Chapter 644: Lovely morning

Morning light filtered through the curtains, soft and golden as the new day stretched lazily over the bed.

Coco groaned, barely awake, her limbs heavy and deliciously sore as she rolled onto her side, making the sheets tangle around her legs, the fabric cool against her flushed skin.

She blinked drowsily, half-burying her face back into the pillows, her body humming from last night’s activities.

Even with her body screaming in dull pain, the sunlight that streamed through the windows made the room warm and filled with a comfortable silence.

Then, the memories of the night before came back to her like a fuzzy dream, making her believe that everything is just a fragment of her imagination, but the soreness all over her body was all too real for her to believe that it was simply a dream.

Groaning, she pushed her laziness aside.

Slowly, she pushed herself up onto her elbow, grimacing at the various aches and pains that made themselves known.

A familiar weight by her side shifted— Zaque’s arm draped over her waist, but she didn’t pay any mind to him as she glanced over to the sunlight filtering to the window.

What time is it? She wondered, shifting to her side in an attempt to move away, but Zaque’s arm around her waist refused to let her go, with his grip loose, but insistent, almost possessive, and before she could move away further, he pulled her back against him with a low hum.

Coco could feel the heat of his body behind her, warm and firm, and her heart gave an almost traitorous flutter.

She tried again, but slightly more forcefully this time— unfortunately, despite trying harder, Zaque’s arm still simply tightened around her, holding her against him.

Without opening his eyes, he murmured. "Where are you going?"

"I have work, I need to get ready." Coco informed him, making him hum in response and cling to her even more, as if he wasn’t all over her last night.

Coco tapped his arm lightly in hopes that he would let go.

She knew she was stronger than him, but Zaque was stubborn, and he had a tendency to press her patience.

Zaque huffed— a low, almost sulking sound, as his eyes cracked open and looked at her with something similar that looked like a pout.

"Let go, Zaque." Coco grumbled and tapped his arm again, a silent demand for release.

Though she could easily overpower him and push him off, she would never dare and it seems like Zaque knew it because instead of letting her go, he huffed once more in exasperation.

"I have work, pretty boy." She muttered, sighing heavily. "Seriously. I need to get ready."

Zaque opened one eye, looking upset before tightening his grip around her waist and burying his face into the crook of her neck.

"Five more minutes." He mumbled against her skin, his voice rough with sleep. "Please?"

Coco’s eyebrow twitched, a flicker of annoyance flashing across her face, but she didn’t dare move away from him— her resolve crumbled into dust, like it always did.

When it comes to cuddles, or any kind of hug, really, she will never be able to refuse.

A hug had that effect on her.. And the mediator knew it. A smug smile curled his lips as he inhaled her scent, nose nuzzling into the crook of her neck.

The arm around her remained stubborn, but Zaque’s eyes finally fluttered closed, his body relaxing.

Coco couldn’t help, but find such a man adorable, so she simply relaxed against him with a resigned sigh, because who in their right mind would refuse someone like him anyway? Obviously not her.

The two of them slowly dozed off, but it was barely a minute when the creak of the door jolted them both out of their sleepy haze.

Alhai stood in the doorway, fully dressed, with an eyebrow raised at the cozy sight before him.

Zaque opened his eyes and looked over.

"Can you at least knock?" He questioned the third husband dryly, his grip on Coco loosening, but not completely.

Alhai simply stared and before Zaque could say anything else, Heiren peeked out from behind him, his brown eyes soft as they settled on Coco.

"Good morning." He greeted his wife gently, though his gaze lingered on her neck a little longer than necessary.

Coco couldn’t stop the way her face softened at the sight of him, even as she slowly sat up, the movement causing a wince as her sore body protested.

She brushed a hand through her messy hair, trying to look somewhat presentable.

"Good morning, Heiren." She greeted back softly, ignoring the fact that she was half-naked under the sheets and it’s not like they haven’t seen a part of her body— news flash, they already did.

"Sorry." The second husband sighed as he walked over to the bed. "I know you’re still tired, but I received a letter from the guild.. The guildmaster needs us to come in today.*"

Coco blinked before nodding slowly.

"I completely forgot about that.." She murmured, already mentally preparing to drag herself out of bed, regardless of Zaque’s protests. "Mr. Covez called me to his office before I went home and told me about calling you two to start working there starting today."

Zaque shifted and finally let go of Coco’s waist. "Heiren and Kairo?"

"Yes." Heiren answered and beat Coco into it, his hands resting around hers to help her get off the bed. "We already got interviewed, so all that’s left is to see if I’m going to do well."

Coco threw her legs over to the edge and gripped Heiren’s hands to stabilize herself.

She stood up, only for her legs to give out under her.

Zaque and Heiren scrambled to catch her, but Heiren was already holding onto her so he managed to hug her tight against him.

Coco’s face became hot, and Heiren’s face twisted into a scowl.

"You brute!" He turned to Zaque, hissing.
