New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 651: The worries after the attack
Heiren and Kairo had a blast in the guild.
The two of them worked in a different room inside the building, but they still managed to slip a small talk here and there.
It didn’t fully matter to them that the hunters are avoiding them like they have the plague, acting like they will be infected at how fast the hunters would take whatever Heiren or Kairo handed to them.
Though Heiren could only guess that it was probably because the hunters knew that if they were to say or do something wrong, it would reach Coco’s ears and Coco would probably unleash hell on them.
The mere thought that a small and happy-go-lucky woman like Coco was the hunters’ nightmare brought a smile on Heiren’s face.
Seeing the smile on his friend’s lips, Kairo couldn’t help, but be curious.
"What got you this happy, Heiren?" The hybrid asked, his gaze forcing themselves away from the mediator’s face to look at the path ahead of the two of them.
The sky has already started to become pink, slowly simmering down into the familiar darkness of the evening.
The two of them are making their way back to the house, with the guildmaster dismissing them from their post himself to ensure that the time they agreed upon on getting home wouldn’t be crossed.
But when they left, the guild master seemed like he was pleased to know that he had new competent hires and being deemed competent made Kairo feel like he had won the trophy to bring home to Coco— the person whom he will be getting married to in the near future.
The thought of being a useful partner to Coco brought a smile to his face, causing Heiren to become curious as well.
"What got you smiling so wide like this, Kairo?" The mediator returned the question to his friend, raising an eyebrow with a playful look on his brown eyes, all the while nudging Kairo with his elbow.
"I’m.. I’m just happy thinking about getting married to Coco." Kairo mumbled, his cheeks becoming warm almost immediately.
Heiren’s lips twitched and he nudged Kairo once more, his smile curling into a teasing grin, causing Kairo’s cheeks to become redder. "I could already tell that you will be busy on the first night of being married."
"Heiren!" The hybrid hissed, his horrified expression and embarrassed tone making the mediator laugh.
"Relax." Heiren chuckled softly and shook his head. "On a serious note though, I don’t know how you can hold back with Coco bouncing around and making us embrace her— not that I’m complaining."
"W-Well, I just try to drone out the sounds." Kairo mumbled, his ears feeling oddly warm with the topic they have.
"Aww, but why?" Heiren teased, propping his words with a pout. "Don’t you know that that’s the best part of the meal? Her sounds, that is. I believe it would best if you just rub one out to relieve yourself—"
"Please halt that sentence!" Kairo exclaimed, his hand shooting out to cover Heiren’s mouth. "We’re in public! Have some shame!"
Heiren could only laugh at his friend’s embarrassment, but that laugh ceased when they saw Renaldo and Jonathan standing by the gates with Cleora leaning against a carriage.
There were a couple of people going in and out of the house, clad in clothes that looked a little soft and fine for commoners.
Heiren and Kairo didn’t think twice rushing towards the three people standing by the gates, their hearts dropping to their stomachs when they heard a gist of their conversation.
"You and your wife can follow us to the north." Cleora’s voice was soft, but dripping with earnestness. "I’ll have my people help the three of you settle in, so don’t worry about it. I prefer to keep my daughter comfortable with people she knows around her."
"Thank you." Renaldo lowered his head and that was when he spotted his friends approaching them with urgency.
"What’s happening, mother?" Heiren asked as soon as he reached them, his chest heaving up and down slightly. "What’s wrong? Why are there people going in and out of the house? No, where’s Coco? Where my wife—"
"She’s fine." Cleora stated, cutting off Heiren’s bombardment of questions. "But she got attacked earlier."
Kairo and Heiren felt their breath get caught in their throat, their eyes going wide in horror.
The two of them didn’t even let Cleora continue what she was saying and immediately pushed past the three of them to go inside the house, their heart beating anxiously inside their chest.
"Coco!" Heiren called out for his wife, his voice dripping with worry and fear.
"Coco?!" Kairo called out for her as well, his feet bringing him past the kitchen to check the rooms on the first floor while Heiren ran up the staircase to check the second floor.
Just as Heiren was about to turn to go to her room, he heard Kairo cry out her name.
"Coco!"
The hybrid’s voice was echoing on the first floor, making the other people inside the house pause on what they were doing for a second before continuing their jobs and minded their businesses.
Coco walked out of the hybrid’s room, her hands resting on her side, but when she heard the urgent calls of the two and saw that Kairo was approaching her with alarming spread, she brought her hands up and tried to stop him from crashing into her.
That didn’t stop Kairo though, he still crashed into her, but the crash was softer than she initially thought.
"Are you okay?!" Kairo exclaimed, holding her arms and spinning her around to check for any signs of injuries. "I-I heard from your mother that you were attacked. Is— is it the Baroness..?"
Coco could feel Kairo’s hand trembling against her arms and she couldn’t help, but feel the guilt resurfacing.
"I’m fine." Coco assured him with a small smile. "In fact, I knocked the man unconscious."
"Did you get hurt..?"
