Chapter 113: We’ll see each other again soon...

«What... what kind of dream is this?» Chantal murmurs faintly, collapsed in a pool of blood.

She’s dazed, her vision blurred from the brutal hit to her head.

Through her half-closed eyes, she barely sees the purple stormcloud fading.

Inside it, two bolts of lightning collide again and again—Raelos and Hakuto, moving so fast they appear as streaks of violet light flashing in the sky.

«I can’t believe that’s really Hakuto... If he actually beats that guy, I’ll look like a complete joke... I’m Chantal Carreaux! One day I’ll be the strongest Monster Reaper in the world. There’s no way I can just lie here while he takes all the credit!»

With effort, Chantal stands back up. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

She tries to focus her eyes, but quickly realizes there’s little she can do.

Hakuto and Raelos are fighting nearly a hundred meters above her.

Even with all her training in Blood Word Burst accuracy, the distance is simply too much—especially with how fast they’re moving.

«Ugh... this sucks...» she mutters, arms falling limply at her sides.

«D-Damn brat... take this!»

Raelos throws yet another lightning punch at Hakuto, hitting him square in the face. Hakuto retaliates with an identical strike, and the two are blasted apart.

The incubus breathes heavily.

His wounds still bleed endlessly.

Every second, his strength drains.

But Hakuto isn’t faring any better—maybe worse.

He’s running on fumes.

The pink fluid’s regeneration has slowed to a crawl—almost useless now.

Both struggle to stay airborne.

Around them, the sky trembles with thunder and bursts of blinding light.

«H-Hakuto Tendo... you’ve managed to piss me off more than anyone else ever has! You took my daughter from me, stole her power, and dared to wound me like no one before!»

Raelos spreads his arms wide.

Two spheres of blinding electric plasma ignite in his palms, each burning at nearly 10,000°C.

The effect is immediate: the atmosphere within hundreds of meters becomes toxic, ionized.

Electronics fry.

Matter begins to alter at a molecular level.

Only Hakuto and Chantal survive—he thanks to his armor, she due to the regeneration in her vampiric blood.

But it’s only a matter of seconds before even their bodies are atomized.

«From here... now that he’s holding still...» Chantal pants, raising her arm toward Raelos.

A terrifying scream of rage erupts from the incubus.

«If I have to die... then I’ll take you with me, Hakuto Tendo! I’ll erase you—and this entire continent!»

«Shit! Shit! Shit! What the hell is Raelos doing?! If he pulverizes those two hybrids too, it’ll take who knows how many centuries before someone with that kind of blood is born again! Cassian is not gonna be happy!»

Zhurvak shouts from a safe distance, out of range of the plasma spheres.

«I’ve got no choice but to root for the Monster Reapers! Come on, kids, stop him!»

With those words, one of the creature’s eyes vanishes, followed by the rest of its body dissolving into a yellow mist.

«Father... seeing you like this, ready to destroy half the world just because my heart belongs to someone else... you’re truly pathetic!»

The voice is Hakuto’s—but the words are Ana’s.

«My daughter... you’ve got some nerve talking to me like that after everything I’ve done for you! I gave you my best, tried to make you a strong woman, ready to stand by my side forever—but it was all a waste! You filthy slut, you’ll burn with your precious Soulmate!»

Raelos roars with all the hatred he can muster.

Tears fill Hakuto’s eyes—but even they belong to Ana.

«H-How... how can you say that to your own daughter?! WHAT KIND OF FATHER CALLS HIS DAUGHTER THAT AND CLAIMS TO LOVE HER?! While I was a slave to Velshekar, I cried every night for my mother and for you, Father! When her henchman raped me to awaken my powers early, the only thing I could think was, "Where’s Dad? Why isn’t he here to protect me? Mom said he’s still alive, then why is he letting this happen? Please, Dad, save me..." But what Velshekar and her men did to me is nothing compared to the pain you caused! You—who should’ve protected me with your life—are now ready to die just to give me one last wound! And yet... I’m ready to forgive you, Father. I believe one day we’ll meet again—you, me, and Mom. We’ll finally be the family I always dreamed of. I can’t wait to hug you again in the Realm of the Dead... and tell you how, despite everything, I still love you.»

Hakuto grips his sword tightly.

He points the blade at Raelos.

With a desperate scream, he spreads his wings and launches himself at the incubus, drawing on every last particle of energy within him.

Raelos says nothing... but his eyes glisten.

For the first time, they are sad, melancholic. As if Ana’s words—words she never said to him before—finally pierced the shell of cruelty and selfishness that bound his heart.

As if only now, standing at death’s edge, he realizes the pain he caused his daughter—struck by a sudden, unbearable wave of guilt.

But it’s too late.

A single tear rolls down Raelos’s cheek, while the two plasma spheres inch closer and closer.

He can no longer stop their collision.

Once they touch, they’ll unleash an energy so incomprehensible it will vaporize every trace of matter for thousands of kilometers—destroying Europe, North Africa, and Western Asia in an instant, and triggering long-term catastrophes across the planet.

But just before impact...

–WOOOM!

A crimson energy beam slices off one of Raelos’s arms at the elbow.

The plasma sphere in that hand vanishes instantly, along with the cataclysmic force it held.

The air becomes more breathable again.

«You’re amazing, Chantal!» Hakuto shouts in his own voice.

«I know... now go finish him!» she replies, flashing a thumbs-up before collapsing to her knees, drained.

Blood sprays from Raelos’s wound.

He screams in agony—but doesn’t resist.

He doesn’t even try to stop Hakuto’s blade as it pierces straight through his chest.

More blood erupts from his body and mouth.

«A-Ana...» Raelos murmurs faintly.

At that name, Hakuto’s expression shifts dramatically—anguish and tears flood his face once again.

«Father...» he whispers, though the voice is still Ana’s.

«Ana... because of the immense magical power you were born with, I always saw you as the key to the strength your Soulmate now holds... Saying I’m sorry now would just be an empty, pathetic phrase. After all, I’ve always been a selfish, ambitious incubus, and that doesn’t change just because I’m dying. Believe me—if I could, I would kill your Soulmate right now and take you back as mine without hesitation... And yet... I ask for your forgiveness, my daughter. Don’t think I was blind to your pain. But I know that my thirst for power was stronger than the love I felt for you. I’ve been a terrible father—and the worst part is, I knew it even as I kept hurting you. That’s why... I’m sorry. If the Ruler of the Underworld allows us to meet again in the Realm of the Dead, I pray he purifies me of this darkness... so I can spend eternity with you and Esmeralda. I truly hope so... with all my heart. We’ll see each other again soon, my beloved Ana...»

A moment later, Raelos exhales his last breath.
