Chapter 45: Stalling for Time

Ten days passed, and Grenda, who was watching the prince eat his food normally, couldn’t help but feel doubt slowly creeping in.

Why did the prince still seem to be the picture of health, and was even training with the sword, as if nothing had happened to him?

She wondered silently, but couldn’t arrive at any answer.

When Ellis went away with Silas to the training ground, Grenda remained standing in her place, still lost in thought, trying to figure out how to solve the problem.

That was when Brunna, who had actually been thinking the same thing, suddenly said from her side, "We need to give our report in two days, but the prince still doesn’t show any sign of weakening or poisoning."

"What should we say?"

Hearing those words, Grenda instantly snapped back to reality and replied, "We won’t tell them anything... we’ll just say that everything is going smoothly. And we’ll increase the dose of the poison we’re putting in his food."

’But... would that really be enough?’ Grenda wondered, as she increasingly felt that something about this prince was not right.

And that everyone had already been deceived by him.

...

On the other hand, Ellis, who was actually training with Silas this time, was surprised to find that Silas’s swordsmanship was a lot more refined than he had thought.

He had initially believed that he would have to train his swordsmanship alone after Galen stopped coming, so he was pleasantly surprised that Silas was actually able to teach him.

Ellis continued training with Silas on the training ground, but a small part of his mind wandered elsewhere.

He considered that perhaps it was time to pause his swordsmanship training, much like he had done with his Mana Bullet skill.

The maids had already grown suspicious, and there was no need to further arouse their doubts.

Now that he knew there was no one else coming to this palace except them, and that the things they had said when they first arrived had actually been lies, he felt that it was best to keep things as they were.

If they were to report that nothing had happened to him, more people would probably show up. They were stalling for time until he died, and he was stalling for time until he turned five. So, the current situation was just fine.

As for the increase in poison? He didn’t mind at all!

He had been consuming this poison for ten days, and let alone developing a poison resistance skill, he hadn’t even felt anything at all.

While he was lost in these thoughts, the training continued. And after some time had passed, it finally came to an end.

Unlike when he first started ten months ago, Ellis was not exhausted to the point of sprawling on the ground. He still had plenty of energy to continue if he so desired.

But he had set aside a certain amount of time for swordsmanship, and he didn’t plan to exceed it.

So, he finally returned inside. He went along with Silas toward the bath, and along the way, he couldn’t help but glance at her.

She was dressed in a practical set of fitted pants and a snug shirt, her black hair pulled back into a neat ponytail that revealed the elegant curve of her neck.

The outfit, so unlike her usual maid uniform, hugged her figure more closely, accentuating her curves and giving her a cooler, more confident vibe.

And Ellis, silently enjoyed the different charm she exuded in that moment, before finally arriving at his bathing chamber and stepping into the dressing room.

And then, he turned to Silas without saying anything more, after all, she knew what to do.

Her movements were gentle and practiced, her fingers working smoothly as she undressed him, making sure not to cause him any discomfort in the process.

It wasn’t the first time she had done this, and since long ago, Ellis felt no embarrassment at being naked in front of her.

But today, he didn’t step toward the bath right away. Instead, he stayed still, staring at her with interest.

She paused, hesitating just slightly, before speaking in a soft voice, "Master, it’s really not right for me to bathe with you. So... can’t you reconsider?"

Ellis just smiled. He didn’t need to answer. They’d had this conversation more than once over the past ten days, after all, and his answer was always the same.

Had it been about her feeling uncomfortable bathing with him, he would have naturally backed down without question. But that wasn’t her reason.

It was about how she as a maid, couldn’t possibly use the same luxurious bath as him.

So, how can he listen to this nonsense?

Most importantly. They were already sharing the same bed, after all. There wasn’t a night that passed without his hands fondling her soft breasts or kissing her... so why was everything else fine, but not this bath?

In the end, Silas didn’t say anything more and just began undressing herself.

Her large breasts, once freed from the tight confinement of her clothes, bounced softly in front of Ellis’s eyes.

She slowly graced him with her nakedness, and Ellis naturally feasted his eyes on her.

Only then did they finally step into the bath together.

Silas knelt beside him and began to wash him, her hands warm and smooth, working soap over his shoulders and chest. And Ellis naturally didn’t stay obediently still while she did that. He reached for her, cupping her breasts, running his fingers across her smooth skin.

She gave soft, involuntary moans at his touch, her breath catching just a little each time he teased her.

And when he noticed a faint, glistening wetness between her thighs, he couldn’t help but wonder... was it her arousal, or merely the water from the bath splashing between her legs?

But, he didn’t find the answer. And soon, he was submerged in the bathwater, his body relaxed in the heat.

Silas sat behind him, her bare form pressed close. Her skin was as hot as the water, if not more.

And he leaned back into her, using her breasts as a pillow.

In that moment, he couldn’t help but think... that this is life.
