My Soul card is a Reaper-Chapter 939: The Emergence of Azazel (Part-4)
The man surnamed Ren was a Supreme being, wielding an obsidian glaive, floating in the air. The strongest man in the country has arrived. He was six feet tall, with a lean physique. Wearing a traditional Hanfu, flowing robes with layered fabrics, wide sleeves, and sashes, his long white flowing hair gave him almost the appearance of a man who doesn’t belong to this era.
He was, in fact, a normal kid who was unawakened 40 years ago, when Sun Clan elders were imprisoned for their role in alien invasion. With nothing in hand, he went on, giving up his clan and starting to live in the material world.
However, when he awakened the Emperor Qilin, a Top Tier Arcana spirit, his fate changed. He worked hard to become a Supreme Being in four decades. People would often rumor that he could become a demigod but chose not to break through in order to serve the society, although some opinioned that the path toward demigod has already been cut off two decades when an incident occured in level-5 region that saw the exterminatino of every Rank-10 monster back then (Azzy was behind this but only other hidden clans and some top organizations know.)
Back to the present, Ren Tianyu’s appearance brought hope to the Arcana Masters who are struggling to even survive. Even the fellow rank-9 Arcana masters couldn’t help but sigh in relief.
"Ren Tianyu," murmured Noel, looking at the man who slowly floated toward the Azazel.
"What should we do? Take the command and order us..." Gareth, sitting beside Noel, asked aloud.
Catching their words, Ren Tianyu cast a sidelong glance at Gareth and said, "The demon is mine. Help me communicate with others. I don’t want any intervention and tell everyone to just focus on evacuating this city. To defeat this enemy, I will have to go all out. Perhaps, half of the city will be destroyed by the time we are done."
Both of them nodded in unison, not arguing with him.
Meanwhile, from far above, on the balcony of Four Seasons, Alexander watched everything through his telescope. His expression turned a bit sour.
Alex couldn’t help but click his tongue, watching Ren Tianyu engaged with the Azazel in an equal battle. In fact, Ren Tianyu might be seen as having an upper edge, based on the fact that the Demonic giant armored being was showing cracks on its body with every attack from him, forcing Azazel to pour more of his energy to maintain it.
He lowered the glass slowly. "Tch... a pest has come in the end, trying to destroy my plans. I thought I would step in to become a hero, but it looked like it wouldn’t happen any time soon."
Setting the telescope aside, Alexander stood and inhaled deeply. "Fine, let’s snatch away my prey."
Acting right away, Alex leaped off the balcony. But instead of falling, he floated effortlessly into the air, soaring higher until the wind howled around him.
"Open Inventory."
Then, from his inventory, a brilliant, massive golden throne materialized, with thirty-two steps leading to its divine seat.
As soon as Alexander sat upon it, the Vikramaditya’s throne glowed. A hum filled the sky as divine energy enveloped him, molding into a towering divine armor that covered both his body and the throne. It shot a beam of golden light into the clouds, earning attention.
From the battlefield below, Azazel suddenly froze mid-attack. His burning red eyes flicked toward the west, capturing the presence of a divine pillar of light. "This... hateful presence... A celestial?"
The pressure around him intensified; his wings unfurled, and with a guttural snarl, he shoved away Ren Tianyu, who was about to attack its cracked armor with his fist.
Then, roaring like a beast from hell, Azazel charged toward the source of that divine light.
Every hunter, soldier, and civilian who could still stand turned to look. Far away in the crimson-tinted sky, they saw it — a radiant throne gleaming above the city, and upon it, a single man cloaked in gold.
"What... what is that...?" whispered one of the Rank-7 experts.
"A higher being has descended to deal with this demon...?" someone else murmured in awe.
Ren Tianyu furrowed his brows, staring at the scene. "A divine being? No... this feels like the power of an artifact."
Meanwhile, in one of the lower floors of the Four Seasons, Orion stood by the window with Kate, both silently waiting for the chaos outside to fade.
With the hotel being located so far away from the battlefield, both Kate and Orion seemed to be unaffected much.
However, suddenly, the air shifted as an overwhelming surge of energy pressed down from above, so heavy that even breathing became difficult. Kate gasped, clutching at her chest as a blinding golden light poured through the glass panes.
"W-What is this...?" she whispered in a trembling voice.
Before Orion could answer, another wave of raw power slammed through the room, this time, familiar, dark, and suffocating that they had been experiencing so faintly, except that the intensity had increased a hundred times. The contrast between the divine and demonic energies was so immense that even the walls began to crack.
*Kyaaa*
Kate, unable to stand the pressure, threw her arms around Orion, trembling in fear. The next instant, the ceiling lights shattered.
"Let’s go..." Orion said sharply.
Without hesitation, he grabbed her hand and sprinted toward the balcony doors instead of the main door. The moment he pushed them open, the storm of energy nearly blew them back inside. Still, he didn’t stop. Orion wrapped an arm around her waist and jumped.
Kate screamed. "Are you insane? We’re on the twenty-sixth floor..."
Her voice cut off when she felt no impact. Instead, she realized that they were flying.
Kate turned her head toward Orion, whose face was set in grim concentration with his eyes glowing faintly. His hand held her firmly as streaks of light trailed behind them.
As he was flying away, his gaze fell behind, right above their building, where two colossal forces loomed over the city.
One was the divine humanoid form, a radiant giant seated upon a throne, mimicking Alex and his throne, armored in celestial light, hovering high above the skyline.
Opposite him, surged the demonic titan with its skin wreathed in hell flames, wings tearing the clouds apart as it charged.
Orion’s expression hardened. "That throne... so, it was indeed a divine treasure, after all. Anyway, once I take her to safety, I need to join the battle."
Kate clung tighter to him, unable to look away from the approaching catastrophe.
And then, as the heavens trembled and the air itself split apart, the Azazel and the Divine finally met, unleashing a wave in the surroundings on their impact.
While a battle has just started in the sky above the Four Seasons hotel, at its foot, Selene, Luna, and Elise finally arrived at the scene filled with chaos and screams as the people around were running for their lives. The tremors in the air were growing heavier by the second with the auras generated by two giants above.
The three ladies stopped in unison when a familiar figure soared across the night sky at the same time, at a low altitude.
Luna’s eyes widened in recognition. She raised her hand and pointed upward."Look... it’s Orion..."
"Orion..." She shouted, but Orion continued to fly, not being able to hear her shout, which was drowned in the screams of the crowd. Selene followed her gaze, capturing the sight of Orion, who wasn’t just flying freely but also carrying Kate in his arms, cutting through the air with effortless control.
Elise narrowed her eyes, scanning the faint aura flickering around Orion’s body before he left her range. Taking a heavy breath, she further added. "Anyway, let’s chase after them and make him land somewhere safe. It wasn’t just the demon we had to worry about. Who knows what kind of villians are lurking around and looking for an opportunity..."
Selene nodded sharply in agreement, and the three of them leaped across the broken street, flying in the same direction Orion was flying toward.
Meanwhile, in order to talk to him, Selene pulled out her phone and dialed his number.
But before he could pick up the phone that was buzzing in his pockets, in the sky, the divine form seated upon the radiant throne raised its arm. From the opposite horizon, the demon lord’s colossal fist came crashing forward.
When the two collided, the shockwave that erupted was beyond a mere simple wave.
