Chapter 600: WHAT IS GOING ON?

Coco stared at the sleeping figure of Lala— now a full-grown woman, with wide, disbelieving eyes, her face drained of color as she took in the sight.

Why wasn’t Lala small anymore? And why, for all things that was holy, was she curled up in Richard’s bed like it belonged to her? Like she belonged there?

Her mouth opened slightly, but no sound came out.

She looked over at Zaque with an expression that screamed, WHAT IS GOING ON? but Zaque just crossed his arms and shook his head, unable to give her a definite answer.

Richard let out a long, exasperated sigh before reaching over and grabbing Coco by the wrist, hauling her away from Lala’s sleeping form with zero ceremony.

"Come on." He muttered under his breath as he dragged her toward the stairs. "We’re not waking her up."

Zaque and Alhai followed close behind like shadows, their expressions varying degrees of tense concern as Coco stumbled slightly in Richard’s grip, but she didn’t resist, not when she was still too busy gaping at everything that had just happened, so the two mediators let her be.

Richard dragged Coco into the kitchen, with Alhai and Zaque right behind.

Once they were all inside, Kairo took the liberty to shut the door firmly behind them, sealing all of them inside the room.

The silence that followed was heavy, no one was sure what to say or do next, but Richard seemed like he knew what to do next because he let go of Coco, only to pull out a chair and point at it.

"Sit." Richard said and it was clear to her that it wasn’t a request.

Coco sat down obediently without a word, still too blindsided by everything that had happened to protest.

Richard quickly grabbed a glass of water and filled it from the tap before returning with cookies from the cookie jar Zaque had filled earlier and set it all down in front of her like a father trying to placate a seriously upset child.

Once everything was set up, he took a seat across from her, bracing himself.

Richard opened his mouth, then closed it.

Richard suddenly found himself very nervous— now that he was sitting right across from Coco, the woman who technically owned him.

He cleared his throat, shifting in his seat before glancing up at her with a look of forced calm.

"Uh, well.." He trailed off, trying to think of what exactly to say about Lala sleeping naked in his bed because honestly? He didn’t know how Lala had ended up in his bed either.

The last thing he remembered was that weird, aching feeling in his chest when he saw her crying and then— poof, he woke up tangled around her like they had been sleeping together for years.

He frowned, rubbing at his chest where that weird feeling had been, like something pulling him toward her.

Then, Richard rubbed the back of his neck, his brow furrowing in frustration as he tried to recall what had happened that fateful night before shaking his head.

"Look.." He started gruffly. "I don’t even know how she got there."

"I really don’t know.." He admitted, voice low and frustrated. "All I remember is seeing the tears in her eyes.. And then, I woke up with her on top of me."

He didn’t mention the way their bodies had fit perfectly, or how warm she felt against him.

Nope. Not bringing that up.

Coco blinked and was about to speak but her focus abruptly shifted when a familiar scroll appeared right in front of her.

Richard frowned at Coco’s sudden stillness.

Coco’s eyes flicked from the scroll back to Richard, her gaze locking with his. "You.. Do you know what is going to happen to you now.. That you have let her share your bed?"

"What are you getting at?" He demanded, his voice was defensive, his shoulders already tense.

Coco let out a long, heavy sigh, like she was dealing with the world’s most stubborn child— well, in a way, she is dealing with one.

"Richard." She grumbled quietly, pinching the bridge of her nose to get rid of the headache creeping into her veins. "You already know Lala is one of your creators."

Her eyes snapped back to him, frowning. "And you slept with her? What do you think will happen next? Get a free pass on heaven or something?"

She sighed. "Dude, no, but congratulations. Her entire family tree is now going to be watching every single move you make from now on because of what you did."

Richard’s gaze dipped down to the table as his brows furrowed, but then he looked up at Coco again.

"I don’t care." He glared at Coco. "She chose me. She wanted me. I’m hers, aren’t I? So why should I be scared? They won’t do anything to me because it would only make her cry, and if they did, I’ll come after their heads myself."

Coco’s eyebrows raised at Richard’s possessive declaration, taken aback by the hint of.. Could it be.. Love?

"Richard.." She called, slowly, searching for the right words. "Don’t tell me.. Do you love her?"

Richard scowled. That’s a ridiculous claim! Love? His first instinct was denial. Him— a king beast? In love with Lala? A fairy? One of his own goddamn creators, no less?

"As if." He grumbled, trying to cover up the truth, his heart betrayed him though, each beat like a drum in his ears.

He couldn’t fall for a damn fairy who is like.. A literal goddess.

He refused to believe it.

But when he opened his mouth to protest, his face turned flushed, a red flush that quickly spread across his face that contradicted that internal protest.

Coco blinked once, then to Richard’s horror, she just burst out laughing.

"Oh my goodness!" Coco managed through her giggles, trying and failing to keep herself together. "I can’t believe you slept with her without even confessing!"
