My five ghostly husbands-Chapter 210 Kiss
Chapter 210: Chapter 210 Kiss
"Oh my god! Are you making him cry?!" she asked, looking at Ruby as if she were a villain in a tragic love story.
Ruby’s lips twitched.
She slowly turned to Karl.
He wasn’t even crying.
Not a single tear had fallen.
"Where do you see him crying?" she asked flatly.
The witch pointed at Karl, her face full of sympathy, but just as she was about to continue speaking—
She froze.
Karl wasn’t crying.
Not at all.
He was simply looking at her with his naturally moist, glassy eyes, which, under the right light, made him appear like he was on the verge of tears.
Karl, realizing the situation, rubbed his eyes gently, making them glisten even more.
Then, with a calm, apologetic smile, he said, "Ah... sorry, miss. I just have naturally moist and watery eyes."
And at that moment—
The witch’s expression changed completely.
Her eyes turned heart-shaped, her face glowing with admiration.
"Miss! If you’re done, you can leave me and my husband!" Ruby said with a fake smile, her voice sharp as she stared coldly at the witch.
The customer blinked, looking slightly startled by Ruby’s tone, but she wasn’t ready to back down just yet. Her eyes flickered toward Karl again, as if unwilling to look away from his face.
Ruby felt something burn in her chest, something unfamiliar but strong enough to make her jaw clench.
Karl, sensing the sudden change in Ruby’s mood, offered the customer a polite smile, probably to soften the tension.
But that only made it worse.
Ruby’s fists curled tightly, her jaw locking as she struggled to keep her emotions in check. Why was he smiling at her? Wasn’t it enough that the witch had already looked at him like he was some kind of celestial being?
The customer finally nodded and left, though she kept glancing back, sneaking one last look at Karl before disappearing into the crowd.
For the rest of the day, Ruby sulked, unable to shake off the irritation lingering inside her. It wasn’t just the customer—it was the way Karl had smiled at her, the way she had looked at him, the way she had practically melted right there in the shop.
No matter how much she tried to focus on work, her mind kept drifting back to that moment.
By the time night fell, the streets were quieter, bathed in the eerie glow of the red-tinted sky. The moon was only half-full tonight, casting long shadows as Ruby walked beside Karl on their way home.
The cool breeze brushed against her skin, but she barely felt it. Her head was too full of unspoken frustration.
Karl, on the other hand, had noticed her mood long ago. He had let it slide for hours, but now, as they walked in silence, he finally spoke.
"Why are you angry all day?" he asked, his voice light, but his blue eyes keenly watching her. Under the night’s glow, his pale skin almost shining, making him look even more unreal.
Ruby quickened her steps. "Nothing," she muttered.
Karl narrowed his eyes and poked her left arm. "Tell me."
"I don’t know," Ruby replied, her voice clipped, her pace still fast.
Karl clicked his tongue, stepping closer. "What do you mean you don’t know? Are you mad because that customer said you made me cry? You’ve been sulking ever since then. She was just being cari—"
His words never finished.
Ruby suddenly turned around, her right hand snapping over his mouth, silencing him.
Her other hand grabbed his wrist, pulling his arm behind his back, locking him in place.
Karl’s eyes widened in shock.
The night air felt heavier.
Her expression was tight, unreadable, but her red eyes burned with something intense.
"One more word," she said, her voice dangerously low.
Karl swallowed, his heart pounding against his ribs.
Ruby had never looked at him like this before.
"And I will make your mouth shut... with something else," Ruby murmured, her voice low, filled with something unspoken.
Karl’s muffled voice came through her palm. "What—what?"
Seeing that she wasn’t letting go, he did the first thing that came to mind..he licked her palm.
Ruby froze.
Her brain completely short-circuited.
She stared at him, her hand still covering his mouth, as he blinked up at her with innocent, mischievous blue eyes like a cat who knew exactly what he had done.
Something in her snapped.
Her thoughts blurred, and before she could even process what she was doing, her body moved on its own.
She grabbed him by the back of his head and pulled him closer..so close that their breath mingled in the cool night air.
And then she kissed him.
Hard.
Karl’s eyes widened in shock, his body stiffening for a moment as her lips crashed against his.
She didn’t give him a chance to react.
Her grip on his hair tightened, her fingers tangling into the soft strands as she tilted his head back slightly, deepening the kiss.
She was impatient, hungry, demanding.
Every bit of irritation, frustration, and unspoken emotions poured into the way her lips moved against his.
Karl’s mind went blank.
Ruby’s mind snapped back to reality like a whip.
Sh*t.
S*it!
What—what did she just do?!
She had never done this before. Never acted so out of control, never let herself go like this.
And yet she had kissed Karl.
Goodness.
Her heart thundered in her chest as panic crept into her veins.
Slowly, she opened her eyes, her breath still uneven.
And then, she saw him.
Karl’s eyes were still closed, his long, delicate eyelashes fluttering slightly, as if he were still processing what had just happened.
His lips..his soft, warm lips that she had just been devouring seconds ago were slightly parted, still tinged pink from the kiss.
His face was unreadable, almost too still.
Ruby’s throat went dry.
What the hell had she done?
Ruby jerked back, breaking the kiss as if she had just been burned.
Her breath was uneven, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
She licked her lips instinctively, and that’s when it hit her—his taste was still there.
