Chapter 46: Two Months Later

Waking up from his sleep, Ellis groggily stared at Silas, who was lying beside him... at her gentle eyes watching him, as she said, "Good morning, master."

Ellis rubbed his eyes, as he replied to her, "Good morning..."

Before suddenly adding, "You’re up early again."

She always seemed to sleep later than him, and yet would still wake up earlier.

So, at that moment, Ellis couldn’t help but wonder if he was being lazy somehow... even though he was certain that wasn’t the case.

In the end, he stopped thinking about it and was simply thankful that she no longer got up before him.

Now that they had started sleeping together, he didn’t like waking up alone, after all.

Ellis leaned in and caught her lips, he gave her their morning kiss, before finally rising from the bed together.

After freshening up, he sat back down on his bed and began his morning training.

He was alone this time, as Silas had gone to prepare his breakfast along with the other two maids.

Even so, he had no intention of going out to the dining room. His fifth birthday was only a week away now, and Ellis had long since stopped leaving his room.

He couldn’t be bothered to pretend to be weak and patient, but he still stayed in his room so that those two maids would have something to report to the head maid.

He even let them in while he ate, letting them watch how he consumed the poisoned food they prepared.

And speaking of that, now, after more than two months of consuming poison, he had finally acquired the Poison Resistance skill.

Not only that, he was still leveling it up!

And his progress hadn’t stopped just because he remained in his room. He was steadily developing all of his other skills, aside from Swordsmanship and Mana Bullet.

His mana was gradually rising toward C rank, and even his constitution was now on the verge of ranking up.

Was that all that had happened during these two months?

Hardly!

Silas, who had wanted to hide the fact that she was now fully healed, ended up listening to his words and didn’t bother concealing it ant all.

She trained openly, and would even head to the training ground alone whenever he stayed in his room.

She, who was a First Rank Aura Knight after recovering... had now advanced to the Second Rank.

Perhaps it was due to the strain her body had endured during her injury, and now that she was healed, things become easier for her.

Her growth was noticeably fast, even if it was still in the early stages!

And naturally, Ellis was happy for her. Silas being strong, and no longer powerless, was always better, after all, especially in their current situation, where the queen was targeting him.

Yes, the queen!

During these two months, Ellis had discovered that the one behind the head maid was none other than the queen herself, the mother of the first prince.

She was the one who wanted his demise.

Why? That, he still hadn’t found out.

Was his mother the reason?

What was her current situation?

Unfortunately, he hadn’t learned that either.

But he felt that, soon, he would have to uncover the truth behind everything. And besides, this situation... couldn’t possibly continue much longer.

While Ellis thought about many things, especially now, with his birthday approaching, he still continued with his daily training.

... And before he knew it, breakfast had finally arrived.

Ellis ate his food, while being stared at by the three maids, like always. But he didn’t feel uncomfortable because of it. He just ate as usual, calmly and unbothered.

The silence stretched on as he ate, and the two maids, Brunna and Grenda, both kept glancing at him with visible nervousness.

He was the one consuming poison, and yet, the complete lack of any reaction, the absence of the outcome they were hoping for, seemed to wear down their very nerves.

They had already stalled for over a month, claiming, "He is bedridden," despite how energetic and healthy he clearly looked.

So naturally, once this lie was exposed, consequences would follow. And those consequences were drawing ever closer.

As they silently panicked, sweating over what they should do next, especially after switching the poison to a more lethal kind, which still didn’t bring results, Ellis calmly finished his meal.

And in the end, they had no choice but to collect the plates and utensils and leave the room.

Grenda, by this point, was certain something was wrong with this prince. Her thoughts were consumed by how she might find a way out of this mess... a way to save herself.

But Brunna didn’t share the same thoughts.

She was still focused on how she might overcome this growing problem... on how to make the situation work in her favor.

So, while each had her own thoughts, time continued to pass. By the afternoon, however, they were both surprised to find that the head maid herself had suddenly come to visit.

She had come to see everything with her own eyes.

Grenda, not particularly bothered by her arrival, simply followed along as usual.

She and Brunna did everything as they always did, carrying out their routine right in front of the head maid.

And by the end of the day, the head maid was forced to return to the main palace, her expression unreadable, as even she didn’t seem to know what to make of the situation anymore.

As they watched the carriage carrying the head maid disappear down the path, Grenda glanced at her colleague and suddenly said, "By the head maid’s reaction, it seems like our stay here should end soon."

Was it because the prince finally looked like he would draw his last breath?

Absolutely not.

It was simply that the pressure on the head maid seemed to have increased, and she could no longer afford to concern herself with this abandoned prince.

So then... what was going on in the main palace right now?
