Chapter 110: The Simplest Way to Solve the Problem
Ryosuke's wet, wrinkled body had completely recovered.
After drying off, he retrieved a fresh set of clothes from a sealed scroll and got dressed.
Once he made it onto the island, he drank fresh water and picked a few wild fruits to eat. The exhaustion and nausea that followed his trek across the sea finally began to fade.
Now, perched on a thick branch of a centuries-old tree, Ryosuke looked refreshed. He bit into an apple, leaning back against the trunk as he calmly gazed into the dense, shadowy forest ahead.
But what he truly saw was more than just a stretch of trees—his vision extended far across the Land of Waves, thanks to his Byakugan.
He didn't dare to openly observe the perceptive jonin and seasoned ninja scattered across the area. Instead, he carefully extended his observational range, sweeping across different camps to roughly estimate the number and positions of each faction present.
At the same time, he made sure there were no hidden enemies lurking near the alliance's perimeter.
"If I were the enemy... what would I do?"
Ryosuke silently mulled over the situation, attempting to think like the saboteur.
From the pattern of the attacks, it was clear that only Konoha, the Sand Village, and the Land of Bears teams had been targeted. This implied that the enemy lacked the manpower and coordination to launch simultaneous strikes on all teams.
Konoha, notably, had suffered no casualties and even wiped out all attackers. In contrast, the other two teams achieved bitter victories at a steep cost.
To outsiders, it painted a suspicious picture. It almost looked like Konoha had staged the attacks for political leverage.
However, that kind of framing—casting suspicion—was unlikely to be enough to fracture the alliance.
"So..."
Ryosuke's eyes narrowed as he spoke softly to himself:
"If you want to solve a problem... then eliminate the person who caused it."
That was the most straightforward, brutal way a ninja would think.
If Ryosuke had been the one orchestrating this sabotage, he would've chosen a different, more refined strategy. But he wasn't the one behind this plot—so he had to think like someone else.
And if they truly were thinking like that...
Ryosuke's gaze slowly swept past the different national camps—then locked onto the center of the island.
Without hesitation, he let himself fall backward off the branch.
It looked like he'd lost his balance, tumbling headfirst toward the ground. But just before he hit the earth, Ryosuke twisted in midair like a spinning top, his toes brushing against the tree trunk before launching him forward diagonally.
With a burst of precise chakra at his feet, he accelerated sharply and vanished from the branch, streaking through the forest like a ghost.
In a matter of seconds, he'd already left the forest behind and was sprinting toward the heart of the Land of Waves.

Konoha's Temporary Camp
A Hyuga ninja stationed as a scout suddenly froze mid-scan.
Standing beside him, an Anbu ninja immediately noticed and took a defensive stance, scanning the surroundings with sharp eyes.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Ah... nothing. Just a rabbit," the Hyuga replied awkwardly, trying to sound casual.
"Which direction?"
The Anbu captain, cloaked in darkness and hidden until now, stepped forward at the sound of the disturbance. His voice was cold and calm, yet authoritative. "We can't afford mistakes. I'll send some men to investigate."
"That way," the Hyuga ninja replied, pointing to a random direction.
With a nod, several Anbu instantly disappeared into the shadows, darting off to the location he indicated. The captain also retreated back into the darkness.
Left alone again, the Hyuga ninja sighed in quiet frustration.
He had seen wild rabbits in that direction—but that wasn't what had startled him.
What really made him pause was seeing Lord Ryosuke, whom he had been secretly monitoring, suddenly break formation and move alone toward the island's center.
That worried him.
Unfortunately, Hyuga—the one designated for rotation—wasn't due to relieve him for a while. And with so many Anbu nearby, he couldn't afford to make any suspicious moves.
Ryosuke must not be exposed.
He took a deep breath, forcing down the anxiety in his chest, and watched silently as Ryosuke disappeared from his field of vision.
---
On the other side, Ryosuke moved with quiet precision.
After breaking free of the dense woods, he deliberately avoided approaching the Konoha camp head-on. Though he had relied on the Hyuga clan's support and his Byakugan to move freely behind the lines, trying to sneak past veteran jonin and chunin face-to-face would be reckless.
He knew his stealth had limits.
Instead, he circled around, approaching the central castle from the edge of the Land of Snow camp.
The Snow ninja had been hastily trained in recent years under their leader's orders. Their strength was mostly thanks to ninja tools—when it came to traditional skills, they were still lacking.
Ryosuke felt confident slipping past them.
And as expected, the Snow ninja—whether guards or scouts—noticed nothing. Even the leader himself had no idea Ryosuke had just passed through.
He made it all the way to the ancient castle with ease.
Inside, at the very top floor, Gato was currently preparing for the next alliance meeting. The three elite jonin he hired were stationed right beside him as bodyguards.
Other than them, the top floor was empty.
Ryosuke stayed hidden, observing closely.
The middle floor had been arranged for the meeting itself—neatly set up, quiet, and mostly empty.
But it was the bottom floor that had the most people.
Members of the Seagull Shipping Chamber of Commerce, retainers, and wandering mercenaries moved about busily. Tables and chairs had been arranged as if they were preparing for a meal or even a celebratory dance after the meeting.
Everything seemed normal. Too normal.
But Ryosuke remembered the exploding puppet incident from earlier and didn't let his guard down.
He carefully activated his Byakugan, scanning every chair, table, and person on all three floors.
He checked for traps, chakra signatures, hidden compartments—anything unusual.
But nothing stood out.
No puppets. No human bombs. No traps.
Had he guessed wrong?
Ryosuke frowned slightly. Gato was the linchpin of this entire alliance plan. His business network served as the "rope" binding the countries together—giving him protection and power in exchange for resources and logistical support.
If the enemy couldn't sabotage the alliance from within the ninja forces...
Then Gato would be their next logical target.
Yes, regular ninjas were officially banned—under noble agreements—from attacking civilians. But in practice? That line could be crossed. Especially by those unwilling to show their faces.
Even if Gato and his people were murdered in cold blood, no one would know who did it. There'd be suspicion, rumors, accusations—but without proof, nothing concrete could be done.
Just like when Hidden Cloud once sent ninja to kidnap someone from Konoha.
Had the Hyuga not personally captured the kidnapper alive, the Cloud Village would've flat-out denied it—and maybe even retaliated.
Wait.
Ryosuke's Byakugan locked onto the top floor again—specifically on Gato.
Something about him suddenly clicked.
A strange chill ran down Ryosuke's spine.
His mind raced.
He thought back over the pieces, the movement patterns, the strange silences—
And then it hit him.
He finally understood the enemy's plan.
His theory was right all along.
The mastermind was taking the simplest, most brutal path to sabotage the alliance.
And now, Ryosuke knew exactly who the enemy's target was—and who the true threat among them might be.
