you understand! I have suffered so much hardship because of you, wife!" he declared, his voice filled with tragic sadness.
Ruby raised an eyebrow, already sensing where this was going.
Karl clutched his sleeves, looking devastated.
"Don’t you even once think about taking me to the fair?!" he added, his voice trembling slightly, as if he had been neglected for years.
Before Ruby could even respond, a random witch customer gasped dramatically.
"Oh my god! Are you making him cry?!" she asked, looking at Ruby as if she were a villain in a tragic love story.
