Chapter 625: Dinner with who?!

After waiting for Coco to finish crying, Zaque had her guided to Jacques’ house.

When the two of them arrived, Jacques and Renaldo were already waiting outside of their house with Jonathan scrambling to lock the door.

When Coco left the house, they only heard that they were invited by Heiren to eat dinner.

Coco specifically said that she was Jonathan to come with them as well because it has been so long since she last saw him, or at least that’s how it felt for her.

So when Jonathan didn’t show any sign of returning home early, the married couple cleaned the house, packed some food to bring to Coco’s house, got Jonathan a change of clothes and got it ready by the living room.

When the mediator came back from his work, Jacques and Renadol were buzzing with energy and telling him to change into a new set of clothes quickly. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

He didn’t understand why he had to change into other outdoor clothes, but now that he spotted Coco in the distance, he knew right away.

"Are you okay, Coco?" The pink haired woman asked her friend, her eyes briefly scanning the redness and puffiness of Coco’s eyes as she smiled at her.

"Yeah, I’m fine." Coco answered, stepping away from Zaque to embrace her friend. "In fact, I felt so much better than earlier."

Jacques’ eyebrows furrowed in worry and she couldn’t bring herself to believe Coco, so she looked over Coco’s shoulders to glance at Zaque, but the mediator was already greeting Renaldo and Jonathan.

Jacques sighed and leaned down, rubbing her cheek on Coco’s head. "You can lean on me, too, you know?"

"I know." Coco mumbled, burying her face in Jacques’ shoulder. "I decided to listen to your and Renaldo’s advice. I talked to Zaque on our way here.. And well, it ended on a good note."

"But you couldn’t stop yourself from crying?" Jacques prodded softly, her voice having a playful lilt.

"Yeah.. I couldn’t." Coco grumbled before pulling away from Jacques. "I didn’t want to trouble him further, so I just cried and cried. I felt better after, then he hugged and assured me. It was truly comforting."

Jacques’ giggled and wrapped her right arm around Coco’s waist, whisking her away from their mediators and started walking to the direction of Coco’s house.

Zaque noticed this, so he signaled for Renaldo and Jonathan to start walking.

"Why are we going to your house by the way?" Jacques asked, tilting her head and leaning on Coco’s head. "I know that we’re going to have dinner at your place, but why? Is there a special occasion?"

Coco blinked and slowly nodded. "It’s a special occasion.. Yeah. I’m introducing you to my mother— my actual birth mother from my world."

Jacques was all smiles and hum, but when Coco’s words got processed in her brain, she paused in her tracks and whipped her head to look at Coco, her eyes wide in disbelief and surprise.

"What?!" The pink haired woman hissed, her voice barely above whisper, but there was really no bite into her tone, just panic.

"I’m bringing you to the house to introduce you to my mother." Coco repeated and tugged Jacques, making her resume walking down the path to said house.

"Wait, wait, wait, wait—" Jacques started panicking, her hands getting clammy as Coco continued to drag her.

Before Jacques could pull herself away from her friend, Coco had already tightened her hold on Jacques and since she’s stronger than her, she was practically lifting the woman off her feet so she couldn’t run away from her.

"Coco!" Jacques cried, her voice panic-stricken. "I can’t meet your mother like this! If you had told me that I’m meeting her, then I would have made myself more presentable!"

"What’s wrong with your clothes?" Coco asked, raising an eyebrow as she cast a sideway glance at her friend. "I think you look beautiful in that dress. It’s plain, simple, but it makes your beauty stand out even more."

Jacques’ heart fluttered at the sheer honesty of her friend, but still, she’s meeting her mother!

"That doesn’t give me the pass to look like some homeless glob!" Jacques feigned a sob, hoping deep inside that Coco would fall for it and let her turn around to fix her appearance more.

Besides, why is Coco so strong in the first place?!

She’s struggling so hard— kicking, trashing, crying, and whining, but Coco doesn’t seem like she minds! Just how strong is she?!

"You don’t look homeless." Coco retorted and to Jacques’ horror, she heard a gate open right before her, the sound was a little too familiar for her to not recognize where it was from and whose household it belongs to.

"No!" Jacques cried for real this time, her heart dropping to her stomach. "Let me just change into a better dress than this!"

"You’re fine!" Coco assured her friend who wouldn’t stop kicking and crying. "Mama wouldn’t mind it anyway! She doesn’t judge people based on their appearance, you know!"

It’s true. Cleora doesn’t judge people based on their looks and would rather get to know them better first.

Coco knows that Jacques doesn’t know this, but it kind of made her upset that her friend is so scared of meeting her mother and insisted on changing into a better dress— she already looks beautiful anyway! Why bother?!

"Coco!" Jacques hissed, her voice going a pitch higher, but it was too late.

Coco had reached the door and twisted the door handle. She opened it with ease, not even showing any sign of struggle while dragging a trashing Jacques inside the house.

Renaldo and Jonathan watched Jacques make a fuss about something from a couple for feet behind, and they couldn’t help, but look at Zaque.

"We’re only having dinner, right?" Renaldo asked, eyebrows raising.

Zaque hummed and closed the gates, locking it to ensure that no one would try to run away, especially Jacques.

"Yeah, with Coco’s mother."
